June 7th 2023 charged $225 for a troubleshooting visit, the technician told me that my water heater was not longer under warranty, I later found the original invoice from 1/2 Price Plumbing and saw that I have a 6 year warranty for parts and labor good until ****. The technician could not diagnose the problem and finally after several attempts got the pilot light back on and explained that his only explanation was possibly some water got after seeing an old water stain from 10 years ago on my ceiling.the next day it stopped working and I got not get the pilot light to stay on so I looked on the internet and immediately saw there was a recalled gas valve on my unit and ***** would send a replacement which they did and 1/2 price plumbing replaced for free under warranty but they did not refund me the $225 for the troubleshooting visit. The problem with the water heater was a faulty gas valve which the original technician should have known, not a water leak and he should have known my heater was still under warranty since his company sold and installed it for me. I should not have been charged the $225 on June 7th and I am requesting a refund.I am attaching the receipt from Rheem sending the replacement valve as well as the original receipt showing the warranty of 6 years as well as a summary of the facts.

    Dear ****,

The charge you have disputed and the complaint in which you are writing about is for Invoice #***** to which you have conviently left out of your submittals. No worries, I have the original. I will submit this and add explination. The charge you were charged for was to relight the water heater. This is not a free service, If the pilot light goes out on your heater then it needs to be relit. You called our company to relight the heater to which we did. In the interim you found that the gas valve needed to be replaced. We went ahead and chagned this out at no additional cost since this was an issue from Rheem. However the relighting of the water heater is not a service we do free of charge. You were charged accordingly. Also at the time we relit the water heater it was found that there seemed to be a significant leak over the heater. We at 1/2 Price Plumbing do not warranty against neglience. The heater was repaired under Rheem warranty not our warranty.

I am rejecting this response because:  I called to have my water heater repaired since I could not get the pilot light to stay on.  It took the technician 20 minutes to get it to light up and he could not figure out why it would not.  He spotted an old stain on the ceiling and said that maybe water was leaking into the tank, this was not the case since the stain was from a leak 10 years ago and there was not visible water leaking.  The pilot light staid on for about 2 hours and then it when out again.  When I researched the internet for what would be the reason a pilot light would not stay on I very quickly found that on that Rheem model the valve was bad and this was the problem.  The visit to trouble shooot should have been covered by the 6 year parts and labor warranty promised to me by 1/2 price plumbing which they don't want to honor it seems.  The technician who came and could not find the problem, other than a guess about the old water leak,  told me at the time that they don't do repairs only replacements.  The first visit was a trouble shooting visit and that should most certainly be covered under warranty.

Also I called around and no one charges $265 for a visit to re light a pilot light.

    Sincerely,

we hired half price plumbing for a full house re-piping job on 08 Dec 2022 after the a leak in the original copper piping of the house was detected. Halfprice was selected out of many vendors we looked at based on their BBB rating and the fact that halfprice mentioned that they had lot of experience in doing re-pining in our area with no issues and provided an estimated timeline of completion of work within 1 month. Total amount for the job was agreed to $14776.25 +permit fee.Dispute: 1. Extensive delays and lack of communication: Halfprice confirmed that permit was applied in week of 12 De ****************************************** 2 weeks (plumbing) and 4 weeks (structural) from 12 Dec after which we can begin to close the walls and get the functional bathrooms (only one functional bathroom was left for us after the repiping finished on 23 Dec) . However, upon our insistent follow *** in first two weeks of Jan 23, we found that wrong paperwork for permit was submitted and Dec. Finally the permit was resubmitted on 16 Jan 2023 (more than a month after agreement) and inspection conducted on 01 Feb (plumbing) and 15 Feb (structural).2. Issue with repiping: A significant drop in water pressure/vol was noted in the kitchen after the repining was done in Dec 22. It was notified to half price in early Jan. Halfprice kept delaying to address the issue and then made few attempts to change the faucet filter and faucet which was not even a source of issue. Finally, on 15 Feb 2023, half price confirmed that nothing can be done about low pressure and demanded full payment or they will stop the work to reconnect the bathrooms. Till 15 Feb 2023 ********* (including permit fee of ******) paid to vendor with remaining *******, of which vendor demanded full payment on 15 Feb23. We cannot pay until the remaining work is completed to satisfaction while our current issues are still unattended. Please note that we have one functional bathroom with open walls for 2.5 months and this process has caused immeasurable amount for pain and harassment to us and our young children who has been living like refuges in our own house. Half price decided to give us a notice of contract breach and stop the remaining work despite their sub-optimal work, excessive delays and total disregard for their customers.

I am rejecting this response because: the action is with 1/2 price to close the permit. The last time 1/2 price visited to complete the job (6 Mar 2023), they indicated that the final inspection will be scheduled in the coming weeks as they are busy with other inspections. Since then, we have not heard back from 1/2 price. Hence the statement that  "i am just waiting on them when they will be finished so we can close out this matter." is untrue.

It is true that I agreed to close the complaint once the project is done and our re-piping permit is completed.

    Sincerely,
