      The worst experience I had with a car rental company !On 3rd July, I presented my ***************** card (credit card) at the Dollar counter in *********** to get my car, and this card has been refused by the Dollar employee, saying that it was a virtual card according to the Dollar system. A physical card is considered as a virtual card !My card :- is physical,- has mention "credit card" on it,- is provided by ****** has my name on it, same name as on my passport and driver license,- has a chipset,- has not expired.Looking at the Dollar terms and conditions, this card must be accepted.What's worse is that this same card was accepted by Dollar ******* in April 2023 for another rental.Despite my repeated requests to Dollar employee to verify this point, he refused.I called my travel agency who asked to speak to the Dollar employee. He refused !So, impossible to pick up my car !I spent 3 hours on phone with Dollar ***************** to get explanations : no one can tell me why my PHYSICAL CREDIT CARD **** was refused. And it is impossible to contact Dollar *********** agency...In fact, after some personal research, the ability to get your credit card accepted by Dollar depends of 3 factors :- the ** of Dollar employee (some can't understand the difference between virtual and physical). If ** level of Dollar employee is lower than the ** of Dollar reservation system, you are screwed...- the last result of favorite sport team of Dollar employee,- the moon phase.Dollar is the end of the line for me ! My very personal advice : do not choose Dollar for your next rental car.

      AWFUL i rented a car through my cellphone provider when I arrived at the airport (***************) they didnt have any car. They charged me double for an upgrade. In all it cost me $229 for a two day rental for a car. WILL NEVER rent from dollar again.

      When I was at the counter picking up car I specifically told the agent I do not want any extra coverage. I had booked a vehicle online through Expedia for $326.10 CDN dollars with confirmation # ^&%$#@%$^*. When she printed me the ticket it showed estimated coverage of $401.01. I questioned her about it and she said it will go down upon bringing car back as this was strictly an estimate. The next day I looked and they charged me $34.99 USD per day for Loss Dmg Wvr after I specifically said no. I phoned in and after and hour of trying finally got ahold of someone. explained situation and was told that the account was marked with this info and they would take it off the Loss Dmg Wvr when I returned car and to check in at agent desk again. After standing in line for 1 hour at desk when I returned car I was told there was nothing they could do and to call the number. I called number back and they said sorry you signed contract. I said you guys marked the account when I called in. I asked what happened to the original rental reservatio I booked through expedia and there was not an answer. I now have to pay $401.010 USD instead of $326.10 Cdn. Will never be back or suggest.

      Has to be the worst rental car company in the world. From pick up to trying to return the car. No one here to accept. Gate locked so impossible to return the car. Flight is in a hour. Having to leave car at gate. Never again and anyone else who is considering a rental car from dollar just walk it will be less stressful. No one answers the 800 numbers. Poor service and no care for renters. I could write a short story on dollar rental car.

      Avoid Dollar, especially at the ***************. Their counter agent conned me into taking the insurance and road side assistance. He asked me if I wanted the Loss Waiver. To me, waiver means that you are "waiving" the insurance. But no, if you accept the Waiver you are accepting the insurance. I even told the agent that I don't need the insurance or road side assistance because my personal insurance covers these. He didn't correct my misunderstanding and proceeded to create the contract with the insurance added in. I didn't realize this until I returned from my trip. I called Dollar to explain this and talk to a supervisor named ************** (wouldn't give me his last name for obvious reasons). He said there was nothing he could do about since I accepted the Loss Waiver. They also charged me a higher rate than what I confirmed through AAA and he couldn't do anything about that either. Overall, a very poor and costly experience with Dollar. They have deceptive practices and I would recommend everyone to stay clear.

      I'd never used Dollar before, and never will again. NIGHTMARE experience. I had a reservation for a Mazda 3 one-way from Norfolk to Baltimore, to see all of the eastern shore of the bay. Waited three hours at their desk past reserved time, along with a mob of angry people, to get an ELECTRIC car that was halfway charged. Only made it to Salisbury and had to spend the night, because it would take 8+ hours to recharge the car. Wasted the following day going from charging station to charging station. Then I get a bill that's more than a $100 more than in the agreement. Ruined what was supposed to be a scenic one-day drive.

      In October, 2023, I pre-paid to reserve an economy vehicle from Dollar at the *************** (***). Upon arrival to the check in counter, I was informed there weren't any economy cars available even though I had reserved one. I was told I could go to another car rental company, but I would still be charged for the rental since I pre-paid and didnt cancel within the allotted time period before the reservation. The forced upgrade was $120 extra. I waived damage coverage since my car insurance covers rentals. The car stunk like cigarette smoke and I informed the representative before leaving the garage. They said I would receive a credit. I returned a clean vehicle 2 hours earlier than my reservation required, but there wasnt a representative providing receipts for returns. Later that day, I received the receipt, which was an estimated $500 more than the original reservation to include an "outside washing fee" of $250, a $140 damage waiver fee and charged a 15% tax fee, when state taxes are ****%. I immediately attempted to contact Dollar via email but the email was from an automated system that does not accept messages. I also attempted to call Dollar to inquire about the extra charges but was unable to contact a live agent, only received automated messages and then disconnected. I submitted a complaint via Dollar.com and made numerous attempts to contact a Dollar representative with negative results. I partially disputed the dollar rental charge with my credit card company. Dollar sent me another bill and said they would send to collections if not paid in full. NEVER rent from DOLLAR. The frivolous charges are not explained before the rental, they force upgrade fees to make more money and they have non-existent customer service. Wish I could give a 0 for stars.

      "My experience with Dollar Rent A Car I Orland Florida was marred by consistently abysmal customer service. From unresponsive staff to a lack of assistance, the overall encounter was frustrating 3 hour wait in line. Improvement in customer service is imperative to ensure a more positive and reliable experience for future patrons." Person at the counter actually said if we weren’t happy to go somewhere else time.

      Please shut down this trash company. To rent a car in *******, you have to have both an incoming flight and a return flight which we did not have as we were visiting a family member in hospice. Once we purchased a return flight, they told us (which was not previously told) that we need a $500 deposit along with the price that was already paid and agreed upon. Only one of us had the amount on their card but we were told that the return flight show had to be the same person of the person making the deposit. So then we had to book an additional flight back. The lady knew we were trying to get to a relative before they passed and did not give a **** horrible customer service and scamming people out of money. DO NOT GO HERE.

      I wish I'd read these first. I too declined the insurance in Denver because my credit card covers any damage. I was charged $175 for a 'waver' which I was told would be refunded when returned it in good shape. I was later told by a Dollar rep that it was, in fact, insurance and I had signed for it, too bad. This also happened to my wife in Portland, Or.
