A couple of weeks ago I received a phone call from AFNI INC and the agent for this company told me on the phone that the company is collecting a debt of $1700.00 for ***. I told the agent that I don't owe *** any money and the account associated with this bill is a fraud. So the agent told me to report this to the *** fraud department and ended the call. The next day I called *** customer service and the agent I spoke to told me that he did not see any past bills owed in my name. So I saw no reason to go further. Yesterday I received a notice in the mail from AFNE Inc stating that I owed $1700.26 So last night I made an online fraud report on the *** website and spoke to phone agent. I can't remember ever using *** service but if I did it was at least 30 years ago and I never left owing them money. I received a fraud bill from *** about 5 years ago and it was a case of stolen identity. And the bill was dissolved. I was not held accountable for that bill. It was for approximately 300 dollars. I owe *** no money and this debt is fraudulent. AFNI Inc is trying to collect a fraudulent debt from me. I'm hoping the Better Business bureau can resolve this for me.

I am rejecting this response because:
This response is not acceptable from AFNI Inc,. The phone number associated with this account is a Florida phone number and at the time of this phone account being active I was, and am living in Ohio. This is a fraudulent bill. This company has provided a non-acceptablable response. This is fraud. I never opened or authorized this account.

I was sent a collection letter due to my former internet provider falsely sending information that I didn't return equipment. I called my internet provider (rhymes with infinity) to confirm everything was resolved, and they confirmed it was, but Afni has sense continued to send me letters stating that I owe over $500. This is fraudulent and clearly trying to intimidate me to pay money that I am wrongly accused of owing. It's frankly criminal.

      the balance of $575.77.
The account is for services established on March 21, 2022,
until Comcast considered the account delinquent on April 10, 2022.  The service address associated with the
      account is **** ********** ******* ********* ***** ************ ** *****.  Afni mailed the initial notice of the account
on or about November 16, 2022.  Afni has
not and will not furnish the subject account to the credit reporting agencies.  On November 23, 2022, Afni received the
consumer’s written email letter of dispute. In response, Afni ceased
communication and initiated an investigation.   As part of the investigation Afni
reached out to confirm the charges.  On
December 3, 2022, Afni mailed the consumer verification of the debt.
On December 30, 2022, Afni received this complaint.  In response, Afni ceased communication and
initiated an investigation. To address the consumer’s concern, the account was
updated as potential identity theft as [CONSUMER] denied knowledge of any
      service with Comcast.  Afni encourages
the consumer to visit Comcast's fraud website at
**************************************, which discusses the process and
documentation needed for the fraud investigation.  Your claim of fraud will cease all
collections by Afni on this account.  Additionally, the consumer should contact Comcast's Identity Theft
Department at ***** ******** if they believe the account is not theirs or feels
this is a case of identity theft.  As the
consumer has requested, Afni will no longer contact the consumer about this
account. Again, Afni has not and will not furnish the subject account to the
credit reporting agencies. However, this does not mean that the account is not
due and owing, simply that Afni will not furnish the account to the credit
      reporting agencies.  Afni trusts this
response has addressed the consumer’s concerns, but if questions remain, or if they
would like to discuss the account, they may contact a Consumer Relations
      Specialist at ***** *********

You have DEFRAUDED me. It has come to my attention that you received payment on a debt that was canceled; however, you are still proceeding to collect from me. The notice to the agent is a notice to the principle, and notice to the principle is a notice to the agent. I demand that the following account be removed immediately:

      AFNI, INC.
      108485*********

Per 15 U.S. Code § 1605, the finance charge is insurance that protects the lender in the event that the obligor defaults. The payment status of this account is in default, which means you received INSURANCE money! This account was then illegally listed on my consumer report as canceled debt.

According to the IRS, when a creditor cancels a debt, a 1099c form must be sent to the obligor or consumer. I never received my 1099c for this canceled debt. Therefore, you are forcing me into paying the balance, which is FRAUD. Since insurance money was collected, the IRS identifies canceled debt as income. Income does not get reported on the consumer report and TAX FRAUD has been committed!

been purchased by Afni.  Afni received
the account from **** and acts as an agent on behalf of ****.  Therefore, Afni has complied with its
obligations.  Afni will send a request to
the credit reporting agencies to remove the account from the consumer’s credit

the credit reporting agencies anywhere from 0 to 60 days to update consumer
