On Wednesday, August 23, we dropped of our daughter's piccolo for pad replacement and maintenance after having contacted the store by phone asking for an estimated length of time required for the service and being told a turnaround of 5 to 7 days. Upon arriving at the store, we were then told that the service could not be done that quickly, but a timeframe was not given. When we heard this, we began to leave, but ********* **** graciously offered to provide a loaner instrument so our daughter could continue to perform. ********* showed our instrument to ****** the repair specialist, who assessed the need to replace 9 pads at a cost of $150.00 and thought he could get it done in the time frame quoted. On August 29th, we called the business to inquire about the instrument and the repair progress and were told that it was complete. On August 31 our daughter went to pick up the instrument. She discovered that only four pads were replaced and was charged $116.00. She was told that ***** did what he could do for a "rush" job. We never asked for a rush job, only asked for a time estimate when we called to begin with. I spoke with *** ******** by phone while my daughter was in the store. *** wanted to tell me that ***** decided the job was a rush and did what he could, but would not explain how we were charged $116.00 for four pads when 9 pads were quoted at $150.00. I asked *** to refund my daughter's money since they did not perform the duties quoted or requested, but *** refused to offer any resolution. I offered to pay $67.00 for four pads, since 9 at $150.00 would amount to $16.67 per pad, but *** refused that as well. I instructed my daughter to take her instrument and come home. We have paid the bill of $116.00. We would like to have $83.00 refunded for what was overcharged based on the quote and actual service, or are open to another form of resolution that may be offered by the store.
