I must file this complaint regarding the subject company with whom I have done business for many years and am now using my second water softening system purchased from them. I began having Culligan deliver softener salt to my home last year and the same delivery man always placed the bags of salt in my garage per my instructions. I then took the salt downstairs myself to add as needed to the brine tank.
Yesterday (May 23, 2023) at approximately 11:30 AM I walked from our master bedroom through our home and into the kitchen to exit the kitchen door to the garage. I was leaving for some errands and my wife had left a few minutes earlier for lunch with a friend. She had left our overhead garage door open for me as I was leaving shortly after her.
As I entered the kitchen I noticed that the kitchen door to the garage was open (my wife would not have left it that way) as was the opposite door leading to our fully finished and carpeted basement (see Photo #1). The basement lights were on. I then went down to the basement and observed 2 men - strangers who I had never seen before. I confronted these men who stated they were from Culligan and had just placed 4 bags of salt into my brine tank. They stated that they had knocked on my front door and had also rang the doorbell. When no one answered they then entered my home through the open overhead garage door and took the salt downstairs to the softener. They stated that some customers just allow then to do this. They stated they would update their files to indicate there was to be no entry into my home when making salt deliveries. Now, if such files actually existed these individuals would have seen that my salt deliveries had always been placed in my garage and that the home was not entered. I did observe a Culligan truck parked in front of my home.
Checking the floor around the softener revealed a lot of spilled salt (see Photo # 2).
I have never had a problem with the Culligan technicians who install and service their water softening equipment but these two delivery people need some training in the meaning of trespassing, and how not to make a mess when putting salt in brine tanks. They are fortunate that I didn't find any salt on our carpet.
At 11:48 AM I called Culligan and left a detailed message regarding this incident, and also requested a call back. No call back was received.

      Customer:
      ***** * **** ******** account: *******

We have been renting a ******** water softener since 2007. On August 22, 2022 we noticed decreased water pressure in our home and called ******** to schedule a service. We were scheduled for September 13, 2022. No one showed up or called. We called the office several times that week, as well as emailed the address on the website. We finally got them to answer the phone, no explanation was given, but we were rescheduled to September 22nd. They called and rescheduled us to September 23rd. On September 23rd, **** and another technician showed up, but did not have the parts to repair the water softener. They claimed they were not told of the pressure issue. They said they'd be out first thing Monday, September 26th. Another no show, no call. We texted **** that day to find out that his finance was having trouble with ******* internet in their home and he couldn't make it. He said he'd be there the next day and another no show, no call.

We verbally spoke with **** on October 4th and cancelled our service with ********. He indicated he would take care of it. We mailed a certified letter to cancel our service and we have proof of delivery on October 7th, 2022 at 10:09am. It has been almost a week and we still have not heard from anyone via phone, email, etc.

We need the rental unit removed from our residence because we are having another water softener installed by a local plumber. We also have still been receiving bills. We do not feel that we should be paying for a service that isn't being provided, and hasn't been for over two months.

      Hello!

******** did pick up the unit. They never sent me a bill again so I assume it’s handled.  I never heard from the office other than a text from the service guy saying he’d get the unit.

      Thanks!

We purchased a lease on Culligan water of Central IL. they came and put it in & hooked it up. It worked fine for awhile. We were told to call them if the red lights came on and they would bring salt and get it working. We called them nearly 4 or 5 times and were told there was no one in the area to take care of it. That has been 4-5 months ago. Still no help.
