So I went into the community America location in *********** ****** to get documents notarized, I was refused notary services once we went into the bank by a team member , I wasnt provided a reason. They said they couldnt because they needed the birth certificate in which I had , and they still refused to notarize them. I told them that they were racially discriminating, Ive been a member for over 4 years and that I never had this problem at any other branch. Telling them I just had those same papers notarized in ********, so why are they giving me a hard time. The team member who initially told us to have a seat had just notarized someone else before she even got to us. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told that theyre legal team needed to look over the paperwork. I said so you all do this with everyone that comes in here? She states no we dont but just under these circumstances. The supervisor said the legal team needed to look over my paperwork, constantly making excuses on why they couldnt notarize my papers. After making a big fuse and letting it be known that I was recording. The supervisor ended up notarizing them because I was recording and ask me to delete the video if she notarized the paperwork. This happened August 12,2022 and I cant seem to find anywhere to file a complaint with community america.

Terrible, have had community America for over 7 years. Recently they just have turned terrible. I live out of state and have had nothing but issues with trying to remove a joint account owner that should of been removed 5 years ago when we requested and they never did. Then they go and cancel my card so I cant access my funds on accident when I was trying to get the other person removed who never had a card. They dont overnight the new card they send it **** business days keeping you from getting your money. Very unprofessional and have no awareness when you tell them you live out of state. I used to love them but I am taking my business elsewhere now because they cant seem to figure out how to do something correctly the first time. 5 calls to remove someone and instead they cancel your card.

Providing notary services is complimentary, and not required. By statute, employees are required to validate all documents are complete and that they have a general understanding of what is being notarized to document the transaction in their notary journal. Credit union employees are allowed to deny service if they are not comfortable with the document. In this instance, the document was unusual and contained language about a minor signing the document. Reluctance to allow the employee to review the document with the credit unions legal team made the notary uncomfortable. There was no discrimination based on race or any other factor. The document was ultimately reviewed by a manager and notarized. Complaints can be left directly with the credit union on our website, in the Contact Us section. We apologize for the frustrating experience and look forward to continuing to service the consumer's financial needs.
