Original letter to BBB ************************ I am in my Eighties, have had a stroke and handicapped. On October 15, I contracted Coppermine Pest to eradicate a flea infestation.for a charge of $550. They conducted an astounding five treatments and failed. Two days after, and midway through, their fifth failed attempt they abandoned what they termed their "guarantee" and walked away - having never have succeeded in what the contracted to do. I don't understand this "guarantee" thing at all. In all of my extensive business experience and higher business education, I have NEVER heard of a "guarantee" that expires in the middle of a period of consistent and uninterrupted failure to fulfil a contractual obligation. A guarantee should START at a successful COMPLETION of a promised service, for a reasonable period of time to promote confidence in any enterprise. I have been charged, and paid, almost double the original contracted amount, in their efforts to guess their way through their failed attempts to fulfil their contract. They represent themselves to be experts in providing this service. I believe wholeheartedly that I am justified requesting a substantial refund of monies I have already expended. I have had to postpone other contractors from entering the premises as Coppermine applied FIVE unsuccessful flea treatments and the commensurate five two-week periods of "Lets see what happens now". I should be reimbursed for an "exclusion" that was both unnecessary and unsuccessful (nothing poisoned, trapped or expelled). Another complication: Other exterminating companies refuse to insure termite treatments installed by Coppermine Termite treatments to both my home and cabin have already been paid and unnecessarily will need to be paid AGAIN in any transfer of accounts. I have been treated as a *****, and gouged - as long as I keep writing checks, they have been more than willing to guess their way through solving the issue.
