My husband is 86 years old. I am 74 years old. He needed to see this doctor for chronic hip pain. I needed to see this doctor for neck pain. Dr. ***** spent a long time talking to us at two different appointments - giving us what she felt was important information, but never gave us the promised treatments. Her office staff gave us misinformation on pricing. Our appointments with her were cancelled at the last minute twice. Most notable was that her promised treatment was known by her to aggravate cancer and she planned to go ahead and give this treatment to us. I wrote a letter of complaint and suggested a refund. She called me and offered to help us find another doctor instead of her. This never happened.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/10/2024

I have read the above statement and would like to respond with the occurences of the 2 visits to my office.  The individuals presented to their first visit late and needed to fill out intakes which took time.  I wanted to help them as they were elderly so I personally helped them with everything so it would not be a hinder on them.  I **** *****), had brought them into the treatment rooms to which there was a large amount of information to be obtained and discussed in relation to both their histories, this in total was almost 2 hours.  There were other disorders that they were looking to help and had specifically wanted to know about Red Light which is low level ************* that was not mentioned above.  They were referred to me from another individual.  There was a lot of questions and discussion in regards to this as to her husband wanted to understand it more which at the time I had referred him to a website that he could do more research and I had explained what the therapy was about in detail.  On this first visit, I still performed examinations on the individuals that are not covered by Medicare.  This was explained to them that Chiropractic physicians coverage is strictly set to cover adjustments only.  On this day our examination charges are $155 per patient - $310 total.  This was charged and collected on this day from the patient.  Due to the late time, the front desk did not give a proper receipt and this was overlooked which was rectified at the second visit personally.   Before the second visit, **** ******* did text the office with questions and there was a response that this would be explained further in person.  She had questions regarding getting records, red *************, hands on therapy, having therapy paid for in a particular way, having *** not be left alone in a room without someone, and visit amounts. This is what was responded to in regards to discussing this in person at the next visit.  When the individuals showed up to their second visit they were late again and this was evening.  During this time, there were other questions that they both had and needed to be addressed as well as financials.  I had reviewed the questions **** had in the  text to what was stated.  Any therapy that I feel would help a patient will be discussed and it is my practice to make sure the patients understand this.  No therapy is recommended that would do harm.  There are guidelines that are to be followed of health history, timelines, and current daily living, condition and prognosis.  This is our guidelines to help a patient improve health-wise.  At this time, **** decided to strictly go with a hands on approach and due to the late nature of her appointment she had decided to start at the next visit.  At the end of this visit they were to be charged $50 each for consultations but they were charged $75 per visit which was a clerical error.  At this time, I personally made sure she had all appropriate receipts in her possession but I did not at the time notice the amounts.  The next 2 visits were rescheduled due to the City of ******* having our access to the property destroyed due to repaving and sidewalk destruction during the time of her appoinments and the City did not notify us.  This was not of any doing of ours and we had no control of this.  ********** was shut down for 4 days.  I will include pictures above.  A letter was written to our office from **** in which I had called to address this and **** had asked me to find her someone closer to her home.  She states that it takes her 30 minutes to get to our office and she is too busy.  I had stated the clerical error and she stated for me not to worry about it cause I was researching offices for her which I did.  I had texted her back on 9/14 letting her know that I had been locating an office for her and I would follow back up.  This text message had no reply.  On 9/24 I had texted her again and called her with no reply.  I found out on 9/25 in regards to a review she had written and I addressed a message back to her and also placed a letter in the mail with the referrals, a $5 gift card due to the fact of no receipt (this is our office protocol) on the first visit and a $50 refund of the difference between the consultation charge and therapy charge on the second visit.  I will include it above.  In regards to this case, I had tried to help ease the progress of a long paperwork at the first visit, did examinations, gave review of findings and tried to give a recommended treatment plan for both individuals.  Furthermore, when they had stated to me that the distance was too far for them and they did not want to drive to me at this location, I still tried to get them to were would be good for them to receive care.  I have been in practice for going on 25 years and am a firm believer in hollistic medicine and how certain therapies can be valued as good for personal health.  My name **** ******** *****) and my office is held close to my heart! I run on professionalism, hard work ethics, good work ethics and take pride in my oath to help individuals heal naturally if able to do so.  If **** would want the refund of the consultation visits which is $100 to help her put it towards obtaining therapy for herself and her husband then I would gladly do so if she was not satified with what I was trying to convey and help her with obtaining.  Please reach back to me if you would like to further discuss or if you have any further questions.  I am not sure if I am to reach out to this individual or how to continue further.  ************ Sincerely, Dr. ******** *****

I am rejecting this response because: I just became aware of Dr. ******* response.  I read it and found it to be the same type of communication that she used in her office.  She seems sincere, but she took advantage of our good natures.

In her response, she left out two issues:
    1. The "paperwork" that she refers to was extremely long.  It took almost an hour to fill it out. She charged us for filling out the paperwork in front of her.  I wondered why this amount of paperwork would not have been emailed or mailed to us ahead of time.  I asked and she said that it should have been sent - and that she hoped that it was not her daughter's (who apparently works for her) error.  We should not have been charged for the Dr.'s time while we were filling out her paperwork!

    2. On our second visit, she told me that she would have all of the paperwork on her end filled out when we arrived.  Nothing was filled out when we arrived so we had to start all over again.

After she spent a long time on both visits going over her "paperwork" which included information on my husband and I both having had cancer - she told us that red ************* has been known to trigger cancer in patients who have already experienced cancer - which we both have.  It was at that point that I questioned her knowledge and her practice.  Why would she spend all of this time explaining red ************* if it was potentially harmful to us?

She sent us a refund check for $50 and a $5 gift card for *************** although we paid her over $400!

Her response letter to you was similar to the way that she spoke to us - appearing to be sincere, but actually full of smoke screens.

I made multiple calls and multiple emails and still no response . I had to file a claim with **** of America for recovery of my $1010.00 . This office is a major rip off !!
