    On April 24th I ordered a used AKG C414 via **** from Odyssey Pro Sound. (The price was so low that I couldnt resist.) It arrived two days later. Upon running tests, I discovered an intermittent low frequency hum. It didnt happen all the timesometimes it was there, most times it wasnt. And at least for me, it happened only on a certain polar pattern setting. (It wouldn't surprise me if the problem hadnt shown up when Odyssey ran its own test before offering the mic for sale.) But intermittent or not, this was enough to put me off.On a Sunday afternoon, I e-mailed Odyssey explaining the defect and said I wanted to return the mic for a refund. Surprisingly, I got a reply from Odysseys owner within two hours. (I didnt expect to see a reply until Monday.) He explained that the mic had been tested before going on sale, and apologized for the defect. He asked me to call on Monday for instructions on how to return the mic. I called on Monday a little after 9:00 am. The owner of Odyssey talked to me directly, and walked me through the **** return process. Again, he apologized for inconveniencing me, never questioning my claim that the mic was defective. In fact, he even took the time for some friendly small talk.I mailed back the mic. Within two hours of Odyssey receiving it, I was notified that a full refund to me was authorized.Bad stuff happens. A good test of a business is how it handles a sale gone bad. In my case Odyssey Pro Sound passed with flying colors, and Id have no qualms about buying from them again.
