They were very unprofessional and rude when they picked up my dad

First, Mr. Frazier, I apologize for your experience with Schmidt Family Funeral Home. We did and still do offer our condolences to you and your family.
The evening when your father passed, you worked with a fantastic hospice company & nurse. She told us that your family was initially seeking a cremation society in the Des Moines Metro area. That company elected not to come to your home due to the time and distance that evening. As the consumer, you have every right to select whatever funeral home or crematory you prefer. Your family said it: We were not from your service area; can someone take care of Dad this evening, and we can talk in the morning? And we did exactly that.
When the funeral directors arrived at the home, they provided all the information and resources regarding the cremation process. They also offered the contact information to point your family in the right direction. Nonetheless, they were happy to answer all of your additional questions.
The following day, we got a call from a second cremation society out of Des Moines. They stated they would be arriving the next day to retrieve your father and that they had been in contact with you and had all the arrangements made.
Shortly after we spoke with them, you called the office yourself. You asked us to file your father's life insurance policy so you could pay the cremation society in Des Moines that you had elected to use. We declined because you no longer wanted to use our services. We felt it would be more appropriate for you to take this step with the cremation society since you will pay them for your father's services, not us.
