The Jewell House offered a vacation at their facility through ***************** Our ********** ************ *********** ***** purchased it for our fundraising auction and sold the vacation at the charity auction in Nov. 2021 for $750. We then paid $450 (60% of the amount we sold it for) to the Jewell House via ************ as agreed. The certificate indicates that the purchaser should contact them by Aug. *** 2022, provide the certificate number and "they will get you all taken care of." When our purchaser contacted them before that date, she was told that they were booked and would not honor the certificate. I then called Suzanne at The Jewell House, and she told me the same thing. I did not request any particular date, just that they honor the certificate at some time, but they refused to do so. Now that they have taken this position, I fear that the purchaser of the certificate would have a bad vacation were it to be honored, so I am requesting a refund of the $450 we paid. It would be fraudulent for them to be able to sell a vacation and then not honor it, and it would be unjust enrichment were they to be able to keep the funds paid when the quid pro quo was withheld. We will need to refund the person who purchased this at our auction, so our nonprofit will be out $450 unless the Jewell House refunds our money.
