***** runs the tennis business in our town and my son (a high school student) was a member for a year. After a year, my son didn't want to play anymore and I wasn't planning to renew the membership. In April 2023, I had some health issues and was hospitalized for several days. I had my first surgery done at the ***********************, and then 3 other surgeries during the summer. It was a difficult summer. At the end of Aug, I noticed $225 charged to my credit card from the New England Tennis Center. I emailed ***** and he said it was an automatic renewal on credit card. He asked me if *** wanted to continue to play. I called and left him messages explaining that my son didn't want to play anymore and requested a refund. He didn't respond. I emailed a number of times during the year but he never responded. I tried to call the number listed on the website, no response at all. It has been almost a year and I decided to ask for help. ***** does not provide sufficient window time for refund processing (3 days last year) and he is very much lacking proper communication skills. I filed this complaint because 1. I checked my email and noted that an email alerting the membership renewal was sent on 8/13/23 at 10:14am. However, the credit card was charged on 8/16/23. There was no window of time for customers to cancel the membership. 2. There was no direct instruction on how to cancel the membership and when to cancel the membership last year. They may have some policy in place now. *****, as an owner of the business, never explained it in the email. 3. I was in multiple surgeries last summer and was not capable of handling my son's extracurricular activities. I was hit by huge medical bills. On top of that, my daughter is in college and we need to pay college bills. So the $225 is important to **** am kindly asking the BBB to reach out to ***** and deliver this message. Kindly ask for a check refund to my home address on file.
