I received a check statement of 3.49$ from ***************************** and it is a scam, they commited fraud on my account through a call I received saying I won a promotional gift card. They took my information and used it to send a check and open an account with this website. I would like that account closed and terminated. Id guard llc charged my bank account 3.49 on 11/21/24 and then charged my account ***** on 12/16/24, I am unsure how they got my account and routing number but it came out via electronic check which means they have it, because of this had to put a freeze on my account and now need to change my bank account which is going to create a huge headache for me. I have never been on this website. When we called them to cancel whatever service I am apparently signed up for they said I had used a coupon website that signed me up for it. Again I never would have put my account number or even card number on a coupon website so I am unsure how they got the account number.Business Response

I found a debit to my checking account today.The check was debited today.I called the "customer service" phone number on the face of the check.I had a 19 minute and ****************************************************************************************************************** I had somehow ordered this service. Every question and suggestion of the ***resentative was answered "no" by me. I made it clear that this debit to my checking account was theft and fraud to be ***orted to the ***. Repeatedly the *** read from a sheet the many benefits I would enjoy from this service. These were all irrelevant to me, as I have two other id theft services which are for free. Also I am alert to scam come-on offers. I am a retired attorney and know the pitfalls of ever agreeing to the slightest offer of "free" benefits.The amount fraudulently debited from me was $44.99. The come on monthly "gift" was a $20 shopping card. I would never and have never agreed to such a deal.Eventually my ***eated assertions led to a promise of cancellation with a cancellation number.When I said that, of course, mere cancellation wasn't good enough, I required a credit back of the $44.99 which had been fraudulently stolen from me. I was offered first a $20 ******* shopping card, then a $40 card. When I demanded an amount at least equal to the theft. A $45 card was then promised, but I'd have to give my email address to receive it somehow by email.Right now I am still waiting for the email, and my next step is going to my bank, B of A, for alternative forms of help.Business Response
