    Guinn and sons installed hurricane windows and sliding glass doors in my property. The work took place during extreme weather conditions. The front exterior door was left open by the installer. The door slammed shut so hard the door frame cracked. ****** Guinn has agreed to pay for the door and install the door. The property has a homeowners association that requires approval for exterior door installation. The association requires that the door be a certain color. A county permit is required. He has declined to pay for the association fees, paint the door, and obtain/pay for the permit. As I expressed to him the damage was caused by his employee he should be responsible for the damage. Please assist.

    To whom it *** concern,

    The weather during the installation of Mrs. ********** window and door project was not extreme.  What happened was that we were working on the back door when one of our installers opened the front door to get a tool from the truck creating a vacuum that slammed the front door resulting in a slight crack in the door jamb.  There was no structural damage to the door and we repaired the crack.  The homeowner was not pleased with the repair or the fact that there was an accident that occurred on her job site. The only thing that will make the homeowner happy is a new door.  At this point Guinn & Sons is willing to supply the homeowner with a brand new door.  We are not willing to install for the homeowner anymore as she has lost faith in our ability to install the door to her satisfaction.  If the homeowner does not want to hire another installer to install the door that we supply, Guinn & Sons is willing to replace the door jamb that was cracked, but not whole new unit. Someone I spoke to at the BBB mentioned that the homeowner *** want to file a insurance claim to get the door replaced.  That *** be another option for the homeowner. Throughout the entire process, we have stayed in contact with the homeowner and did multiple site visits for every concern that she had.  The fact that the BBB and the ** ********** of *********** of ******** Services has gotten involved before the project was even completed is shocking to us. As a small business, these kinds of complaints are very damaging and we are shocked that we are having to go through this for the first time in our business history.  Let us know how to proceed, either delivering the door, or scheduling the replacement of the jamb.

    He has a duty to restore my property to the condition it was in prior to contact by his company. He has offered me a door that I have no skill to install. He speaks of lack of faith in his work however had the door been propped open and secured during severe weather window installation I would not be requesting that Guinn and sons address damage. I used the bbb website trusting that I would find a responsible company that is why I selected this company. I will continue to work towards holding this company responsible for damage and will continue to seek compensation though he minimized his role.
