Citizens disability was hired to help with a disability claim I had attempted to file due to physical disability preventing me from being able to work. After allowing them to represent me I received no further communication and when I called for information on my claim they provided nothing and just ignored me and drew out the process to ********** their portion of my first payment. I had to contact an actual disability attorney to get information and was told that it is a scheme they use to maximize their profits with no regards to my condition. It cost me over $10,000 by them not informing me that I could apply for early retirement from social security. I had informed them that I was In serious financial trouble and they did nothing to inform me of options. It has been over one year and finally called not to inform me of any updates but to ask if I had kept a Dr's. Appointment. They did not contact me to let me know that an appointment had been scheduled...I found out about the appointment from the doctors office 2 days prior to the appointment. All they had to ask me after over a year without contacting me if I had kept the appointment. I blasted the agent about their lack of interest in contacting me and accused them about only being concerned in any percentage that they were entitled to for the minimal effort that was applied to my condition. I was misled by them as to what they would do for me by choosing them as an advocate for me on this claim. They are nothing more than scammers trying to steal benefits from clients while providing no support to anyone foolish enough to choose them for help. They do nothing for clients and need to be exposed for the lies and lack of support or actions to help their clients. There were no reviews on them when I chose them and future possible clients need to be warned of the type of poor service they provide.Business Response

I retained citizens disability back in 2022 after I initially had filed an application for disability and because they got my late husband his disability within 8 months I strongly believed in them however it's been a night mare ever since.Upon initial intake they informed me that they would file my claim and would perform and follow-up on ALL of required documents/tasks required for my claim from beginning to end. Really not paying attention or tracking them for I felt I had a good company behind me a year or so later I was notified of a denial by social security themselves when I contacted them for assistance. I contacted citizens disability, who at that point sounded like they didn't know who I was and then lo and behold I received notification two or three weeks later that they filed an appeal so it was like I woke a sleeping dog. Once again never heard from CD until I received a second denial which is almost unheard of people usually get it within a year. Now they tell me they filed for a hearing and they need more medical documentation and I'm the one who has to provide all of this after they told me originally they would handle everything. From what I've been told by local attorneys I have numerous disabilities that would qualify me immediately such as arthritis, scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, PTSD, major depressive disorder to name a few. Each time I contact CD granted I get a live person however the answer they give is the same in a robotic voice, as they read from a script I never get an answer as to what's going on just that they are working on things. I ask to speak with a supervisor surprisingly no supervisors available try to get ****** ******** or anybody of authority not even an attorney can you get on the phone. This is going on three years now when it should have been resolved within a year all I want is my disability and the compensation they're looking for for all the work I've done, it's ridiculous what they want.Business Response

Citizens disability is a useless company. They initially call me right after I was released from the hospital (triple bypass surgery) after having a heart attack. They represented themselves as social services and convinced me I needed representation and to file for disability. I was NOT recovering well. I signed paperwork with them (honestly did not realize what I was doing at the time since I was in such bad shape). Fast forward through the process..months with NO contact with citizens disability. I worked with the disability department..sending in medical records. NO HELP AT ALL. After what seemed like an eternity..I was nearing a medical review appointment with the disability department doctorsNOW citizens disability sends a letter to me stating that this event is exciting and that they are with me all the way. Mind you.they had never contacted me to this point. I emailed citizens disability and requested they remove themselves from my case. They did not respond. I emailed daily for some time. I called them and spoke to someone who did not have the English language mastery to understand a thing I was saying. I continued to regularly email them demanding they remove themselves from my casethey would ******** forward againI continue with the disability department.Appeal, DENIED. FINALLY I RECEIVE AN EMAIL from citizens disability..stating that they are withdrawing from my case, BUT THAT THEY CLAIM THEIR SHARE OF MY MONEY IF I RECEIVE BENEFITS. Question isFOR WHAT???I call and talk to citizens disability. Their worker says that thwy are owed for ALL THE WORK THEY DID. And that they had CARRIED MY CASE THROUGH THE APPEAL PROCESS. Thats the only answer she could give when I asked repeatedly to prove to me what services I would be paying for..WHAT HAD THEY DONE FOR MY CASE????They did NOTHING and therefore are owed NOTHING . My case is now closed. I am nearly homeless. I am STILL unable to work.Business Response

On January 29, 2025, I belatedly learned after initiating an inquiry directly to the *** that my SSDI claim had been closed without a hearing on a date which is still unknown to me. Citizens Disability, which has been my advocate for the past approximately 3 years, has failed to file a request for reconsideration of my closed claim; further failed to notify me my case had been closed without a hearing; further failed to notify me of my November 4, 2024, denial and their November 25, 2024 appeal on my behalf; and have further fallen below a reasonable standard of competence in several aspects of handling communication for my claim prior to my most recent complaints listed above including sending communication to my old address even after their claiming they updated it on April 1, 2024. I emailed Citizens Disability on January 30, 2025, to request that they withdraw from my case and file a Fee Waiver with the **** On January 31, 2025, I received a reply from ******* stating, . . . We can certainly close your claim on our end. However, we will not be waiving fees for your claim. I never signed a contract with Citizens Disability and am now impeded from entering into contract with new and competent legal representation due to Citizens Disabilitys refusal to waive fees. Better Business Bureau:
Attorney J.K. from Citizens Disability (CD) personally reached out to me via phone in response to my BBB complaint and spent over an hour reviewing my entire claim history. In defense of CD, it would appear that the ****************************** may have failed to maintain adequate communication with CD in some respects, however, it would also appear that my original concerns about CD's communication with me were not without some basis. Attorney J.K. graciously and promptly filed documents with the *** to withdraw from my case and waive fees which is precisely what I had requested. CD's response does satisfy my issues in reference to complaint #********. I understand that by choosing to accept the business response that my complaint will be closed as resolved.

I spoke with them on October 31, 2024 and they lied saying they needed information to see if qualified. Now they are out there blocking me from getting help getting disability. It takes long enough to het this looked at and this is making it longer. I never signed anything and made it clear I do mot want there help. When I call them they say I am not a client but will not discuss being on my account! They are a scam hoping I just do myself and they get money. I did not sign anything did not hire them. I am going to eventually get through to social security because this is fraud. Consumers need to not call them at all they will trick you.Business Response

I have attached documentation from social security administration showing that Citizens Disability clearly started a benefit request on my behave without my permission or signature and now have clearly lied to you stating they have not. I also have tried to get them to remove this and they also claim they have not done it when I call them. As the attached is an official document sent to me I hope rhis is proof enough.
As I will not be hiring Citizens nor did I ever, I feel they should remove this request.

Citizens Disability apologizes for the confusion regarding this situation. We entered the individual's information in the *** application system to ascertain if they were a valid individual. The individual freely gave this information on a recorded line. When the individual chose not to proceed, we did not move forward. We did not file an application for the individual with the *** or submit any documentation to the ***. There was no application for benefits filed by Citizens Disability. *** can confirm this. Again, we apologize for the confusion.Initial Complaint

This company is relentless. I dont know how they got me on their list of being in need of disability because Im not disabled. They call up to 25 times a day! Every SingleDAY!. Its unbearable, overwhelming. I have begged, I have pleaded within to stop. Literally over 100 times. You cant tell me that its that difficult to take someone off their list. I have been more than patient with this god-awful company. It is 9:30 AM and they have already called nine times today. Nine times! Theyve even called while I was already on the line with them! Its unbearable and overwhelming yet no matter what I tell them it is obvious that their job is to just call call call call call its like Ive been cursed.citizens disability or CD (SEEDY) cant possibly score an A+ unless the Better Business Bureau is now going by how inseparable a company is. How much does it cost a company to buy an A+ ? Ridiculous I dont even know why Im bothering with this.Business Response
