Camping World dba The-House is asking me to file a police report to report a delivery stolen when I am confident it was not stolen. I filed a claim with ***** as a reasonable alternative and they are insisting a file a police report for something that isn't a crime. I am rejecting this response because:
I am asking you to take responsibility for your employees who obviously lied to us at 2 different locations. Then proceed to try to lowball us for a trade in agreement. Your employee told us to file an insurance claim and have camper totaled out which our insurance company did not do he said the damage was so bad they would never fix it. Now we have to pay deductible and our premiums went up. Now they want to buy it for well under market value

I purchased a fifth wheel back in August 2024. The finance manager ***** "pineapple" sold me a warranty contract for $7374.50. He told me I could cancel at any time and if i canceled within 60 days I would receive a full refund. I called again in September and requested to cancel. It took 3 phone calls for me to be able to get connected to someone to assist me in cancelling. After 3 months I still did not see the refund reflect back on my loan. I then had to make an additional 6 calls and 3 emails to get a manager to respond to me and let me know why I still hadn't received my refund after 3 months. In January 2025 my wife called again and asked why this still had not been done. A "general manager" (other employees have lied to us and told us they are the general manager when they aren't, ***** specifically said he was the general manager and couldn't help us out) said he would ***** the check that day. My wife repeatedly asked if it would be a full refund to which the manager said yes. Upon reviewing our latest statement from *************** the refund was only $1338. This needs to be a full refund of $7374.50 as we requested to cancel 3 weeks after purchasing. We called again on 3/10/2025 and were told it would be looked into and did not receive a call back or update. I would like my full refund $7374.50.Business Response

We contacted Camping World to sell our ** in Feb. We sent them pictures ********************* along with VIN & model number. The pictures showed the ************ of our **. The corporate office gave us potential sale pricing & told us to bring our ** to the ********* location. We dropped the ** (travel trailer) on 2/19/25 & we signed all of the necessary paperwork. We received a docusign on 2/28/25 to sign to receive the check for them to purchase the ** for $26,400. Signed the ************** told we would receive a check within a week. Then I received a call on 3/6/25 telling me that they made a mistake & gave me pricing for a totally different model AND our ** had a leak in the roof! When ******* wife talked to ***** at corporate & then *****, the manager at the ********* site, they told us that they couldnt go through with the purchase because it was the wrong ** ********** had a leak. How does a company not see that they have a different model entirely, get to the point of inspection, are about to cut a check to purchase it & then realize they had the wrong ******* there was a leak?!? And since it took them so long from the time we dropped it off to the time they called us, how do we know that the damage wasnt done while they had it? We have done regular maintenance on the ** & before we turned it in, we checked all the seals & the roof. It seems to me that they are trying to get out of paying us what they agreed upon & may have caused a leak to occur so they wouldnt have to buy it. ***** told us to talk to the service **** to get more info about the leak. ******* wife called 4 different times, left messages & never heard back. I am rejecting this response because:They are claiming that I entered the wrong model number when I submitted the online sales evaluation. I found it hard to believe that I did that so I went to the ** Evaluation link I was sent on 2/13/25, went to go fill it out & the form auto-filled the model number I previously entered WHICH WAS THE CORRECT MODEL NUMBER as you can see in the photo of my screen from the laptop I originally filled the ** evaluation form that I've attached.
It is not our responsibility to memorize our model number or *** number. The screenshot they provided to my wife claiming I entered the wrong model number only shows a TRIM number. There is no trim number space on the ** Evaluation form.
We have no idea where 42QBQ (the model number they quoted us for) came from because I entered the correct MODEL number on the form: T282QBXL as evidenced by the 1st image of my laptop screen showing the ** evaluation form.
When we dropped it off, there werent any soft spots or cracking of sealants on the roof.
There were several VERY heavy rainstorms that happened while Camping World was in possession of our trailer. There was even hail in some areas like **********
Did they have it stored underneath something or have it covered to protect it or was it stored out in the elements? They had it ALMOST A MONTH (we dropped it off on 2/19/25) and it rained several times so the leak could have happened while they had it. We didn't get a call until 3/14/25 from ***** at the corporate office to let us know that the model number on the contract was incorrect and there was a roof leak!
We have no way of proving how long the leak was thereDaniel, the ** of the San Diego dealership kept saying on the call with my wife that the leak had to be there for a very long time but is that based on any proven information? It could have happened while Camping World had it due to the heavy rainstorms. The wood underneath the roofing is particle board plywood which absorbs water pretty easily.
The manager of the San Diego dealership, *****, told my wife and me to call the service **** to talk to ***** who would be able to give us more details about the roof leak. We both tried calling several times but never heard back from anyone in the service ****.
At the end of the day, it seems VERY suspicious that the trailer was inspected, we were offered a specific amount for it, we got to the point of signing paperwork accepting their offer and then after a few more rainstorms, we get informed that theres a leak AND they have the wrong model number.
Because what kind of business who specializes in purchasing used ** & travel trailers receives an online form with information about a trailer for sale, collects the pictures which clearly show the model number, the size/length, the interior to show it had 2 bedrooms and one slideout, approves the purchase to the point of giving a quote of a range it could be purchased for, tells the seller to bring their trailer to the local dealership, the dealership does their own inspection to confirm the condition of the trailer, provides an adjusted purchase price, sends out electronic signature paperwork to confirm the purchase price, tells the buyer that a check will be written within a week and then a week & a half later, comes back to the buyer to let them know they had the wrong model number AND their trailer has a roof leak they didn't detect when they did the original inspection???
Seems to me that the original inspection where there was no roof leak & the price they confirmed based on that inspection should be the one that is honored.
It doesn't make sense that a professional, legitimate company who specializes in purchasing used travel trailers would miss a roof leak the first time around and would miss that THEY entered the wrong model number. And even if I did enter the model number incorrectly (which I did NOT), it's up to the professionals to look at the pictures, the actual travel trailer, the paperwork, the *** and realize that they gave a quote based on a completely different model/trim.
All of the people weve spoken to seem to think that once Camping World realized they had the wrong model number, they wanted to find a way to back out of their offer so they came up with the leak situation.
Had they come to use BEFORE offering or confirming a purchase price to let us know they gave us a quote based on the wrong model number, I would understand that mistakes happen. But that wasn't the case.
The offer they said they could give us IF the trailer didn't have a leak was $13,000, which is WAY below market value. So we wouldn't want to sell it to them anyway. My wife said she asked them to give us the $13K for it but they refused since they said it would take $10K to fix the roof and the most they could give us is $8000 because they'd have to sell it at wholesale and that "they'd be doing us a favor by even purchasing it for that much".We are beyond frustrated & very perplexed as to how this could have happened & would appreciate your help in ensuring that Camping World is an ethical business and not trying to scam people.
Sincerely,
***** ******Business Response

We made a purchase through camping world in *********** that was delivered from out of state, which we had paid for the delivery. When we went to inspect the camper, there were many issues that needed fixed Trim on right hand bottom side of slide in bedroom, Drawer under the sink needed repaired, Rubber seal around kitchen slide out left a huge gap to outside and needs repaired, Inside vent shroud in kitchen and in bathroom needed replaced (cracked) Side wall panel under the tv as you walk up the steps needs replaced . Needed to be winterized. All of this above was to be done prior to pick up. Weeks later, when we went to do an inspection and pick up our new camper, none of the items above were fixed. To make matters worse, they did not winterize the camper, even though the work order was signed off on, and let it sit in 10 degree weather, causing damage to water pipes as well as faucets and toilet seal. We have made many calls and have gone there in person numerous times, only to find out the camper still hasnt been fixed, including the damage an employee made. We have reached out to corporate and they wont be able to assist our case until mid April. We wanted to back out of this deal due to the many lies and damage that wasnt fixed upon pickup AND the damage that was caused by an employee due to camper not being winterized. According to the manager of sales, since weve already signed papers, the camper is ours and theres nothing we can do about it. We dont know what to do and would simply like some guidance and advice on how to handle this matter. Its been days and we are still waiting on the sales manager to call us back. We call every day and theres always an excuse as to why he cant speak to us at the moment.Business Response

On or about December 16, 2024, I dropped off my 2024 Jayco travel trailer for ***airs at this dealer. My insurance company ****** explained to me they had a great relationship with Camping World and that this would be a smart move. I explained to the *** at Camping World that I used this for my business and needed it back as soon as possible. The *** said it may be a couple of months. I said that seemed unreasonable but she said they would move as quickly as possible. Nothing was done until around January 8, 2025, citing being short-handed. After pointing out the delay to the ***. I was told, "They will put it by the fence and you can come to get it". From that point, there have been numerous delays. They always have many excuses, from waiting for parts, to being short-handed, and anything else they can come up with. On Monday, March 10, 2025, I was told all the parts were in and it would be a couple of more weeks. I explained this to the service ***. ***** that this was unacceptable and I needed it by this Friday, March 14, 2025. **** said this was not going to happen. I was hired to replace an RV AC unit for a customer. In December of 2024, I was conducting work specifically replacing a Dometic AC unit for a customer. I was unable to replace the unit at the time but I found Camping World in *******, ****** had a unit to replace in stock. Since I couldn't pass on the no shipping cost to have a new item sent, I purchased the following unit from Camping World in *******, ******: Model #B57915E711J0 Serial #******** PO #********* Brisk II AC Black 410A 13.5 I purchased this unit 12/31/24. The unit was packaged in boxing with no visible damage. I purchased for $799.97 Camping World dealer price. The unit remained in my storage unit Feb 12. I unboxed and noticed the black shroud cover damaged at the rear screws, not a big issue. Upon inspection removing the black cover shroud, I immediately noticed the compressor bent back(pic), the rear condenser broken foam, the capacitor box leaning to rear, and fan drive pushed against condenser. The unit is completely damaged and unable to repair. I spoke to Camping World in ******* (******* Du Vall parts manager) who I purchased from, and I was told they would not take the return due to the time delay. Even though the receipt I have does not indicate "as is" product. This product was supposed to be new. I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with Camping World for selling me a completely broken product. I have the up most integrity dealing with my customers and expect same in return. This unit was sold by Camping World-Medford damaged and without completely unboxing and removing cover shroud would have never realized the damaged in beyond repair. Attached are pictures of the damage and receipt. Please let me know how I can resolve this issue as soon as possible so I can still get my customer taken care of in some capacity. Attached images of the broken product never installed.Business Response
