One of my exes started an account with sun tan city and the people there tell me that she has to cancel the account and I can't get her to. I've switched debit cards but it's still pulling money out of my account and it has been 5 years since I tried to cancel it. $35 a month for 5 years and I can't stop it.Business Response

I signed up for a month to month contract to be cancelled at any time. I went into the business in September to cancel. I was given a form to fill out to cancel prior to the next draft October 1. I have since been charged hundreds of dollars and the company refuses to acknowledge my cancellation or issue a refund. I never used the service again after the long I cancelled and they claim it wasn’t cancelled so they will

This client signed up for a 12 month commitment membership on 5/15/2023. In January 2024, the client reached out to our Customer Service Department and spoke with a Supervisor regarding his account and the charges he was seeing. We assisted him with cancelling the membership this day, and submitted a refund for $253.16 which includes October 2023 - January 2024 membership payments, as he has not tanned since September. This client has been taken care of, and the refund was successful. He has not been drafted for his membership since January 2024.

We are able to see that this client signed into their online account last on 1/28/2024 at 4:28 pm. The client is able to cancel through their online account or at their local salon. Due to any issues the client was experiencing regarding the process of cancelling on the app, we have submitted a refund for the month of March as a courtesy as they have not tanned. For the month of February, we have submitted for a Glow Card which is an electronic gift card that will arrive via email for them to use as in-store credit at a later time for future promotions, single sessions, product, etc. The clients membership has been cancelled and we have sent an email confirmation to the client of the cancellation.

I had signed up for a $1 down membership with suntan city for the VIP All Access on 02/19/2024. I had the intention to turn off auto renewal for the subscription so I could just have access to the membership for the remainder of the month because I wanted to try out everything as I don’t tan very often and typically just go to tan or spray tan when there is promos going on such as the free tan week or 99 cent tanning, but to my disappointment, there was zero option of doing so after submitting the payment. On 03/01/2024 Sun Tan City attempted to bill my account for $105.49 but was denied due to insufficient funds. After trying to figure out how to cancel this membership, I’ve been made aware that there is zero information on any form of social media or any website other than Sun Tan City’s on how to cancel/freeze the account. The website says “download the app to cancel or freeze your membership”. I did exactly that and was even more confused and upset when I seen that isn’t even an option to do that on the app but only ways to upgrade my account or to update my banking info. So now I’m at a complete loss as to what I am supposed to do because I cannot afford to pay for this nor did I even want to continue the subscription outside of the given promotion time frame.
I cannot afford for this to be sent to collections and ruin my credit as it isn’t the best right now due to medical bills.

I purchased a coupon $17.95 Nov. 6 2023. But was told at the salon I wasn't allowed to use it because I had already bought the same coupon. Nowhere on the promotion does it tell you this. I asked to have my money refunded back to my debitcard but was told no. I was told I had to accept a giftcard instead. On 2/18/2024 I bought another coupon, different from the last one, $19.95. Once again was told I wasn't allowed to use it because it was the same promotion as the last one just a higher price. Again nowhere on the coupon does it state this. I ask, once again for my money to he refunded back to my debitcard and am told no. I would have to accept a giftcard.
So I've bought 2 different coupons with my debitcard. Not been allowed to use the coupons because of it being the same promotion. This is stated nowhere on the coupons. And have been refused a refund on both purchases. I was made to take a suntan city giftcard both times. I can't imagine how this can be legal. A customer service representative attempted to contact this client to clarify further on why the client was under the impression she was not able to use the promotion she purchased. Currently there is a refund request submitted back to the original form of payment that we will process if the client does not reach back out to us in 2-3 business days to confirm if she would like to keep the promotion and tan on the visits she purchased, which they are absolutely welcome to. Our records show that she had this refund request submitted through client services on the 18th, and the reasoning being that she no longer wanted the promotion. Currently we are waiting to hear back from this customer.

I am rejecting this response because:the lady at the counter in Morristown tn told me I couldn't use the $19 tan coupon because I had already used it. I replied I had used the $9.99 tan coupon. She said they are the same coupon. I then asked for a refund, she responded I would have to take a giftcard. I never stated I didn't want the tan coupon. I was told I couldn't use it. Same thing happened in November 2023. I had bought a tan coupon in November, same store, same lady at the counter. I was told I couldn't use that coupon. I asked for a refund and was told I would have to take a giftcard. So I've bought 2 coupons and both times told I couldn't use them because I already had. When I asked for a refund I was told I had to take a giftcard. I still have the giftcard i was forced to take in November. Someone is being dishonest. This lady is telling customers they can't use the coupons and then saying she can't refund their money and forcing them to take giftcards. I was never told this last time I would get my money refunded to the original payment. I was told I would have to take a giftcard. And I'm actually fine with having my money refunded back to the original payment I just wanted to be able to voice whats going on at this particular store. If your going to advertise a coupon you should put the specifics on the coupon. If that coupon isn't allowed to be used for another 365 days then that coupon shouldn't be allowed to be purchased. I feel like you use these coupons to get people to your store and then tell them they can't be used so they'll buy something else because their already there. It's a shady despicable way to get business.

I am rejecting this response because: I'm thankful that I'm getting refundedI just purchased a spray tan package from suntan city. It's a $49.99 promotional package. It says its for regular spray tans. Suntan city doesn't advertise anything different that this type of spray tans. I went for the first time today to use my spray tan package and was told the package i bought doesn't include the dark spray, eventhough it doesn't state this anywhere on the promotion. I had to pay an extra $7.54 for the darker shade. If i wanted my legs sprayed twice is was going to be $13.54. What is wrong with your business? You are misleading people. Your cons, bottom line. I just paid $50 for a package plus $10 for yearly dues for a spray tan and had to pay an extra $7.54 for the darker shade. And will have to pay this same $7.54 esch time i use the package i bought just to get the darker shade. So if i use the spray tan 4 times in a month for $49 it will actually cost me an extra $30 for one shade darker. I knew not to try and give the benefit of the doubt. This is probably why you have hundreds of complaints and bad reviews. Try being upfront and honest with people. I despise businesses like this. And to top it off i had to listen to the counter girl for 5 minutes try and push lotions and spray down my throat.

On November 9, 2023 I went in to the store to cancel my account as i had moved to Florida. I was told by the gal at the counter that I had a 275.00 credit and because I no longer lived anywhere near a Suntan City that I would be contacted and they would issue me a refund. After 2 months of not being contacted I reached out on their website to inquire about my refund and was told it would be escalated and someone would contact me. Another 2 months passed and still no contact. No I am being told that I can not have a refund and I have store credit. I live 1500 miles away so what good does a store credit do me? I went to Sun Tan City for tanning services and had a terrible experience, I was miss charged and given miss information. I tried to resolve the issue with the business directly and asked for a full refund. I was told I had to call their customer service line the next business day 1/08/24 and provide them my credit card information and a full refund would be issued. I called line and got nothing but the run around. I was finally told that they would issue me a full refund and was give the refund ticket * ******* and told it could take 7-14 days for the refund to be processed. It has been 18 days and still no refund. Given the way this whole situation has been handled my guess is that they never intended to provide the refund and hoped I would forget to check for the refund 14 days later. This is absolutely unacceptable. I have utilized this same enterprise in multiple other cities and never once had an issue before.Business Response

I signed up for the spray tan membership in October I believe. After getting spray tans I realized my skin was very icht and went to doctor. I found out that I had an allergic reaction to my most recent spray so I decided to call sun tan city and cancel my membership. I called sun tan city late November to cancel my membership. The lady who I spoke with over the phone was very kind and proceeded to tell me that everything was taken care of and that I should be receiving an email. Well fast forward to today I was checking my bank statements and saw that I was charged twice for sun tan city since the cancellation December 3rd and January 3rd. A total of $126. I went to search for the email and never received one. I then call sun tan city to try and get the problem resolved. I was then told by the new lady that without proof of my cancellation I will not be able to get a refund… I asked the lady if she could see when my last visit to the salon was she confirmed it was mid November. I have not been back since I was told it was cancelled. I’m just very upset that I am paying the price for the mistake of the employee who took my call. I was told there was nothing that could be done for me other than a glo ray card that can only be used in the salon….i really would like my refund for the two months that was taken out after I called to get the membership canceledBusiness Response

I had filed a complaint against Suntan City about a month or 2 ago and I was told that I was going to be re-embursed monies that they had kept taking out of my checking account after I had closed my account with them. The problem was I had closed my account and the gal working neglected to have me sign a piece of paper. However, if you look back to the date I cancelled, I have never returned because I assumed I did everything I needed to do.
However, they have been taking funds out every month looking like I am still a member. Last payment that was taken out again was $49.99 in Feb.
Again, I did my part by telling them I was done using thier business due to unhappiness with thier spray tans. it is NOT my fault the gal did NOT complete the process correctly and not have me sign a agreement or whatever sheet. Again, NOT MY FAULT.

We have attempted to submit a refund for this client for the months of November - February, but are in need of a valid address or CC information for the refund to process back to. Unfortunately, the client has not returned our calls. The last attempt to contact her was on 2/16. We will attempt to contact this client once more to provide a resolution and process a refund.
