    I have a letter from the property mananger that we both signed at move out stating what was good and what needed replaced. After they sent our security deposit back it was a little over $200 short. They informed us it was for a cleaning fee. However, we had the apartment cleaned before hand, and in the final letter we both signed there is no mention of them needing a cleaner to come in. Yet they are still withholding our money and saying they’re not returning the remainder of our deposit.

    Hello,

    Please review move out inspection report and the move out statement of charges provided here.  The move out inspection sheet states that some drawers are dirty.  These required cleaning and a cleaning service was used. Attached is a copy of the invoice from the cleaning company.

    I am rejecting this response because: When we completed the walk through together I asked if I can just wipe the drawers down quick, to which I was told not to worry about it. I was told about being charged for the new oven pans, but at no point was there any mention of a cleaning fee also being tacked on. Furthermore, this is an outrageous charge for "some drawers dirty" The average hourly rate is $50 for a cleaning company so to be charged roughly $220 for "some dirty drawers" is criminal. If I was made aware at the time of a cleaning fee of this amount I would have made other arrangements to clean the drawers myself. The unit was cleaner when we moved out than when we moved in because I personally had to scrub the main tub, and clean the windows, and dust the trim. I did not charge your company a cleaning fee for that.

    Thank you for your additional feedback.  We are sorry to hear that you felt you were not well informed about the cleaning guidelines.  The verbal conversation you provided differs from that of the manger that completed the move-out inspection.  In our opinion, a cleaning service was necessary.
