The *************************** late June 2024 has had major issues, including a recall. When I first received the recall notice, I took it to **** Hubler, but since the check engine light was off, they said nothing could be done. I then moved out of state, and during the drive to **, I called ******** about the check engine light, which kept going on and off, along with a "fault engine service now" message. Once in **, I took the car to a **** dealership, paid out of pocket since the warranty didnt cover it, and fixed the initial issue. However, other issues arose, including a crankshaft problem, with the check engine light frequently reappearing. Ive taken the car to multiple mechanics (e.g., Brotherhood Automotive and a local Pembroke shop), paying out of pocket, but eventually stopped driving it. When a mechanic replaced the crankshaft, the car wouldnt start at all, requiring a tow to LaFayette ****, an hour away. Now, Im stuck paying for a non-working car without reliable transportation. My job requires frequent travel, but I have no Lyft or **** access. **** Hubler said I need to get the car to them for repairs, but Im in **, not *******. Repairs would cost $1,900 out of pocket after the warranty, despite **** Hubler claiming the warranty would cover everything. LaFayette **** estimated $7,900 in repairs, with a three-week delay, leaving me without a way to work..

    Business Response

I am writing in response to the case # *******-22D41 regarding ********* ****** 2017 **** Focus. After thoroughly reviewing **** Safety Recall 23S64, it has been determined that this recall will not be released by **** until the first quarter of 2025. The interim repair can only be performed if the engine failure is due to the engine oil pump belt failure causing loss of oil pressure.  Since the vehicle is currently out of state, and Mr. ***** has refused to have it towed back to our location, we are unable to ascertain the exact cause of the failure. Mr. ***** has informed us that another mechanic shop performed crankshaft repairs, and now the vehicle will not start. Given that the vehicle was worked on by another shop and we have no knowledge of their repairs, we cannot be held liable until we conduct our own diagnostics.  If the repairs by the other shop are unrelated to the open **** recall, Mr. ***** would need to contact his aftermarket 3rd party warranty provider. We have also reviewed with the 3rd party warranty provider and found there were no open claims or past claims for any engine repairs on file. As a result, we have no further warranty or assistance available currently.

    Sincerely,
    **** *****
