They sold me a sick dog and I want them pay for her entire treatment cost.

    Business Response

*********************************** adopted a dog named ***** from ** on 11/5/2023. On 11/21/2024 ******** notified us that ***** tested positive for heartworm disease. We informed ******** that we were unaware that ***** had heartworm disease as she had a negative heartworm test and had been on heartworm prevention. We requested that ******** send us the positive heartworm test from veterinary office. On 11/22/2023, ************************* sent us the heartworm test. We explained to ******** that sometimes the heartworm preventatives do fail or that the dog may have contracted heartworm but at the time of the heartworm test it was too soon for her to test positive. On 11/26/2023 after a board meeting to discuss ****** positive heartworm test, our organization offered to either cover ****** heartworm treatment at our vet, or provide ******** the amount in which it would cost ***** to be treated at our vet, which is $300. ******** did not accept either option that we presented to her to allow us to rectify the situation.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance regarding this matter as we do recognize the importance of this case.

    Thank you,

    Complaint: 21021408
    To whom it may concern,
I do not agree with their response. I contacted them when I learned she had heartworms. That was on the 17th of November because the vet that they wanted I go to was not familiar with and also did not know. I took her to a vet I am familiar with. I have another dog where I take him and Their offer for $ 300  wouldn't and doesn't provide for her total  treatment. I have paid more already to treat her and at present she is still undergoing treatment. Looking into the records for Halie they have given me shows no treatment for heartworm at all. So,they maybe never gave any heartworm. So being in not records would show that. my record of taking her for a wellness check dates of taking her to vet was actually on the 17th of November where I was told of her affliction . Their heartworm test was over a year. Dogs have need to be tested more that.  I want them to cover the complete cost of her affliction. It wasn't my knowledge upon her adoption.  For them to act unknowledgeable is wrong. The heartworm test should gave been performed sooner than when I did.

I am rejecting this response because:

    Pertaining to complaint #******** :

I am attaching screenshots of my emails and replies to ***********************. We have offered countless times for her to use our vet at our expense. This vet is one of our routine vet clinics where we have done at least 25 heartworm treatments within the last year alone. And it is a normal vet clinic that we receive a discount because we are registered dog rescue. We calculated how much treatment at our vet would cost and that is where our dollar amount came from. This is a very fair amount. We are very sorry that poor ***** has to go through this. *********************** has been rude, disrespectful, bullying, and harassing to myself, our adoption coordinator, ************************* mom, as well as Rescued Rascals. I am more than happy to send those screenshots of the text messages, but it is all the same. Thank you for helping to get this resolved and please let me know if there is anything else I can do or provide.

    Sincerely,
