      I requested cash surrender Value, but Athene delays to process payment. They said to process payment after two weeks, they didn't, I called again, they said to process payment in next two days, but they still didn't process payment request. They are lying to consumers and keep consumer's money. I am not sure when they could process my deposit payment, anxious waiting. Athene is a bad company I won't never trust them again. .

      This company does not even deserve 1 star. My account was transferred from Aviva to Athene years ago. Since then I've only received one statement, not quarterly ones. I wasn't even notified when my loan was paid off. I had to call about 5 times to finally get that verified. Now, I'm trying to transfer my annuity finds to another annuity. They've had the documents since 11/17/22. It's 12/30/22. The transfer still has not happened. In fact. I've called about a dozen times and asked to speak to a manager. I'm always told one will return my call in 1-2 business days. It's been 20+ business days; no manager has contacted me.

Ms. ***** did not provide a contract number and instead wrote that she was told the funds would be overnighted.       DO NOT set up anything with this company!! Your family will have to fight to get paid out even when the annuity states specifically what is to happen with this money. Had to read them the definition of per serpes even though that is how their annuity is set up. They keep asking for the same paperwork over and over again. They even paid out to all the wrong people and had to stop payment. Totally incompetent!!
      Will NOT do any business with them for my final finances, would hate for my children to have to go through this!!

      Worst customer service ever, basically non-existent. Be prepared to wait for a minimum of 45 minutes if you phone. Agents are pleasant enough once you get through to someone but no matter what you do, it's NEVER their fault. They do not advise you if there will be a delay in sending funds by EFT. Once you have an annuity with them, you're stuck with their total lack of service and they don't care, they don't have to.
      I have repeatedly sent the same completed forms and they still manage to delay funds. My property tax payment will be late due to their incompetence and total lack of follow through. It is acceptable to them that the caller has to hold for ages to get through to a "service" agent but they can't take 3 minutes to phone or email clients. Once you have an annuity with them you're pretty much stuck unless you want to pay a penalty.
      Maybe multi millionaires are valued customers, average clients are clearly not.
      I would never recommend anyone do business with them. They have no idea how or why they should provide service to their clients.
      Just check out their Mission Statement, they hardly mention their customers. It's all about team building, careers. Believe it, they do not care about providing good or even adequate customer service.

      Filing a complaint with the BBB is the only thing that has worked for me. Athene actually phoned me twice and it seems they have now set up my EFT requests for future withdrawals. At this point will say I'm cautiously optimistic funds will be sent by EFT in the future.

      our uncle passed in late july. they still havent paid us the annuity he left. its only 1000.00, which is probably chump change to them. i submitted all the docs they required and they kept sending letters saying they needed a copy of this and that: which was never stated in any letters. then, they wanted more of the same docs that we initially sent them. they stall! just pay out what our uncle put in there for us! i make sure i fax everything because it proves i sent things.

      My deceased sister has an annuity with them that I've been trying to resolve for 18 months. I'm her court appointed Personal Representative. Yet they refuse to provide me with any information and won't tell me what they want. It's preposterous that it takes several hours on hold to speak to a person about a Trust!!! The TOTAL lack of any Customer Service. When you finally get a person they don't seem to know anything.
      I would advise anyone to take your money elsewhere because you might not see it for many months.
      I intend to write a letter to the Iowa Attorney General office. They should not let Athene do any new business until they can provide appropriate Customer Service.

      My 84 year old mother had a annuity and Athene simply would not give to her money. I tried to help but they put up so many hoops to go through it was impossible. Now she is dead and they are still unhelpful. All this for a $7000 annuity. Somebody just tried to sell me a annuity and I said no way. They steal from seniors. Very unethical business. I wonder how many elderly they steal from

      Such an incompetent company . They are incapable of executing a simple task of a $1000 withdrawal. Service is almost impossible to get on the phone unless you have nothing to do all day but be on hold. When you do finally get to speak with someone you are just given the run around. After having funds transmitted EFT for two years received a letter that they cannot transmit any funds as they do not have my bank information to do so. Total incompetence !
      Stay clear of this company !
