On December 18th I received a warning message which caused my computer to lock up and a security alert appeared stating my computer was in danger and I needed to call the number on the screen immediately and not to attempt to turn off my computer. I called the number on the screen and the person identified them self as a representative of *********. They took control of my computer remotely and supposedly resolved the issue. I have no idea what they did because I could not understand the representative. They claimed to have downloaded "lifetime encryption firewall and support". At the time I had only had my computer for about two (2) months, so I don't think it was possible for it too need what they said it needed. They sent an invoice which said I was to pay Webyard LLC, P. O. ************************************, the amount of $2,346.37. I began to suspect that something was not right and that this was a scam. I did not send them any money. They are now sending voicemails and emails stating that if I don't pay, they will turn the invoice over to a collection agency which could impact my credit score. These people need to be stopped because they are intimidating people and using scare tactics to try and make people pay these outrageous sums of money.

My complaint is similar to others that left a review. My computer got hacked, which locked the computer with an audio message not to shut it off, but to call a number. The banner had Microsoft on it, so I dialed the number thinking it was MS. I asked the person I spoke with if he was from MS, and he said yes. I gave him access to my computer (my first mistake), he said looking at the issue was no cost but he showed me backend screen that showed Windows had closed down certain programs - this is built into the system, apparently or so he said. For $299, he could access my computer and reactivate the programs. As others stated, it took them 30-40 minutes to reopen Window programs. He asked for a check number and bank name. I did not send a check but next morning googled Webyard LLC. They also had recommended adding a filewall, which was $599-1,500 dollars. I did not agree to that either. I then had to take my computer to get looked at to ensure no files were 'left behind.' Webyard did add two apps on the desktop - contact information and the other opens to the backend screen that was supposedly fixed. I've had to update all passwords. I've been receiving phone calls daily asking they needed to know if their fix worked and when the check will be sent. No check is being sent and I'd like for them to stop hassling me for payment.

My computer froze, Microsoft number to call for support; India speaking person said my computer was infected, and for $299.00 would fix. They wanted a personal check, to be sent to a P.O. Box. After 20 or so minutes, my computer unfroze. After reflecting, I decided to junk the computer and buy a new one . After reviewing the company, they all said it was a scam and do not pay. Now I keep getting phone calls and now a threatening email saying if I dont pay legal action will be taken and my license key to my IP address will be disabled. I truly feel they infected my computer to scam me out of $299.00. I dont want my credit affected.

I was attempting to play a game on my computer and when I tried to enter information, I got an alert and a message supposedly from Microsoft to call, because my computer was locked. Thinking it was legit, I called the number and spoke to a lady and I told her what my problem was and she said she would check. She told me my IP address had been compromised with 3000 plus website and it would need to be cleaned up in order to unlock my computer. She took over my computer and said she needed a tech to fix the problem. She said it would cost $299 to fix the problem and I told her I would not be giving any credit info and she said no, you can send a check, i said how about a money. She said check and she would need the check number, which I gave her and then she asked for the bank name, which gave, but NO routing or account number. The tech tolto leave the computer on and it would take 35 minutes to fix it. After that time the tech told me everything was fixed and he added an icon on my computer with their info and sent me emails with their contact numbers and my supposedly IP# and told me someone would contact me the next day. I contacted my monitoring company and was told it was indeed a scam. The *** took a look at my computer and they had added things so they could have access to my computer, which she deleted. They had added things so they could hack into my computer. The legitimate Rep fixed the mess they made and did what was needed. I contacted my bank and told them about the problem in case they tried to give the check number, but since I didn't them any routing or account numbers, the bank said they wouldn't be able to get into my account. I WILL NOT be sending a check to Webyard and I sent an email to them this morning that I will not be sending a check and I have sent info to BBB & other monitoring companies and their operation is a scam and DO NOT email or call me anymore, otherwise the authorities will contact them.Everybody be aware and beware.

my computer locked up, told me they fixed problem for $299, plus additional coverage for added security. After i ok ed this, thinking it was not a scam, I got on line and discovered, by looking up BBB, that it actually was a scam. I will not be sending this scam company any money and hope i can get them off my computer.

In my opinion, they're running a SCAM. The language/country sounds like India. Contacted me out of the Blue. Said my IP address was compromised and being used to purchase porn, said bills amounting to close to $10,000, and attempts to change email password. If they didn't fix it. my internet access would be BLACKBALLED. ????? Wanted $2600 for 3-years coverage. I foolishly allowed them to download an Ap onto my computer (which I have deleted).. Wanted a check number, which I gave them. Have not sent the check and do not intend doing so. They wanted the check with in 10 days. They sent an email stating they wanted a review from me and they had received notification I had mailed the check, which I have not done. The $2600 price is obviously unreasonable. And they want the check for when I tell them the money is available in the bank they can cash it (on the assumption I sent it, which I do not intend to do). Legal businesses do not run like that.

I had the same experience as another poster. My computer locked up because it had been hacked and many viruses had been downloaded. After I shut down the computer after they "so called" fixed it, when I turned it back on many boxes popped up again saying you have viruses affecting your computer. I did not pay them anything but will be contacting my bank tomorrow to tell them to watch for suspicious activity. I guess I will never learn to trust anyone.

Our computer locked up and said to call Microsoft to resolve. I did not call the number listed on the alert but looked up Microsoft number on Google. Called that number and answered that he was Microsoft agent gave me his employee ID. I allowed him to log on to computer and he inspected everything and after something he said everything was ok but had virus or infection from Russia. Then he said we could get Dell firewall for $999 and send check to a PO Box. I agreed but after call I found that this company is a scam. They called the next day and wanted to know how everything was with computer. Told them I decided not to send check and that they are fraudsters. Argued with me and we hung up. BBB said the phone number comes up as a scam number. Beware of calling any Microsoft numbers. The real Microsoft does not customer support or web supports. No checks will be sent.

I was told by my internet provider that this was a scam. After clicking on a post on F******* I received notification that my computer had been locked and that I should call M******** at the number listed immediately. My computer would not let me leave the screen so I panicked and called them. Someone with a foreign voice answered and I had great difficulty understanding them. They took access of my computer and told me that I had been hacked by R*****. I didnt understand but was terrified so I followed their direction. They installed a program and told me that they had cleaned my computer and that I was now safe. They told me the cost of this program was $550.00 for 3 years and sent me an invoice through my email. He also told me that I didnt need to notify banks or credit card because he had fixed things. My internet service told me to contact the *** and to contact all my financial institutions and credit card companies and not to pay this company because it was a scam.

I feel this is a scam. The message came up on my computer that I been locked and to call Microsoft number to fix the problem. Thinking it was Microsoft I called only to find as I when through the process I may be wrong. After everything I am to send Webyard LLC a check for $800. I fear what may happen if I sent them the check. I think they have way overcharged and this is just one way to get into my bank account. For right now I don't feel it is right to send them the check so that they have access to my account.
