      We needed an updated plot plan to obtain a permit from the town for a small house renovation. We contacted a surveyor ********************* from Essex Engineering and Survey to provide us with the plot plan. He charged us a fee of $1600. His crew came over and did the measurements. ***** provided us with a plot plan and collected his payment. After a careful review of the plot plan we discovered a mistake . The plan stated that the setback from the porch to the sidewalk was ****". Our zoning requirement is 20". We remeasured the distance from the sidewalk to the porch and it is more than 20". We contacted ***** by phone, text message and email and notified of the mistake. we asked him to verify his measurements and correct the mistake. He promised he would do it but then he disappeared, stopped returning our phone calls or responding to the email. We paid for the service in full and now stuck with the plot plan that cannot be used. This surveyor cannot be trusted. While we are filing a small claim against him we want to share our experience so that other customers avoid *********************/Essex Engineering and Survey not to find themselves in the same situation. Now as we researched about his business online we found many negative reviews from his customers. I wish we had done our homework before contracting with him.
