After multiple attempts to pay down a loan, it appears that Flagstar cannot even handle as something as simple as that. I can only imagine how many customers they are doing a disservice too since I have enough time and energy to work with them.Be forewarned about this issue and take your business elsewhere.Flagstar Bank

I own several properties and have mortgages with multiple banks 2 of which are with Flagstar. I am rarely angry enough to leave a negative review anywhere ever. However I had it with Flagstar. after changing what bank account my automatic payment should be taken out of, Flagstar tried to debt the old account where there was no more funds. every month for 5 months I went on the online account and changed the automatic payment setting to my new bank. I confirmed that the changes went through, the last 3 of the 5 times I did it with a Flagstar representative on the phone with me confirming the changes went through and were good. However for some weird reason ( I think its a software glitch they refuse to look at) their system still tries to take funds out from the old bank account and returns as insufficient funds exposing me to multiple penalties (which Flagstar refunded acknowledging it was their problem). Now they want to ban me from being able to make an automated/electronic payment and want me to take time off of my busy life to go to the bank in person every month to make their payment. I fee like I am wasting my precious life trying to make it right by a business that is not interested in correcting its mistake. When I called once again they are, as usual, reading a pre written script and still not listening to what's wrong and zero human effort to fix it. Sure they use nice words but its all pre scripted and many times has no relation with what I am trying to communicate with them. so frustrated with them and their horrible customer service.Flagstar Bank

1 starThey openly acknowledged that they made a mistake in handling my Escrow account, but they intend on having me, the consumer, to bear the financial burden. They runs scams, stay away. I have over 30 hours spent trying to resolve this. Each call I get another fake supervisor outsourced at some random call center, only to be provided with another canned response pointing a completely different reason compared to my last call. One time I had a woman yelling at me telling me that the tax collector of my township, the title company, my lawyer, and the mortgage broker were all wrong. The worst company I have ever dealt with. Their upper management should be behind bars. One horrible business ran by corrupt beings. Avoid at all costs!!!Review fromShannon O

1 starThis company is a cesspool of terrible business practices, and even if you complain to state and federal agencies, they manage to not have to respond nor do anything to correct their terrible customer services. I lost my home in a flood in July of 2022 and they have managed to hold on to over $80,000 dollars of money provided by my insurance company in what they refer to as a "blind escrow account". It's in my name but I can't see it and I can't see how the money is being used or if it's even in this account. Their customer service phone workers are different every time and they have no idea what is happening with my claim. When Flagstar made mistakes on their end through their subcontractor inspectors I have ended up paying $30k out of pocket for the mistake. I also had to take out a $70k loan to pay for my home to be fixed with a high percentage rate because they just will not give me the insurance money I was provided by the insurance company I pay bills to. They are truly a terrible and unethical company. And because the USA bows to the powers of banks, no one anywhere will help you deal with them, they have ************************* to make the worst event in your life 100x worse and they truly enjoy doing it. They turned off my auto-pay at the end of the year, then charged me late fees when I didn't immediately realize that they had shut off my auto-pay. Their website is a joke, the status of a payment is nothing short of ambiguous, their customer support line is terrible ("press 0 to speak to a representative" followed by "our call center is closed try again later"). The fact that I had no say in my loan being transferred to this joke of a "company" should be illegal.Flagstar Bank

Flagstar Bank insisted on collecting an escrow from me because they didn't have my home property insurance policy information. I sent them the home insurance policy in November 2022. The home insurance policy information is literally showing on my home mortgage account on their website. Yet, in Feb 2023, 4 months after they received the information and after the policy is literally hanging on their website, they added an escrow to collect $300 per month for home insurance. Meanwhile, their website shows my home insurance policy is "active." So I drop what I'm doing and call the bank on Feb 27, 2023 because I'm trying to pay my mortgage today but the mortgage has gone up $300 a month. I call and it takes 15 minutes of wading through their automated service to get a real person on the line. Finally, I get someone on the phone with the ****************** I explain the entire issue and the rep insists on forwarding me to the ********************** but I insist that this is about an Escrow. She forwards me and it goes back to the automated service and it takes me another 15 minutes to get a real person. Once I get the next representative, she insists she has to forward me to another representative. After I describe everything to that representative, she insists she needs to get someone else involved to help with this issue. Every representative I've spoken to this morning has been able to access and see my home insurance policy and all of them have insisted on forwarding me to someone else. I'm still holding to get this resolved one hour later. Consumers beware this bank and their mortgage servicing, escrow, and terrible customer service. Finally the last representative comes back and insists it takes 3-5 days to get this resolved in their system so I will have to pay $300 ************ and it will be removed after 3-5 days and they will send me a check refund for the erroneous $300 this month. There was a tax adjustment on the property tax for my mortgage. It went unpaid and whe I called to check on it, they said they dont pay for adjustments out of escrow. This is my 4th house and have never had this happen before with any other company. Unfortunately my original irrigate was sold to them, so it was not my choice of bank. WORST mortgage company EVER!! Our mortgage was sold to them in the fall of 2022. We have been trying to make mortgage payments for the past six months, all of them have been denied or returned, but the company cannot tell us why they were returned, and why no one has contacted us when payments have failed. We have been paying our mortgage consistently for the past two years with another company with no issues, since switching to Flagstar bank, we have had issues with payments every month, and issues with them accepting our insurance. So now, we are fighting with them to accept payments online, and getting them to reduce our monthly mortgage payment because we are paying for our own insurance. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.Flagstar Bank
