    We have been members for a few years , we have found the condos to be old dated whatever ,.. there ok at best. But recently we had a week stay in Maui at the Maui sands condo "resort". The buildings are old but the place is relative ok,, The room they gave us was an absolute sh...hole.. Not like the pics on line at all.. Nasty old furniture that hadn't been cleaned in years carpet same .. A wall AC unit out of the 60's that rattled like a Blender from the same decade in the living room with nothing in the bedroom but a plastic standup fan.. Oh and a note on the fridge that said don't put too much stuff in fridge cuz it takes a while to cool down. Seriously !! Antique surprised I dint have to go buy blocks of ice and some salt with a horse & buggy. If you've ever been to Hawaii its 80 humid with a slight breeze ,, Well inside a condo it can get hot .. We called the number for Discovery and there's no one there by the time we checked in ,we told the property manager we weren't happy with the room and we're not staying.. We went to an air B&B ,, I didn't call the emergency number Global provided because I didn't think this was considered an emergency well apparently it is according to Corporate .. Fire Fire the room is on Fire .. We were so busy trying to get another room at 5 pm on a Friday in Maui .. Some vacation! you go on vacation to d-stress and immediately have the stress of finding another room.,, So according to corporate I made a critical error and didn't call their emergency number . Because of this fatal mistake of not thinking this was an emergency They credited me a whopping $100.00 Yippee ! wow ! Went out of their way on that one.. I wouldn't advise anyone to buy into this vacation club, its not what its made out to be ,..

    It is a nightmare. I signed up for the contract in Hawaii, and didn't realize how bad it is. They do not provide what they promoised. They just get in in the loop over and over again, whenever you are asking a condo, they alway tell you it's not available. I really need to get rid of this contract, they bondle me for 5 years!!!

    GDV membership, misleading or scam. We purchased a 2-star membership with a lot of promises in 2006. We used once. A condo request in Hawaii wasn’t approved. We were told it needed to be 12-months in advance. We also found booking cruises with GDV cost more than booking with cruise co. Early 2023, we consulted with GDV member service on how to effectivity request a condo in Hawaii. Following policy of “first come, first serve”, we went to the website each day to see if bookings were open and acted immediately. We submitted two condo requests in April 2023, for May 2024. 13 months ahead of time, the earliest allowed. In Nov 2023, we called GDV reservations to check the status, and told, be patient, we should receive info soon as we requested well ahead. On 1/18/24, we talked to GDV to confirm our reservation so we could book our flights. We were told no inventory available and that “You can cancel your request if you don’t want to wait.” On 1/19/24, we called GDV member service and Debbie called back, saying we will not have a condo as VIP members with 8-stars come first. We had never heard of this policy. No one during this entire period mentioned that VIP members come first. She said the rules had changed, and it would be $9000 more to become a VIP member. We can book any hotel in Hawaii with $9000, so why have GDV? We asked her if it was impossible, with our 2-stars, to ever book a condo in Hawaii. She didn’t reply. She claimed we weren't bumped out by VIP members. They booked first, which does not explain why we were told to be patient due to our early booking and we would get verification soon. When we said this was the first time, hearing of the VIP membership, she said it didn’t exist when we joined, and that “a call” to notify us of the policy change was made. We missed that call. No further attempt to contact us. We should have a chance to cancel our membership and get our payment back since GDV changed the membership contract from the one we signed.

    Horrible! We put our downpayment down and was paying $100 monthly ret our bill continued to rise. We did not get any of our free vacation. We tried using it once to go to ******* ****** and their rates were higher than a regular hotel. I got cancer and could not continue the payments and trying to get some help was impossible.

    If I could make this a zero, I would. My parents bough into Global a number of years ago and I have been able to book weeks through them. Over the last few years we have noticed the inventory we had access to was not near what it used to be. We we sat through a recent sale pitch on ************ ********* and as ********************* would say, got the rest of he story so to speak. Representative was talking about all of the resorts he had access to when he logged into his personal account which I indicated we had not nearly the same number. He goes to talk to his managers and to find out, they had been trying to reach my parents to discuss changes to the program. To make a long story short, I was told they or me needed to purchase more stars to become **** as my parents were considered legacy members and to keep their costs down, no longer had had access to all of the resorts that had to have their contracts renegotiated. In other words, newer customers are paying more for their memberships than my parents and now have access to all resorts that are available as well as the reduced numbers we have access to which reduces what we have access to. Not only is that bait and switch but not what my parents thought they were buying into. Whats worse is they could not guarantee if I purchased the additional stars to become **** that the same thing wouldnt happen to us down the road. We have discussed taking legal action and I would strongly discourage anyone from wasting your money on this scam. So disappointed for my parents to have spent all of that money and not get near what they expected. To quote my 80 year old father, tell them when you talk to them that this program ***** which I was happy to do on his behalf!! Dont waste your time or money!

It appears your father purchased his membership just over nine years ago and the membership has been used to take over twenty vacations since that time. We believe the new version of the membership provides additional membership opportunities. He is more than welcome to stay on his current version of the membership, and we will continue to book vacations. As I mentioned, we started offering the new membership in 2020, and he has still booked six vacations on his current membership.     We signed a contract with GVN for a reduced fee of $4518 on 2/20/08, after high pressure to do so, assuring us that we would be able to experience cost savings on trips, go to new places that would cost us less than booking on our own. I did not find this to be the case. When we were shown what places were available, we saw top of the line accomodations. At no time, did they show us that it would take 6 months or longer to book these places. When I went to look at places, to travel, all had reviews indicating that the places were run down and in need of updating. We also wanted to be able to travel with our dog, which is not the case. There were limited places available, if any, if you wanted to book a summer family vacation locally (in ********) or elsewhere. The system is difficult to navigate and I found that I could book my own accomodations at a cheaper price than what GDV offered, plus what I found were nicer accomodations. The accomodations I found were not only cheaper, but available within a reasonable amount of time and did not cost $4000 on top of the booking fee. ****************** was our friendly advisor during this first stint. We reached out to see how we could sell this or get out of this contract, on numerous occasions, as there is an annual fee. We were instead lured into coming in for a second look, as they had upgraded the accomodations and were now including hotels with GDV. We were once again suckered into another updated contract on 4/27/2019 paying $3600. Again, hotels through GDV did not allow for pets, nor were they cheaper and much more difficult to find availability. I have again reached out to them on numerous occasions, asking how we could either sell this or get a refund on our monies as this has done nothing other than providing commission to the representative. There has been no response from GDV. I reluctantly give a one star rating. If I could give zero stars , I would.

Unfortunately, as you stated, the vast majority of the resorts do ********** are not allowed which is why you mention in the membership materials pets are not allowed. You also mentioned the annual activity, which only has to be paid on the years you use the service. We do encourage members to book online or subm9it requests with as much notice as possible. If you can't provide notice, we do offer the member benefit called Expressways which are short notice vacation (under 60 days).     Very poor business, went on a vacation through them, they gave us the wrong numbers to open a lock box to get into our unit. Then we could not get in touch with them for help. We also rented two motel rooms on our vacation, they listed a price. One charged 14 dollars more, the other charged 17 dollars more. When we got home had to call 3 times to get in contact and got 0 results.The unit we stayed in was in need of attention. We had a note in pencil on how to use the ** and internet. Neither worked until we called maintenance. The maintenance person also had trouble with the ** and discovered that we had no internet assigned to our room. That was just the beginning of our "vacation". ***

    We spent $14,554.80 for our 8 star membership on 2/22/23 in Maui. Since then, I have tried repeatedly to find properties in locations we are visiting & there is absolutely nothing available. I have tried booking hotels with the same problem. I have tried their various membership services with no positive results for our needs. I find no savings when trying to book anything through this company. The Maui folks were very pleasant & appeared to want to help in every way. The Maui properties are next door to where we stayed at the ************** are very unimpressive.The cancellation policy was not completely clear coming from the sales people or from the phone call we received. We would have cancelled in the time frame had we understood the policy. We do not feel we have gotten or will get our monies worth out of what we paid out. We want a complete refund as we have received no compensation in any way from this company's proclaimed benefits.

    Staying at The Sunrise Resort through our Global Connections condo group reservation and very, very disappointed with the poor condition of the condo. We brought family with ** and I am embarrassed. Everything was dirty. Bathroom shower curtain has mold and mildew on it. Dirty dishes put away in cabinet. Dryer has the lint screen full. Floors dirty. No light cover on light in guest bedroom. Box fan broke (needed for back bedroom because it was so warm). Door to patio could barely open. Just one thing after another. Global Connections should give ** our money back. All these charges and up charges and rules! What about our rights as paying reservationists for years! Where do my promises get fulfilled. Management is going down the tubes. Been a member for 20 years and sad to say each year seems to be going more and more down hill. How can i refer family and friends? Its an embarrassment.
