I bought a 20** **** *** *** from Southern Auto Source in *********, *******. The truck was "as is," yet I went there based on a referral.
I understand that the truck was "as is," but as a customer, I also have rights! The following day, I performed a maintenance check on the truck, and there was no oil present on the oil stick. I contacted the owner, John, within three days of purchasing the truck with my finding and additional concerns arose after driving it for a few days. I asked John to trade this truck for a more reliable one and pay the difference in the downpayment. But he refused!
I've had this truck for about three months and have had issue after issue. I handled each issue out of pocket, and notified the owner, John.
However, this is an issue that I will not tolerate, regardless of whether it is an "as is" buy. I am reporting the owner, John, Southern Auto Source, to the Better Business Bureau.
On April 16, 2024, I was driving my vehicle through traffic, passing under a green light in the midst of an intersection, when the truck suddenly shut off! As horns honked, I was in a state of panic for a brief moment before realizing I was about to be killed unless I took fast action. Thank goodness, two men hauling pine straw jumped into action alongside me. We pushed the vehicle to the side of the road, barely missing being struck by a 18-wheeler truck.
John this is absurd! I came to you, the owner, each time to report the problems with this "as is" truck.
When I talked to you on the day of the sale, you stated, "you stand by your vehicles." I needed a reliable way to work, not a death trap! I frequently travel to *******, *******, ** *** ** *************...it horrifies me the thought of this truck shutting off in *******, ******* traffic!
Beware of Southern Auto Source, based on my experience... Do NOT purchase a vehicle Southern Auto Source.

    Business Response

The vehicle was sold as is.  It was running properly the day he purchased it otherwise he never would have taken it if it had problems. Approximately 30 days after purchase he came in and said it was not running property.  We reiterated the fact that all vehicles are sold as is and future maintenance as well as tune ups are the customers responsibility.  We did offer to help him out with a covering a portion of a tune up, and told him to take it to a shop and get a written estimate.  He never returned with an estimate, but called several times to harass our employees about how terrible the vehicle was without ever providing evidence or bringing the vehicle by for us to inspect.  Each time he called we reiterated the process: Get a written diagnosis and bring it to us.

We are still willing to help with a tune up, but since we do not have a mechanic on staff, he needs to take it to a licensed shop and provide us with a diagnosis and estimate for repair.  At that point we are happy to assist him with a portion of the repair.

    I am rejecting this response because: ****** * ** ***** ******** ******* * ** * ***** ***** * ***** ******** *** ********* **** ** * *** *** ***** **** **** ** * *******
Second, I went to John, Southern Auto Source within 72 hours because I  noticed more issues after driving the vehicle a couple days.
After the vehicle stalled out under the red light, I towed it to my residence.  I am returning the vehicle and requesting no impact on my credit report.  For the sake of my life and my family life…At this point, I am requesting Southern Auto Source pick up the **** because it in operable and only make loud clicking noise when I switch over the ignition.
    Thank you.
