  This past summer we had a damaging hail storm that did significant damage to our roof, gutters, and deck. With so much damage I was looking for one contractor that could handle the entire project. I contacted Melvin Belk Roofing (MBR). One of the issues I had was that we had a Family Reunion in a week and the paint had been stripped from my deck. MBR worked us into a priority schedule and jumped right on the project. The deck paint crew were great and finished the deck on schedule for our guests that were coming. Next project was the roof. They worked with us to accommodate the best date, then came in and got the project completed. For the roofing project they put down lots of protection panels and tarps to protect our landscaping. When the roof was complete they did an amazing job on clean-up of the site. With a roofing project, clean-up is an important part of the process. The last project was gutters and downspouts which they executed flawlessly. What I liked most about Melvin Belk Roofing is that they did what they said they would do. They offered suggestions to correct past conditions, were on time, and they were ALWAYS customer focused. I would definitely use Melvin Belk Roofing again and would highly recommend them for your exterior home projects.

  Melvin Belk Roofing was referred to me by multiple neighbors, so I gave them a call. Very professional salesmen, came right away, even went up into my attic to give me an accurate quote based on the condition of my wood decking. Amazing communication from the salesperson and office when signing and during the job. I felt safe and reassured that I had made the best choice with all of the employees I came into contact with. Beautiful roof and gutters. Great job with cleanup, they sent a crew to sweep my yard after the job to pick up any fallen/discarded debris. Would highly recommend to family and friends. You will not be disappointed!

  We had a great experience from start to finish with Melvin Belk Roofing. Luke was our sales associate and was extremely professional and helpful throughout the entire process. To top it all off our roof was completed ahead of schedule. Thank you MBR.

  **** sent to do the work didn't know what they were doing. They changed the dimensions of my overhang so nothing fit right. Never cleaned up the nails left behind in the yard.They're very lucky our dog didn't step on one before I cleaned it up myself.Definitely won't use their services ever again.

  Sorry, you are unhappy. The overhang was rebuilt to the original size which now matches the one we didnt work on. The technician that did the work is very highly skilled and in fact is a former Cabinet maker. If we missed one or two nails when clean-up was done we are very sorry. Cleanup was performed, tarps are layed out and magnet rollers are used to pickup any missed nails.

  Horrific experience. Melvin Belk (MB) roofing dropped tools or plywood through the roof trusses while replacing decking and damaged our newly textured ceiling and ceiling fixtures. When we complained, the members from MB who showed up at our house to assess the damage were impaired (intoxicated). We advised we would fix the damage ourselves. We withheld $2,400 from the total bill. The cost to fix the ceiling and related ceiling fixtures was more than $3,600. We could not live in the house while repairs were going on due to all the dust, etc. We had to move all furniture out of the room, drape plastic around the entire room, etc. The whole ceiling needed to be repainted, new drywall and texturing (impossible to match the old texture), replacement ceiling fixtures and electrical installed as well. MB then sued us for the $2,400 in small claims court and lost. The magistrate over the case encouraged us to counter sue. The representative at court for MB also lied on the affidavit - they checked they were a sole proprietor. MB is an LLC. The case number is *******, State of Michigan 59th Judicial District.

  One of our installers did in fact drop a tool thru a hole in the roof that we were replacing that cracked / damaged the drywall in the ceiling. Accidents while rare do happen. We finished the roof installation and contacted the owner to make repair to the ceiling. The drywaller and painter we use is in fact one of the best in the business and we have used him many times for various reasons, we have never had a complaint about his work and in fact only recieved praise for it. He doesnt work directly for us but we use him on occasion as a sub-contractor. What is not factual is that they were intoxicated when they arrived to look at the ceiling to access what would be needed to make the ceiiing repair. *********************************** who is our General Manager in fact rarely ever drinks at all. He NEVER drinks and drives and he was the one driving that day. He NEVER drinks while on the job. He is also my son-in-law and in the 30+ years I have known him, I have NEVER seen him intoxicated over even heard of it. I have NEVER known him to have more than one drink on any given occassion. Our drywaller/painter I dont know as well but he was not intoxicated at the time. We also are covered by insurance for any damage we may cause. We are fully insured at all times. Our idrywaller/painter could have made the repair while containing the dust using temporary barriers and negative air pressure. Something the handyman they hired apparently didnt do. We told the customer he should submit a bill for the repairto us and we would pay it or have our insurance pay it. However as it wasnt that much we would likely just have paid it ourselves. Our Drywaller/Painter had given us an estimation of a $1,000. We tryed on numerous ***** to get a bill or a response from the customer and failed to get one. We did file a claim in small claims court for the $2,400 knowing that a reduction would be awarded but not how much as we never saw a bill for the damages. Our claim was dismissed by the magistrate but we were given credit for the $2,400 which was owed for the roof. We paid the rest of the bill. None of this would have been neccessary if the customer would have allowed either us to take care of the repair or submitted a bill to us. Once agai accidents while rare due happen and we are always insured and willing and able to make it right.
