Pattern of Complaints
BBB files indicate a pattern of disputes alleging extreme delays in fulfilling contracts after the business has received payment, especially in instances where funds were received via the consumers’ homeowners insurance through assignment of benefits. Complaints also state difficulty in communicating with the business regarding contract completion timeline and refunds for incomplete work not issued as promised. Additionally, consumers allege RMX Construction completes their consumer's repairs but often the issues continue and sometimes present more problems after repairs are made.
On March 28, 2018 BBB mailed a letter to the business with concerns regarding the pattern of complaints. BBB received a reply on April 4, 2018 stating:
I personally respond to every complaint in a timely manner. As of now all of our complaints have been responded to. All of our complaints are a result of hurricane Irma. Our business quadrupled for three months after the storm. As a result of the hurricane labor and materials were scarce. In addition the insurance companies did not have the staff to respond in a timely manner, adjusters were brought in from different states to help but with a major hurricane like Irma everyone did the best they could. It has taken us six months to get all of our jobs caught up because the increase in work. Based on the conversation with your staff we are not the only roofing company that has had this issue. We pride ourselves on being professional and building roofs in a timely manner. As a response to the increase in work after the hurricane we told all of our homeowners that it would be 10-12 weeks after we received their funds before we build their roof. I understand people get anxious and want the work done as soon as possible but we were proactive in letting everyone know that this was a once in a lifetime catastrophe that we had to work through. Our customers have a project manager assigned to the cases. Homeowners have direct access to call the project managers and the home office to reach us. We are always available and if we are not we respond in a timely manner. As far as our work if we have any issues with our roofs we send our contractors out to fix and repair the roof in a timely manner. Now that things are back to normal we shouldn't have the issues that we did in the past. There are still areas in Florida that roofs are not built because of lack of labor, this only tells you how much damage was created by Irma.
