I bought my condo in August 2024, ********************** **************************. I met with three different contractors to receive quotes. Ultimately I hired Resilient Construction LLC ***********************************. I signed a contract with Resilient Construction LLC aka **** ***** in September 2024. The original contract simply stated was a remodel of the main bathroom, new cabinets in the kitchen, and the bigger project of creating a master suite with a new bathroom, closet, and moving of the laundry room. The work at my unit up to now March 2025 has not been completed. I recently received a new quote from another contractor and the cost estimate is more than double due to the errors from Resilient Construction. Many times and many visits **** ***** has failed to bring about a general livable space for my children and I. Due to the callus nature of the work **** ***** has approached this contract I have had to find alternate living arrangements for I, my two kids (one which is actively receiving cancer treatments) and our dog. These expenses for living outside our home have now surmounted past $30,000. Currently I am unemployed and now relying on charity for basic necessities.**** ***** multiple times has promised a new completion date every single month since the contract was signed. The first date was for the first week of November. Subsequently two different dates in December, and lastly January 4th. I then sent Resilient Construction LLC a demand letter to which **** ***** agreed to and yet again has failed to meet any deadlines. Many times I have requested a detailed project plan and have never received one. I have paid more than 75% of the project cost. Additionally I have provided **** ***** with money for outside scope requests and those have not been completed either such as: popcorn ceiling upgrades, upgrading the unit with additional outlets, handmade bedroom and closet door, and a refrigerator.

In Jan 2023, I started renovating my property located at ********************************************There was this contractor, Resilient Construction LLc /*******************, he contacted me and sent me a couple quotes.Through some discussion, I was ok with the quotes. There was one quote job total $12,366 for the wall paint and floor.Pls see the attached file. He asked almost 50% of the prepayment, $6000.On Jan 9th 2023, I gave him the prepayment of $6000 even I know this job will be a while away.See the check, and cashed check copy attached.Later, there was something I started to feel more and more losing the trust to him. After consideration, I decided to not use this contractor. On Mar 3, I noticed him by email to cancel the job and request the prepayment money back.On Mar 3, he responded that's OK, he'd do some simple calculation then he'll send me the result. But there was no response after that. I had to send a few more emails. On Mar 16, he said he would take care of it as soon as possible. Then there is still nothing so far.I have sent multiple emails and text about returning me the $6000 pre-payment, there is no response at all.The second complaint - I have paid him for demolition job total of $6200 in Jan and Feb. He promised to send me inv, But he never did. I requested multiple times, there is no response. In a summary, my complaint to this contractor, ******************* /Resilient Construction LLC:1. Return the pare-payment of $6,000 for the job been cancelled. Job is not started, material is not purchased.2. Provide the invoices for the demolition paid: $4,200 for the second floor demo; $2,000 for the first floor partial demo.

I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint.

Please suggest how BBB could help me to resolve the issue, and also help any future customers fall into the trap of this company.

    Thank you!

After reading about this issue I have to say I am extremely surprised. I first found out about this complaint thanks to another client who informed me. The situation its completely different as what she said. While working at ********* ( a two family house) I was halfway with the existing job from unit #2 while during winter a pipe broke and flooded unit #1. i was called to attend to this matter immediately. Usually I dont do any work without having a signed contract with a client but since I was already doing work at the upstairs unit I put my trust in her and Immediately started the work with my guys in order to prevent more damage due water damage.

While doing the demo and cleaning out the mess I was asked again for another favor and it was to deal with the insurance company directly which i did at no extra charge, i spent hours of work in paperwork, emails and phone calls with the insurance company, I gave the insurance company an estimate that after further review was accepted. Once they gave us the OK , I was asked by Miss ** to give her a better price, I was not happy about it and told them I already gave the insurance company the real price I that was not going to bring my current price down. She responded a few days later by firing me and hiring a much cheaper contractor. I can go on and say a few no so honest thing she wanted to do but I am not the type of person who is going to snicth on my clients. Later on I did a change of order for the work that was already done and after doing the math I didn't have to pay her anything back, she is the one who actually owns me money but I decided to move on and learn from this experience.

I have proof of all the work performed by us by the way and I can continue on saying a few more things if things escalate.

Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below; if you do not provide any details, your complaint will be closed as Answered.

The contractor is playing game to mix the 1st floor water damage with the 2nd floor renovation. Those are totally two different things.

My complain is about two problems with 2nd floor renovation:

    1. The contractor took the prepayment $8000 for the 2nd floor renovation job. He didn't do any of the work, and did not return the money. Even he  emailed me that he would take care of, but basically he played disappearing, never answer any of my email or text message. He did NOT answer any of the BBB complain (so BBB closed the case without any his response ) until I left my honest review on BBB website.

    2. For the demolition job he did, I payed him total $6,200 ($4200 for the 2nd floor demo; $2000 for the 1st floor demo ), but he had not provided me any invoice. I requested, but there is no response.

Regarding to the 1st floor water damage, the contractor volunteerly did the estimation.

The estimate doc he provided in this response is NOT THE SAME ONE he provided to me back in Feb. See the attached Estimate #*** file FYI. It seems to me that he changed the numbers after 8 months. One thing need be clear, this contractor didn't do the job of water extraction, clean up, dumpster. He provided me the demo estimation #*** as attached.

Businesses and Customers should be civil, courteous and polite in their responses to complaints. It is important to remain professional and productive when participating in the BBB complaint process.
