Do not invest your money in this company, your children will not get it easily. I am on my last attempt with them before contacting our attorney. Like others have said it's a steady cycle of sending in their documentation they need, I sent mine in the same way five times now and each time they contradict their self saying something different is wrong. I reported them to the fraud department because I'm not sure if they're just wanting to not release the funds or if someone in the office is toying with us because I did place a complaint about one of their associates and the rudeness and coldness that they displayed while calmly and politely asking simple questions. Today I am going to record the call and fill out the form the exact same way they tell me to every time, but this time no more toying around with us. I hope the president reads these because the people in the office I was assigned to need replacing, my name is ***** **** and I am her son, her name was ****** ****, two54925798 dob *******, dod ******* if you would like to dig **** I myself will continue to spread this info for my entire life to everyone I encounter that is important to me.Athene USA

This company does everything to delay any action at all. All requests for actions on accounts must be submitted BY MAIL ONLY. That is ridiculous in today's age.I put in a request for an action in my accounts. When I called them 20 days later, they said that they only received the request 8 days ago. Why does it take 12 days for mail to be received in the ***?There was a mistake in the paper work that I sent in and they "said" they sent me a letter about it on October 23. It is now October 31 and their letter has not yet come to me. WHY CAN'T THEY COMMUNICATE VIA EMAIL???So I amended my request for action and paid good money to have the documents OVERNIGHTED to them. I was told that it takes ***** to enter the request into their system. The tracking number confirmed that the papers were delivered the next day noontime. It is now more than ****************************************************************************** their system.The answer I received was that "We don't always have people in the mailroom." THAT IS RIDICULOUS IF ALL THE COMMUNICATIONS ARE BY MAIL ONLY!!I'm wondering how long it will take to process my requests and then how long it will take for me to receive my funds. I'm told that the money can ONLY BE SENT BY MAIL and if the last letters are already taking 10 days to get to me.If it must be sent ONLY BY MAIL, why can't they offer AN OVERNIGHTED DELIVERY SERVICE to their customers.THIS IS THE MOST CUSTOMER UNFRIENDLY ********************** I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED!Athene USA

Athene is the absolute worst company to work with. The customer service is terrible. They constantly talk in circles and no one helps you with any questions because it is our policy. Do not invest anything with this company unless you want your family to have to fight for everything.Athene USA

Take Your Money Out of this Company as soon as possible!Misdirection, misinformation, outright lies is what you can expect when you try to move any of your funds. When you call you are only able to talk to a receptionist who will review your files from notes. They have NO ABILITY to make changes or give you any information that is useful to your request. I am trying to rollover my account to another ********************** (April 2024) and I have learned to write down names, dates, information given to build my complaint. There are no supervisors to talk to, callbacks are required but they don't occur. Notes will say callback attempted but no pickup and no way to leave a message - both LIES. I was told rollover was approved (no accounting was forwarded) and check would take 3-5 days. Called day 7 and was informed that I was misinformed and check would take 8 to 10 day. Day 13 any no check has arrivied. Company I am working with now say they have NEVER seen anything like this. I wish I had read the these reviews earlier, at least then I would know what to expect. Athene is a terrible company. Take your business anywhere else. I have a *** with them. I retired and set a monthly distribution for retirement income. Got exactly two payments. NOTHING this month. This is half of my income. I called customer service. They'll get back to me in 7-10 business days. I wonder if my bills will wait for them? What a joke.Athene USA

Discouraging to read these comments....Northwestern....Mass Mutual...New York Life...are Athene competitors....I am currently researching Athene ....they are involved with a $2.6 billion$ dollar lawsuit with ********************************** everywhere for Athene....I will mark Athene off my list....Athene USA

This company is a joke. Like the others here I have been trying to collect my husband's retirement annuity. I lost him February 13th to covid after a long battle with cancer. To subject someone to these ***** tactics over a small amount of money is criminal! They tell me all my paperwork was received and it was approved 2 weeks ago and then. I got two more letters asking for the same documents over and over. I have sent all the requested documents several times by US Mail and last week I started faxing them. I ended up paying $20 to fax them! How ridiculous to put someone through this when what I need is closure on this in Order to grieve and help my disabled daughter get over losing her dad so we can move on. Athene I don't need your insincere condolences anymore. I do need you to finish this and close the account and mail my check! This was prompted because I received another letter today asking for the lump sum distribution document that I have sent at least 10 times and the executor paper that I have also sent many times. When I call I'm told you have these papers!Athene USA

Absolutely p*SS poor company. You will never see your money. I won my exs *** in a divorce. 8 months later and they still cant find the divorce papers. Or they need something else. Their reps are rude AF. They need to be shut down.Athene USA

As a financial advisor and agent for 32 years, I have never seen or dreamt a US company would completely out-source customer service to a third world country. In addition, I have never experienced the problems moving or getting clients' money on their behalf. I was originally licensed with AVIVA in 1999 and witnessed the sale to Athene ************** after the financial crisis. The books of business that Athene acquired were out-sourced and are not being handled by Athene in **********, but in the ***********. This has created dialect communication issues, incompetence, and the inability to reach anyone directly that can assist you. At the onset of the sale, Athene could not confirm with clients their balances or if they even had their money. Numerous complaints to *************************** will verify this. This is the most un-patriotic, unethical, and unprofessional conduct I have ever witnessed.
