Did a shower improvement project with Southern Industries in November of 2024. We paid over $10K for this project. Over the past few weeks, we have noticed mold growing around the shower, underneath the shower, and in several other areas in the bathroom near and around the shower that was installed by Southern Industries. I have reached out to them several times over the past three weeks and they sent someone out to take a look at the issue and the Southern Industries rep indicated that there was indeed an issue with how the shower was installed and that someone would be contacting me soon to get this shower ripped out and reinstalled correctly. Mold continues to grow, and this needs to be remediated as well, as it is causing breathing issues in the home. No person ever answers the phone, and leaving messages does not result in a return phone call. As the shower is covered by warranty, I feel it is a legitimate request to ask them to stand by their warranty, remediate the mold caused by this faulty shower install, and provide me with a new shower...installed correctly and of high quality.Business Response

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because: Although the company has finally reached back out to me and stated how they plan to resolve the issue, I am still in limbo to sit and wait and no understanding on their plan to remediate the mold. Mold exposure is a serious issue and the company does not have a sense of urgency in the matter. My mother and I both have weakened immune systems due to ********** ******** and my mother is elderly and has a ******* **** ********* as a result of her ********** issue. We both have been experiencing symptoms of mold exposure and I have expressed my concern to the company regarding this throughout my several phone messages and conversations that I finally was able to have with their representatives. It has been about three weeks now since I have brought the matter to their attention. After the first tech came to inspect the quality of work of the shower and it was deemed it was improperly completed and led to the water damage and mold development. I waited a full week of no response from the company. The following week, I finally was able to speak with a representative only to be told someone else had to come to the home to inspect the mold damage. That individual came to the home and told me that it would possibly be another 2-3 weeks before they could have someone to come out to remove the shower, remediate the mold and then reinstall the shower. I am still not clear on why it should take that long to simply have someone to come out to remove the shower and remediate the mold immediately. But instead, I am told that they are waiting to reach out to the person responsible for ordering the necessary parts to reinstall the shower. That person would not be back in the office until, today (June 2, 2025), Monday. My main concern at the moment is not the shower, but the complete remediated of the mold and then we can figure out about the shower. Due to the seriousness of the mold and the issues it has caused and could possibly worsen, I would like for the shower to be removed as soon as possible (not waiting for parts for a new shower) so that the mold can be remediated quickly before it has a chance to spread and create more damage to the home as well my health and my mother's health. Prolonging the time to resolve the mold has been an unfortunate inconvenience as I have been displaced from where I sleep since it is in such close proximity to the bathroom where the mold is. Definitely can't use the bathroom at all and have had to purchase a dehumidifier and air purifier in the meantime to attempt to reduce the impact. I am forced to sleep on an air mattress in the living room until I can get this issue resolved. This has been an awful experience and at this point I just want the shower removed, the mold remediated as soon as possible and to be financially compensated for the inconvenience.
Sincerely,
******* ********Business Response

In February of this year we had Taylor Construction (Phone number ###-###-####) install a bath to shower conversion. We paid a total of $13,308. Over the past few weeks we have noticed that the caulking used on the project is turning yellow. The shower is a bright white so this is quite an obvious flaw. I reached out to them three times over the past three weeks and have yet to receive a phone call back to schedule for someone to come out and take a look at the shower. No person ever answers the phone and leaving messages does not result in a return phone call. As the shower is covered by warranty I feel it is a legitimate request to ask them to re-caulk the shower with a product that will not turn color.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Business Response

I bought new windows from the company. My house was extremely damaged I eternally and externally by the installers with crowbar and force. The new windows are also damaged. I have contacted the company and been ignored.Business Response

Dear Better Business Bureau,
The Certificate of Completion that was signed by the ********** at the job In August when the job was completed it is attached expressing their satisfaction with the job. At the completion the window installer lead did explain that wood will need to be painted. Mr. ********* acknowledged he understood.
About 2 weeks ago we did receive a call asking about their trim work around the outside of the windows our office explained that we will be in touch. When we reached out the phone number that we had for the *********'s was disconnected
We have reached out to the phone number now listed here and have left a voice mail. We apologize for any confusion and look forward to speaking with the ********** to resolve any issues.
Sincerely,
Taylor Construction

I have a question about accepting the businesses response here. This is what they said to me initially after I filled the complaint and they called. After speaking with them, they came out and looked and the installation. There was not only damage to the windows but also they did not install the gutters properly as we discovered. As soon as they saw the work, they immediately said it was a poor job and I did not have to do any convincing otherwise. They have arranged for someone to come out and fix the issues this month. So we have came to a resolution outside of this complaint however, their original response here is not an acceptable resolution. I want to acknowledge their effort to fix this, but I'm afraid if I accept their initial response here in BBB it could go against me and I do not agree with their initial response. They did change the way they thought about the situation after we talked and they viewed the job. So, what should I do?Initial Complaint

This company did a tub/ shower remodel and allowed debris to go into my bathroom/ bathtub pipes, due to failure to cover the drain. They had me to call a plumber and he has come out 2 times thus far to blow the drain out. The plumber has ti come again due to slow draining and backup. The plumber is stating that he needs to get inside the walls to access the Ptrap and fully address the entire problem. Also they cut into a main electrical wire without advising me. Then taped it up and stated it should be fine, yet I have lights flickering in my home. Southern Industries will not return my calls or text now that they have collected the final payment and it putting this on the plumber's 6 month warranty. The receipt from the plumber states the blow out is guaranteed for 6 months. The problem is bigger than a blowout.Business Response

Dear Mr. ********,
We do apologize that you received a flyer from our company on your door. Our company does have marketing teams that go out to offer home improvements to neighbors of our customers. I am unsure why there would be multiple flyers, they simply hang one on the door if no one answers the door. I imagine that occasionally the pamphlets may stick together, if this happened this was no intentional. If we may help you in the future with any home improvements please let us know!
Sincerely,

I live in ***************. And live on a fixed income. And on ******* I ordered a walk-in tub from sales rep *********** ******** of ******************* (contractor) for $*********. On ******** the tub was installed by Taylor construction (sub contractor) . My brother-in-law replaced the subfloor to the old tub. Because I was told they would do everything needed under the tub to be done to support the new tub. The cut the old tub out with a saws all. Cutting into the floor. Spending approximately 10 hours they finished and demonstrated the use of the new tub. Pulling the larger panel from the tube showing how to use a tool for removal. After about three weeks, my brother-in-law finishing the bathroom remodeling had to remove both panels to lay my new flooring. And discovered that the contractor cut my floor joist and subfloor leaving a large hole under the tub and into my crawlspace. A hole approximately 12 inches by 9 inches and never repaired the joist. I called the numbers on the paperwork I had on Monday the **********************************. I was told she would have someone call. Call never came.
