1 starWhat a joke you all are. I come to the dollar rental at Orlando every two weeks and use the same mastercard. Today I was told I couldn’t use it. That you only accept certain cards. Then I gave a Bank of America credit card and ***** at Orlando international Airport said I couldn’t use it if it wasn’t in my name. I told him it is in my name. He said he’s just following company policy. I said I really don’t feel like you want to What a joke you all are. I said I really don’t feel like you want to rent me a car. Then he threw his hands up in the air and said he wouldn’t help me anymore. He said he would get his manager so she could take care of me instead. He refused to help. After waiting a while The manager came out and gave us the car, without any issue. Absolutely no reason why ***** acted the way he did. Extremely bad customer service for no reason whatsoever. He was also giving attitude to the guests in front of us making them walk all the way around when there was no line AND they had a child with special needs with them. He didn’t want to help them at all. He just wanted to make it hard on everyone. What a terrible experience.Review fromMark T

1 starI prepaid for a car through priceline to visit my family in NYC. I stood in line at 318 Federal Circle,Queens NY ,Dollar Car rental office for 3 1/2 hours before getting to the desk. I told the clerk that I am a elderly person with a disability and " did not" want an electric vehicle but the clerk told me that I had no choice. The clerk was rude and disrespectful ! When the car got to 50 miles left, I started looking for charging stations in NYC which is almost impossible to find. There are only two public charging stations that are not in parking garages and they are " always occupied". I got lucky when a charging station was vacated by a car that had been charging for " 10 hours" up by presbyterian hospital!! I was staying 50 blocks away from this charging station !!! It was 1am and very cold outside. I left the car to charge overnight and returned the next morning and the car still wasn't fully charged after 11 hours !! I parked that car and didn't use it again until it was time to turn it in.Review fromChris G

1 starThe experience began with a 1.5 hour wait in line to receive a car contract. The airport was not particularly busy. Dollar car rental had 2 of 10 desks staffed for the Saturday before Thanksgiving. I checked in via the ** codes in line, taking and uploading pictures of the front/back of my driver's license, and my face only to find out the checkin system is not working and needing to provide all the information again. The. We were told there's at least a 2 hour wait to get a car on top of the 1.5 for a contract. Although Dollar Rental will certainly charge more if I return it late, they offer no discount for delaying our pick up, and ruining the day's plans. Similarly to the contact of carriage for Airlines, Dollar should be held to similar standards with consequences on both sides of the rental contract. They certainly find enough ways to add charges, and the consumer deserves equality in the transaction.Review fromSusan M

1 starBeware of expensive charges Dollar adds to the cost of renting a car. I traveled across the country after having purchased a voucher that paid the cost of my rental car. When I got to the Dollar counter I was very tired and I said I wanted to decline their insurance. The agent asked if I would be driving on toll roads, and I said yes, thinking that they would add a small charge per day. Then I was given the contract with very small print that showed I was paying for the insurance I didnt want, plus $27.99 per day for toll charges. The total on the contract was $884 for the week and I thought that the amount I paid for the voucher would be subtracted, so I signed it. I know, my fault, but being tired I wasnt thinking straight. While on the road I realized my error, and as soon as I reached my destination I tried to call Dollar to see if they could make an adjustment. Of course, you can only get the automated system so its not possible to be forgiven for making a huge mistake. Finally I called their reservation system and was told that I could talk with someone when I returned the car but there was no one on duty at that time other than someone who took the keys and said he couldnt help me. I emailed Dollar support about the excessive toll charges and received replies saying The administrative fee is charged by ***** for the processing and handling of our customers' tolls and recommending that I call *************************** PlatePass was not able to help. Dollars ******** care email also stated You are a valued customer, and we hope to have the opportunity of regaining your confidence in Dollar. In the end these are meaningless words as they refused to make any adjustment. I wont be renting from them, nor *****, again.Review fromJudy S

1 starI reserved my vehicle through Expedia, had a down payment and knew that there would be additional charges for taxes and fees when we picked up the vehicle. At the rental counter we decided to add the damage waiver when we were told it was $29. I later discovered it was $29 PER DAY! I should have called then to drop it, but I didn't (and don't know that they would have let me.) The rental record card showed we were going to be charged for 5 days; however, our final bill showed we were charged for 6 days - so, with taxes and fees, we paid a total of $513.28 vs. the $318.06 we originally expected. Upon realizing that we were charged for the extra day, and not happy due to the misleading quote on the charge, I called customer service. She told me that I needed to call Expedia, even though Dollar Car Rental were the ones who put the charge through for 6 days - when I tried to clarify that, she hung up on me!!!! Oh - and our battery died the first day, stranding us for two to three hours between getting a jump and the battery replaced, with no compensation or discount for our inconvenience and trouble.Review fromBri H

1 starRented a car through then and decided to cancel for my thanksgiving trip 2 weeks before I even made the trip and they decided to take half of my money. They already have many hidden fees but to have sucky customer service on top of that is outrageous. Never again ??????Review fromRebecca L

1 starMy brother's recent trip back home to visit family and our father's grave site was COMPLETELY RUINED, bc of this scam of a "company" before heading to Georgia he went on the Expedia app (which they are usually pretty good) but he went through the whole process of paying for and even putting an $200 deposit reserving a car rental through Dollar car rental, just to end up being told when he arrived to his destination that he would have to pay additional fees totaling $180. (They literally stated the extra $180 is to cover taxes and he would get it back) I have never heard of any company charging taxes then saying, oh you'll get it back. Mind you other than the overall price to rent the car and deposit fees, no other fees were mentioned on there pathetic excuse of a website I hope for everyone's sake this place goes out of business and they get their karma back 20x over.Review fromAmy D

1 starPre-paid for a rental and then waited in a long line to pick it up. Lady at the counter was friendly but moving frantically. Asked if I wanted extra insurance and I declined (I get this through my CC so no need for it here). Was told to sign the pad quickly and due to the card I used to prepay for it not being on hand, I had to provide a new card. I thought it was for a hold or just needing an actual card with my name on it. Instead, I was simply being charged extra for the insurance and roadside assistance. I've noticed through here that there are a long line of people who have experienced similar when declining insurance. I was very clear that I didn't want insurance, and with the history shown in reviews, I have to think this is an intentional defrauding tactic. After my trip, I called Dollar after realizing I was charged extra. No less than 5 customer service phone calls later, they refuse to refund the additional $180 they charged me. The phone calls have actually been comical. - First call, rep said they'd refund the charge - Got a bill and called back, that rep said they had no record of that and that there is nothing they can do, I'm responsible for it - Filed a claim with my CC - Called back to Dollar after still getting a bill, they said they can escalate it now - Called back several weeks later after receiving another bill, was told this Detroit location specifically denied the escalation (kind of crazy the location does this since I have never talked to anyone at this location to explain) - Tried to get a number to talk to someone at this location directly, was given a number that simply routed to the central customer service line and then given another number that was to a dead cell phone
