I had my car policy from Kemper (Policy No ***********, Effective Date 08/05/2022; Expiration Date 02/05/2023) and then in October 2022 I switched to another insurer. My Kemper policy was active for just two months and I asked Kemper to cancel it and provide me a refund for the unused period. Policy cancellation was done on Oct 5 (I have a document on hand) and I was told that a refund check will be sent in 3 weeks. In 4 weeks (Nov 9) as I haven't got any checks from them I contacted Kemper **************** and was told that a new check will be issued and I have to wait another 3 weeks. Later 4 weeks in December I contacted Kemper **************** one more time and again I was told that a new check will be sent in 3 weeks. On Jan 6 I contacted them again and one more time I was told to wait another 3 weeks. Today is Feb 1, 2023 and I still didn't get my money back. As for me, this means Kemper behaves just like a scammer and is not willing to refund my $607 (!!!).Business Response

Kemper insured driver rear ended my car in October 2022. My car is a total loss. I've been calling KEMPER for more than a week to get the update on the claim as it has been 4 months and I have no car and no compensation for my loss. The adjuster is not returning my calls or responding to my emails. I call and call and no one can seem to help. This is outrageous and I don't know how this insurance company is allowed to conduct business in this manner. ******* lives have been destroyed because KEMPER is not making payments on claims and not being very responsive.Business Response

My complaint is about my car being towed to a tow yard because my insurance failed to get to my car after waiting 2 hours a police officer towed my car to a tow yard because I was not in a safe place my insurance insured me after filing a claim that they would tow my car out of the tow yard to a designated place where they would overlook my car to make sure that it had not been in an accident once that was complete they told me they would tow it to ***************** **** where I purchased a car so maintenance can be further made after waiting almost ************************************************************************************************************* the tow yard $1,300 later I am going through very bad hardship as I have been a paraplegic for 20 years and I drive Uber for my living expenses now I cannot get out my car because I will probably lose it because I don't have the money to get it out they made promises that they would take care of me I've had this insurance for ************************************** and honor their wordBusiness Response

Kemper provided Commercial Auto Insurance to a client in **********. This person ran a redlight causing an accident and has admitted in writing that this was his fault. Kemper has elected to ignore the evidence and per **************** law has a contract with the insured to accept liability for accidents caused by their client. I have reached out numerous times for resolution including the client who has reached out repeatedly admitting fault. Kemper is not willing to pay for damages under their contract with the client and has informed me to take it up with my insurance which is not the way the Law works. Regardless of factual proof and admitting guilt Kemper is both denying the statements of myself and their client who they insure. After talking with body shops here in town this is common business for Kemper and they are known to deny claims consistently even though they are the insurer of the one who is at fault. the accident happened on 10/30/2022. I filed the claim 11/1/2022. I have sent emails with proof and provided many unanswered phone calls to the agents. ************************* the Kemper Commercial Claims Manager answered once and proceed to yell on the phone claiming I have no case and written messages don't mean anything and that I need to file with my own insurance. ********************* the agent handling this claim has muted all discussion has been ignoring the factual truth of the claim. This company should not be allowed to provide auto insurance if they have no intention to owning up to the risks that happen with providing said insurance. I have been very patient in my dealings with Kemper and they would rather fight a losing case on their end rather than accept proven fault and honor the insurance laws of **********. It is time the BBB looks into this company and the frauds they are committing against innocent people.Initial Complaint

Claim Number: DX2311344939 Kemper insurance claims department is very unprofessional and unresponsive. My car was hit by a Kemper Corporation insured driver on 12/09/2022. The Kemper insured driver admitted fault to the police and was given a ticket to appear in court. On 11/16/20222 I called Kemper insurance company to file a claim. The claim adjustor came out and did an estimate of my car which was $3550.00. The collision Center sent a supplement in 1/17/2023. The adjuster had to come back out and re inspect my car for a part I told them about when Adjuster ****** called and asked why I couldn't drive my car away after impact. I have been missing work and having to borrow others cars just to keep a float since they don't cover rental cars. You have to pay out of pocket. This has really taken a huge tole on me and my family. My car has been sitting for months with no resolution. There driver hit me 12/09/2022 my car is still sitting at the collision center as we speak. This has caused a lot of pain and suffering. I need therapy due to this nightmare. I have to email *************************** who is suppose to be a manager to get any type of update's. I will also be filing a complaint with my local State Insurance Commissioner. I got a call from a Kemper Insurance adjuster, claiming that one their clients filed a hit and run complaint, I was driving my car, that is under my sons name, when they said this happens, I talked to my car insurance provider, and also talked to Kemper insurance and told them that this could be a fraud from Kemper Insurance Client, my car is in an intact condition, but they keep claiming something never happened, now they have placed my son into debt collection, trying to collect the damages that their client is arguing they had.. I have told them to show me a police report, pictures of their clients vehicle being hit, but they have denied it, advising me to hire an attorney, now the collection agency is trying to intimidate me with letters, certainly Kemper Insurance is without proof trying to collect money from something that never happened.We can provide pictures from my vehicle, from months before, because my car was vandalized, and then repaired, but the rear bumper where Kemper is claiming that I hit their clients car was not repaired at all, and its in its original condition since we bought it. Our car has its just a couple of scratches from someone hitting their front plate frame to our car and its very small, and this is the way we bought it, and have pictures available. Kemper is constantly calling us from different numbers trying to collect something that never happened.Business Response

My Car vehicle was hit by the policyholder of Kemper Insurance and they want allow me to file a claim on this insurance holder I have received the policeman report with all information on the Report and we have Damage done to our car. My Daughter was driving and my grandsons was in the back seat. To my understanding the insurance company is supposed to cover all damages. *************************** is the ADJUSTER THAT WILL NOT TAKE ALLOW TO LET ME FILE A CLAIM AGAINST THE POLICY HOLDER. 09 JAN 2023 we hit a puddle in *****************, ** on **************. 3 Miles later, our car stopped working. We had it towed to a shop, and called the insurance to tell them about the issue. The mechanic said we need a new engine, $20,000. We spoke with the adjuster who told us an appraiser would go to the shop and assess the damage and someone would get back to us. We are going on day 12 now with no answers and we cannot reach anyone at Kemper who will take our call. I have left numerous messages with our adjuster and his supervisor, stayed on hold for more than an hour and still no luck getting a payout to replace our engine. We need our car.Business Response

We have a vehicle at our shop that has been here since 10/3/2022. Kemper is now telling the customer that they are not covering rental any longer. This accident was not her fault and the issues that have caused the delay in repairs are with ************** and the miscommunication between them and Kemper. ************************* and Kemper/************** didnt even come to an agreement on the repairs until ******* 13th 2023. We have provided a timeline to ***********************, Shelithea *******, ************************* and the customer on the dates of communication and they are still telling her that Kemper is no longer covering the rental. But to be perfectly honest there is no communication from Kemper to the customer or our shop. *************** has tried reaching out to multiple people within Kemper, that has been assigned to her claim, but nothing is getting resolved. Before the claim was passed to ********* the claim was under *********************, *************** tried over 40 times to get him on the phone, with no response, to ask questions about the repairs and process and how to move forward. The only reason I even got them to respond early ******* is because of an email I sent to listed above within Kemper. The bottom line is that we ALL need to get this customer taken care of! That should be ALL of our goal but from what we see of Kemper Insurance that is not the case.Business Response
