1 starYou will NOT be able to contact a customer service representative. I have never in my life encountered a company that was more difficult to get assistance. I was trying to change the dates for my rental, and could not get ahold of anyone. All the phone numbers listed on receipts and their pamphlets give you a call cannot be completed response. I was googling just about any car rental companies owned by Hertz to try to go ahold of someone. I finally found a number that worked, the headquarters in FL. I had turned the car in early, and was told that it was the same price?? I had to pay the same amount even though I turned the car in 2 days early, and was told they were not able to issue any sort of refund. I will never use this company again. Also when we picked up the vehicle it was dirty and gross!Review fromTina D

1 starRented a car from dollar rental at Raleigh North Carolina airport. I was given an electric car never driven an electric I knew nothing about it. No one was helpful. No one showed me anything about the car. No one told me how to charge the car well that I had to add an app so that I could pay for it they showed me nothing about this car I did not want an electric car where we stayed. We were at least 20 minutes from any charging station constantly had to charge the car. It was a complete nightmare and then I was hit with $63 in fees that I’ve never had to pay before with any car rentals dollar rental was absolutely horrible and ruined my trip. 8/22/23Review fromBonnie B

1 starWe will never use this rental service again! We reserved a vehicle for $491.60 from pick up 5/21/23- drop off 5/24/23. When we arrived we were told that for $94 we could purchase a plan that provided fuel costs for the trip that would allow us not to be charged for adding to fill the tank on returning. We agreed. When we went to pick up the car. They did not have it so they upgraded us to an SUV. ( at no charge) so they said. Upon receiving my e mail receipt we were charged $893.58. When I called to ask why it was so much more, this is what I was told-$168 for LDW, $72.78 concession fee recovery, $6 frequent flyer surcharge, County surcharge $25, customer facility surcharge $25, I was told we agreed to all of the additional charges when we drove out of the parking lot. I disagreed but was met with no real explanation of additional costs or offered any compensation. I would not give them even 1 star due to the deceit we were dealt. I would not recommend to anyone , anytime, anywhere.Review fromDennis H

1 star1.) When we arrived in *********, we were supposed to have 2 minivans ready for rental. One was ready & the other was not!2.) We were supposed to get a free car seat rental with each van if we showed our AAA card. (According to Dollar Car rental rep ***** conversation, this was all supposed to be able to be done at the rental desk. My son even showed the representative what it read on the dollar car rental website. The lady supposedly called the manager & told us he said that we had to show him some sort of personal documentation. This happened for both vans. They told us no free car seats!3.) They finally found a 2nd van. Keep in mind these vans were carrying 3 children ages 8 months through 6 years. EVIDENTLY, THE ONLY *** THEY COULD FIND WAS FULL OF 2ND HAND SMOKE! NOT SURE WHO TO REPORT THIS TOO, IF ANYONE STARTS HAVING RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS?4.) This van also had slow leak in right rear tire. Supposedly, it should be equipped with spare or tire repair kit. ONLY had compressor, so we had to keep airing up the tire. Tried to call roadside assistance many times but kept being put on hold and never got to talk to anyone!HIGH COST FOR DANGEROUS *** They did give us a tank of gas!Review fromAnthony K

1 starI wish i can give negative stars. I payed online for rental and expecting it to be there when i get there. I arrival at *** was suppose to be 11:30pm for pick up but end up getting there at 12am because of delays. On my arrival to get the mid size suv to go see family for a funeral i had to wait 4 hours to receive a rental which i didn't even reserved which was a smaller crossover. And the wait for 4hours was outside in the heat of Orland *******. After all this all they can offer is 75 dollar voucher. They should be compensating some of what i paid for.Review fromShawna E

1 starI am in the process of trying to get my $200 deposit back and have been given the run around for days about this matter. Several agents have lied to me and told me that they released it on the 8th and that it should be with my credit card company. This is not real! I have received refunds on my credit card before and it depends on the merchant releasing the funds back to the credit card company. Think about it, why would my credit card company, who wants to make money on the interest of my purchases, keep my $200 and not apply it back to my credit line. Also, when you try to contact the local number, NO ONE ANSWERS! Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT RENT WITH THEM! The price was exponentially higher than what I was told it would be overall and I'm having an impossible time trying to get my money back.Review fromKyle F

1 starNever ever rent from Dollar / Thrifty / Hertz again. Returned car at *** (******** - ********* **) airport. Representative checked that I filled gas, walked around the car and said all is good and would I like the receipt emailed to me. I said sure. I get to my gate and email receipt showed up and there is a surprise extra charge of $150 for Outside Washing. In the email there is no customer support number to call, only a link to file a complaint form, which I did. There was no mention when I returned the car that any cleaning charge was going to be added or that anything was wrong. Approximately 8 hours later I get a 2nd email with an updated bill changing the cleaning charge to Cleaning - Interior. This time it had a customer support number to call. I called and after navigating the menus and sitting on hold to get to a person, explained the situation and was told that I had agreed to the cleaning charge. NO, I didn't. They fraudulently snuck the charge in to my bill hoping I wouldn't notice. Being a small amount it would not qualify for a felony fraud charge and it makes me wonder how many countless people fell for this trap. All I can think is that a car returned from a week in ******* near beaches had some sand in the floor mats, which is easily shaken out or vacuumed. This is normal use and they always do a simple cleaning before putting them back in rotation. I have never been charged a cleaning fee in my life on a rental car and always remove all trash and leave as clean as I can. The customer support on the phone said there is nothing they can do. I told them that all my friends and family will be warned to never use this company again and any social media posts will more than damage the $150 fee I was charged by not refunding it. They refused. This is a scam company stealing money from your credit card and hoping you don't notice. 0 stars, never ever using them again.Review fromCassie J

1 starI rented a car online for pickup at **********************. When I finally got to the counter, I had paid for my reservation upfront and used my debit card. Your site is very unclear that you expect to be able to take a $500 deposit on that card when you pick up the car. I did not have $500 available on my debit card, I had a credit card. I was told I was unable to use my credit card. I asked the agent what she wanted to do because I had paid for the reservation, she told me she could not cancel it, could not change the card on file, and could not rebook or help me in any way. She had me step out of line and call customer service. I was on the phone with them for 10 minutes, they cancelled my reservation and "refunded me" on my debit card then rebooked the reservation on my credit card. I was told it would be 5-7 days for the refund. As of today, the money has not been returned to me. I called customer service to see why and was told that the transaction was not processed correctly and I was charged a cancellation fee and therefore did not get a refund to my card. The level of incompetence that I have experienced from every level of customer service with this company has been unbelievable and completely unacceptable. I would not only never recommend you or any of your partner companies, I will actively dissuade people from using you. 1 starMy rental statement says $0 to pay at counter. After waiting over 1.5 hours in line, staff tried to upswell me a diff car saying my car isnt available. Then he tried to charge me $900 more for extra liability, etc when I refused. Later he stated that I HAVE to pay extra fees and taxes? When my booking confirmation says that it is included. Its very disheartening to know that staff are trying to take advantage of people who are travelling and wanting to get to their destination. Every shady sales effort was made by staff and I heard almost every agent trying to upsell cars saying their car is not available. When you go to the lot there are more than enough available cars. Then they give you attitude when you decline. Many families are on a budget. Is anything as its stated anymore? Sleezy, aggressive staff.
