We hired ******* ********, chef/owner of Comfort Eats & More to cater our wedding on 10/16/23. We paid $2,853.02 for a serviced buffet (75 people). We had a clause added to our contract stating he would prepare a separate meal for my father with a garlic allergy & for our groomsman who has several deadly allergies. We specified the allergens &asked for the meal be prepared in a separate space w/ separate utensils to ensure no cross-contamination. We spoke w/ ******* about this at our food tasting & ensured it was added to the contract. ******* assured us verbally, through contract, & via email that he would take full precautions. However, at our wedding, he not only neglected to have a separate meal at all for our groomsman but served him food containing one of the specified allergens-he only realized his mistake when our groomsman pressed him for the contents of the salad before eating it. ******* said it would be safer for our groomsman to not eat because he had not taken precautions & could not ensure it was safe. Also, he provided my father w/ a partial meal prepared without garlic leaving out half of the buffet. Lastly, the meat options that were served to the rest of the guests were overcooked, tough, & dry leaving most of our guest unable to eat the meal we paid for.
Kendell severely endangered the life of our groomsman, under-served my father& served poor quality food to our guests.
We emailed ******* on 10/21/23 asking for a refund/ stating our concerns. He did not reply so we sent a follow up email on 10/27/23 stating that if we did not receive a reply by 11/01/23 that we would be submitting a complaint to the BBB. ******* responded stating the maximum refund he could offer was a "15% managers compensation refund." We responded on 11/01/23 stating that we felt the disregard for safety in addition to the poor quality of the service was worth more than the 15% he offered and would accept a minimum of a 50% refund. ******* has not responded as of 11/15/23.
