BBB has received numerous complaints for Smart Home Solar Panels, however, we have been unable to obtain a location for the business or any other accurate contact information.  Consumers have stated that the business calls and attempts to sell them solar panels for their home. In some cases, the caller has become irate when the consumer declines to provide any information.  Complaints also state that the calls continue even after the consumer has requested to be removed from their call list or notified the caller that they are on the National Do Not Call List provided by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). 

The calls seem to be coming from spoofed telephone numbers or even what appears to be the consumer’s own number.  Spoofing is often used by scammers to represent themselves as a local caller or hide their true identity or location.  Oftentimes, this deception lures the consumer into a false sense of security and into believing that the caller is a local business or from a reputable source. Consumers may unwittingly provide personal information that could later be used to perpetrate identity theft crimes.  Some calls may even come from a computerized autodialer and deliver a prerecorded message that then transfers the call to a live person who will try to obtain personal information. Consumers are urged not to answer calls from numbers they do not recognize and to call a company's confirmed phone number to determine if the original call was a genuine offer or if it was, in fact, a scam call.  BBB offers additional tips on spoofing.
