      I went to an appointment with Sarasota OB/GYN in **************, ** for a new patient, annual visit. I was new to the area. I went for a routine, annual check up. The doctor performed a pap test. Months later I found out that my insurance denied the tests the doctor performed. My insurance company said it was not covered by my insurance. It was a charge from Quest Diagnostics. I went to an "in network" provider with the knowledge that all I would owe is my copay which was $25.00. Now I'm being told I owe hundreds because she performed tests that were not covered. I never asked for additional tests to be performed nor was I told any additional tests were being performed. No one let me know I may be stuck paying more than my copay.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      I saw the doctor for a routine, annual exam, nothing more or less.  The doctor decided to perform extra lab tests, she did not tell me, she did not ask me if I wanted them, and gave me no option.  I saw her for my annual exam, expecting to only pay a deductible, nothing more.  I was not given notice that any test she would perform could possible be my responsibility.  Per her contract with *********** she should know what is covered and what is not.

      Per the Florida Law, Statute *********, prohibits unfair charges and ensure patients are not billed beyond what their insurance covers.  They knew this would not be covered under my insurance, but ordered the lab test anyway, and did not give me any prior notice that I would be responsible for more than my copay.
