On 10/… I reached out to Mr.Handyman for a bathroom sink replacement. I received a quick reply so I made an appointment. The tech came out and measured the space prior to the install. On install day the tech came and was on time. I was a bit confused as he didn’t have the sink with him. He again measured the space and let me know that he would return. He came back shortly after with the sink and started the install. After a couple of hours he was done. I went to look at his work and I noticed the sink was installed backwards, both faucet handles were facing inward. Once I noticed that I informed him that I would like everything the same as the sink next to it. He went ahead and got to work. I went to check to see if everything was okay and he informed me that there were two cracks in the counter. He was unsure if they were already there prior to him coming out. I was quite busy so I sent him on his way and told him that I would like into this.
After reviewing prior photos that I sent to Mr.Handyman. The cracks were not there. The sink was still not installed correctly and he used duct tape to secure the sink pull rod.
It is now to the point where I do not get replies to my emails and or messages.Business Response

We hired Mr. Handy Man to refinish terrazzo in the kitchen.
The work began on July 1, 2024, at around 9:30 a.m. My wife and I had moved all our kitchen appliances to prepare for the job. With a one-year-old child, we booked a hotel to stay at while the work was being completed.
I returned to the house around 2 p.m. to check on the progress. The floors appeared wet and shiny, and the employee said he was finished but that the floor needed to dry. Because of the wet and shiny appearance, I couldn’t assess the quality of the work. The employee seemed rushed and eager for me to sign off so he could leave.
He instructed us to let the floor dry for a day, assuring us it would look great afterward. Following his advice, my family and I returned to the hotel to allow the floor to dry and the house to ventilate.
The next morning, I went back home to inspect the floors. They looked terrible, with large areas that weren’t sanded, patches of missing sealant, and the floor still dirty and not properly finished.
I immediately called the office and spoke with ****** to express my concerns. She contacted the contractor, who then called me to discuss the issues. I described the problems, and he agreed to come and inspect the floor the next day. When he arrived, he said, “things in construction are never perfect,” and gave various excuses for the poor workmanship. He promised to return the following day to resand and reseal the floor.
On July 3, 2024, the contractor came back to resand and reseal the floor. He assured me that after a buff and touch-up, it would look great. I left the house and drove by four times during the two hours he was supposed to be working. Not once did I see him out of his van. He didn’t touch a thing. The floor remained in the same poor condition as after the first day. He merely plugged in a fan and stayed in his van.
The company claims they will work until we are satisfied, but the employee clearly does not know how to properly refinish the floor.??Business Response

We agreed to clean, sand, and seal the kitchen flooring as much as possible the but the their ******* flooring is beyond reconditioning as it is old. That is the reason why previous owner had it covered with vinyl flooring. Also, some of the areas in the floor had concrete filled patches from the previous plumbing job in the past. Here is what we did for this customer:
We did not find anything wrong but we still agreed to do a spot buff to bring more shine. We pointed out to the home owner that ******* flooring changes color from the light reflection. Then we went and spot buffed and resealed the areas they wanted treated. They expect to get expoxy flooring on top of the ******* which was not part of our agreement. I tried to call and set up an appointment to assess their flooring and get a second opinion from another service professional but they did not respond to my call. I would like to get this issue resolved as soon as possible.

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:
The invoice clearly states an epoxy coat. The floors were not properly cleaned or sanded there is clearly still dirt and grime that sealant was put on top of . Never once during the quote process did anyone say this flooring was beyond repair as it was old .

requested quotes from multiple providers of which Mr. ********************** responded. After providing a quote, the service person stated "you owe me $76." I asked, "why". He said that he charges a service fee. Before providing a quote, we NEVER discussed a fee for an estimate nor did I sign any contract to that effect. Now, this service person has turned this amount over to collections and is affecting my credit score.Business Response

We confirmed in our recordings that she was informed about the $76 service fee and the customer had agreed to pay. Additionally, customer was reached multiple times, but she would not answer the phone calls. We cannot get her removed from the collection once the account has been turned over to them. Her only option is to work with the collection agency.

I am rejecting this response because: The content of this response is a BLATANT lie. I was not notified of a fee until AFTER the service technician gave VERBAL estimate. I have asked for documentation to support the claim but there is NOTHING. Sending a copy of an invoice AFTER the fact is NOT a notification of a fee before performing a request so that the consumer has a choice.

Job was initially done in July 2022 - Mr. Handyman put in new kitchen tiles over a new sub-floor. The grout started cracking within a year. We called the company in Aug 2023 asking if they can fix the grout. The owner came by to review and said yes, we will guarantee this work and fix it for you at no cost. A technician was scheduled to do the job on Mon, Aug 28th - the technician showed up and started to use black caulk to cover the cracked grout. We questioned whether this was a proper technique for the job and at that moment he said he doesn't know why he was assigned to the job because he doesn't work with tile. He stated another technician will be assigned to the job. A second technician was scheduled for Tue, Aug 29th and didn't show up. When he didn't show up within the time window given (8am-12pm) we called at 12:10pm to check on the status of his arrival and they said a technician wasn't scheduled for Tuesday because they called us to reschedule for Thursday. However, I never received a call to reschedule. So then we had no choice but to agree to scheduling a technician again for Thu, Aug 31st. The technician showed up ill prepared with no tools for a grout job. He also stated the owner only gave him an hour to do the work but he said it was a 2-3hr job so he wouldn't have enough time to do the job properly. He started removing the grout and scratched the tiles. He said he didn't have enough time to do the job so he left. He left making it worse than it was before. We have tried calling the owner several times to come to a solution and he won't work with us. While we were explaining to the owner that his technician had already scraped up the grout using a phillips head screwdriver and scratched the tile - the owner's answer to us was, get a lawyer. So we are reaching out to you, please help. A neighborhood company shouldn't be handling business like this.Business Response

The tile was not placed over a new sub-floor. Customer was advised that the grout will continue to crack as the sub-floor has too many soft spots and the warranty on the tile work we did have expired.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
the tile was placed over a new sub-floor. This was done in Feb 2022 (providing invoice and paid receipt to confirm dates). There are no soft spots under the tile. When the owner came to view the cracked grout, he did share with us that the warranty was for a year after the work being completed so this would have been in July 2023; however, since we are not at the house full time the owner came to the house in Aug 2023 and said he would honor the warranty by guaranteeing the work and would fix the grout at no cost. But now he is telling you the floor is no longer under warranty. If this was the case, then the owner should not have sent his technician to fix the floor. Upon the owner sending a technician over (this was his choice – even though he now says the floor wasn’t under warranty), his technician started to remove the bad grout but then stopped after scratching the floor and saying it was because the owner wouldn’t give him enough time to fix the grout properly and then he left. We are filing this complaint for a refund because if the owner didn’t want to guarantee his work in the first place – he shouldn’t have said that he would fix it out of warranty and then not follow through and damage our property. He left the grout even worse than it was before. The owner should take responsibility because even though it was his company that did the work, the owner stated that it was a bad tile job and needed to be redone – this was after his technician started removing grout and scratched the floor. thank you for your time.

It is totally false statement about the work being done not correctly. Regardless of whether the customer lived in the house for one day or the entire year, the warranty has expired. We are no longer responsible for the cracks appearing on her flooring.

I am rejecting this response because:
Clearly, this has turned into a he said/she said. However, the fact remains that you sent your technician to the house out of warranty and started to scrape up the grout and scratched our floor. Why did you send a technician to fix the grout if the warranty
was expired? The issue is not the warranty. You agreed to fix the grout out of warranty. The issue is that the job was poorly done and we need to be reimbursed to fix the grout and tile that your technician damaged. Thanks again for your time.

Earlier this year I hired Mr. Handyman of ******** to hang crown molding in my living room. The first man that came out had no clue on how to hang crown molding and after messing up a board with his wrong cuts, he was asked to leave. I called and complained and spoke to a manager/owner. I was informed that he would send another more experienced worker to do the job and told they would pay to replace my board the first guy cut wrong. When the second, supposed more experienced man, showed up to do the work, he came without any tools or saws. He didn't have any clue on how to hang crown molding either. He spent the majority of his time trying to figure it out and cutting boards wrong once again. After about 2 hours, we, together, figured it out and we, together, hung one straight piece. At that time he went to sit in his van for 45 minutes and take a phone call. By this time I was beyond irritated with the lack of knowledge and skill possessed by this gentleman in this area and when he came back to the house, I kindly told him to leave. He left. I called Mr. Handyman immediately again and told him the issue. He wanted to send yet another person and I said no thank you. The "bill" that he claims I owe should go towards replacing my boards that were cut wrong. But at this time I'm only asking that he stop trying to collect on a debt that I do not owe. This company did not actually do any work for me! Now they are reporting this bill to a collection agency threatening to put this on my credit. No one from Mr. Handyman ever actually hung crown molding for me (I hung it myself with the help of one man) or cut pieces of wood correctly that I could use.Business Response

January 2022 we contracted Mr. Handyman to remove the existing shower and install a new one with an original quote of $2678.00 with a one week time frame. The shower ended up taking until April 2022 and almost $5000.00. There was nothing but issues from day one.
1. Worker did not rough in plumbing before installation. "Fixed" by cutting hole in wall.
2. Wall were not shimmed so shower is not plum or square. Not fixed because the shower would have to be demoed to fix issue.
3. Shower drain was installed higher than floor. Not fixed, worker tilted drain to one side is level with floor.
4. Drain was broken so water poured into the first floor. Fixed
5. Grout was was incorrectly poured and came out. Not fixed because homeowner had to put new grout in.
6. Caulking left all over glass. Fixed by homeowner.
7. Caulking peeling out of shower corners. Fixed by homeowner
Today is Sept 22, 2022 and I had to re-grout my shower because the grout was coming out again. I picked up pieces that were coming out and they had the consistency of chalk.Business Response

I just came across this information. All of the items listed in the complaint have been addressed as a warranty. The customer has signed off on the project and I thought that the customer was happy. The full refund option is not acceptable.

I am rejecting this response because: We sign off on the warranty work because it looked fixed and we were tired of trying to get the shower to be installed properly. The grout around the drain and on the floor is breaking and coming out. All the grout around the drain broke out and the floor was turning into powder in many places. Grout should last many years not 6 months and mind you the first grout done on the shower didn't last a week. So over all this shower has been grouted 3 time in 2022. Twice by Mr. Handyman and once by the homeowner because the grout was dissolving in to powder. The grout that was not turning into powder was soft as caulk.
