I purchased a chair lift from Stannah, spent $4,895, after the passing of our loved one I asked Stannah to come and remove the chair and I'd like to participate in the retail buy back policy whereby they give you 30%, 20% or 10% back depending on how much time has passed. The woman in the other end said, sorry we don't have that policy anymore. It didn't matter that I purchased the lift with that policy in place, she said sorry! We changed our policy. Well, isn't that convenient? Your policies mean nothing if you can change them anytime. I do not recommend this company.

I am submitting this to warn people of their unorthodox business practice. I went online and submitted a request for a brochure only. The site requires you to provide a phone number, which I used my home number. Apparently, I must have crossed a number because I receive a call from a salesperson on my cell phone. The salesperson stated that they did a search to find my cell number. Doing a search and calling me on a number I didn't authorize them to have is an invasion of my privacy. Especially when I know I marked I only wanted a brochure. My concern is to what extent did the salesperson conduct a search. I will be speaking with the Attorney General to determine if this action is within the law.

After my mother passed away, I contacted Stannah with regards to the removal of the stairlift she purchased from the company. The salesman told her that, depending on its age, the company would be willing to repurchase the unit for a reduced price. He also gave her a written Retail Buy-Back Policy which stated that Stannah would pay 10% of the purchase price within 3 years of installation and after that would provide free removal. The company's representative stated that the policy had changed and that Stannah would no longer pay for used stairlifts but would remove them for free. After discussing this with my family, I called to accept these terms. The representative was out so I left a message accepting the terms and waited for a call back. I had to call twice more and send two letters (the second with a cc to the ************************** before the representative called back. I was informed that there would a charge for the removal because the policy had changed. I told the representative that this was a written representation by Stannah that could not be revoked retroactively and asked to speak to a supervisor.. The representative called back several minutes later and agreed to a free removal. An appointment was set up for that Friday between 10 AM and noontime. No one came. I called Stannah four times that afternoon and left messages with no response.By its nature a stairlift is a temporary purchase. At some point the customer will have to go into assisted living and/or die. The company's removal policy and customer service are therefore important. Based on my experience, I will stay away from Stannah if I need a stairlift in the future.

Thank you ****************** for sharing your feedback. Our records indicate your initial stairlift removal date was rescheduled for three days later due to an emergency situation with our staff. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Sincerely, The Stannah Team
