Our Living room floor which is made of real wood popped up one day by the front door due to water damage. So i went online to find a company to give us an estimate to fix it and because this company had a BBB rating i called them for an estimate and a lady named **** ******** and her boyfriend came out and gave 6000 so she agreed to do the work for that much .We gave her an initial check for 3000.00 for material and half the cost, well they sent one oung man out to tear out the floor and came back and said there are some rotten boards to be changed uderneath and that will be another 2500( three) to be exact so my husband said this should be included in the price you quoted ad she swore up and down that she said if they found other damage it would be more which she never stated that and she wanted half the money to buy the boards upfront which was 1250 which we gave .She ended up buying 1/4 inch plywood 14.50 a sheet at lowes which was too thin because old floor was 5/8inch and refused to change it when my husband said someting about i t. She ran back to her office and came back with a contract for 2500 ad wrote o 1/4 inc plywood which we didnt catch so my husband had called the sherriff dept on them because he was so mad with her attitude and refusing to change the 1/4 inch plwood to the 5/8 so we ended up hiring someone else to finish the job and had to go purchase the right plywood and new flooring while she kept the flooring that we gave her money to buy .So we spent another 2293.00 to get the job finish and she turned in 1250 to collection agency on me ***** ******** not my husband when she gave no receipts for noting she purchased and kept all the new flooring that we paid for and probably got the money back for. So she got a total of 4250.00 for tearing out the old floor and changing three rotten boards and nailing wrong plywood which had to be taken off by person finising the job plus kept money for returning the flooring to lowes.

I filed the complaint because Geaux Bayou,LLC sent a collection amount of 1250.00 to a collection agency out of Florida saying that I ***** ******** owe them 1250.00 dollars

and i dont feel that we,my husband and I dont owe them anything BECAUSE they refuse to replace that thin plywood with the right plywood and did not return the new flooring that they purchased with our money and gave no receipts for the things they purchased with our money which was a total of 4250.00 .The first check was isuued on 09/01/2022 for 3000.00

and the second payment was issued on 09/05/2022 for 1250.00.When my husband called their office to talk to ***** about a certified letter that she was trying to get me to pick up

and i never did she hung up on him.We had to pay someone else to finish the job.I emailed photos of the unfinished floor and will bring in copies of my payments because i dont know how to upload any documents.

    Business Response

    Date: 12/08/2022

We were pleased to assist Mrs. ******** to replace her wood floor for vinyl plank. When we went to do our inspection of the project we found out that were some damage to the entrance wood flooring at the time, and they advised that what they wanted to do it was to replace the entire flooring living room area as they either wanted to go with vinyl plank of maybe ceramic tile but at the end after I presented them different options they chose to go with waterproof vinyl plank option and color. Once that was determined we offered and estimate to which they were more than happy to accept as from the get-go they had concerns with their budget for the replacement of the flooring but at the end both us agreed on price.

I advised through an estimate what was expected and also with the cost for materials and labor to which they accepted happily. At some point expressed that we needed to see what we could find since the flooring was original to the old home and she advised they were aware of the age of the wood flooring and if some repairs needed to be done they were open to that idea. All materials were purchased and we did the demo and once that was done we found out the some of the joist were found to be damage as well with original plywood needed to be replaced as it was completely damaged. GBC advised to the homeowners that we could definitely replace all damage materials for new ones and proceeded to provide an estimate for materials and labor of $2500.00. They accepted the estimate and I clarify at the time that the half of the balance was to be paid for materials and labor and the remaining was to be paid once the repairs were done and Mr. ******** did get upset because he could not pay anymore money as he was paying already to pay to have the flooring replaced. His wife explained to him that the repairs to be done in order to have new flooring installed as no one knew what was underneath the floor even before the wood floor was removed. She wrote a check for $1250.00 to ****** * ****** (to whom is the co-owner of GBC). When the repairs were completed and time to collect the remaining balance for the money owed on that repair(s) they completely denied to pay us for it and asked to leave their property. He was speaking to us in a tone that was not polite nor comprehensible specially me being a Latin-American woman. I left the premises and my business partner ****** tried to speak with them and confirm that our intentions were to finalize their project.

Unfortunately, after many phone calls to set up the install of the new flooring and attempting to deliver it, they were not open for GBC to do so as they advised ****** they already had someone else to the job for them and clear and loud let us know not to spend any money for the install of the new flooring nor the repairs that were done. Lets remember that the flooring was never installed but all materials were purchase and 80% of those materials were delivered to their home as we always like to have materials at worksite available. The repairs were a separate job and was to be paid once was done, to our surprise they did not pay us for the remaining even though we call, text to try to save the project at the end this was impossible. Later on the invoice for the remaining of the subfloor repairs was sent and dismissed by them.

GBC, tried its best to do the ethical but unfortunately Mrs. ******** and husband were not open to it. We feel sorry nothing else could have done to repair their discontent to their personal opinions & judgments toward us even though we tried hard enough to communicate. For GBC this is a learning experience as we did not experience it before our customer and formers customers can differ from the ********'s personal opinions as we have been blessed to provide a great customer service experience and great project expectations and delivery.
