They are continuing to garnish my wages even after the debt has been paid in full. They have taken an additional $335 dollars from me. No one that answers the phones knows what's going on. I have had 2 additional garnishments over what should have already been settled. *** is unable to help me because they need a letter from this place to stop the garnishments, but I can't get ahold of anyone that can help me with that. My original debt was just over $1700 and they've taken over $2100. I'm sure I'll never see that additional money ever again. There was no mention on the refund to the now $600+ additional dollars that have been taken. It shouldnt take an additional 2 months after the balance was paid for the company to do something about stopping a wage garnishment.Business Response

I was contacted by Gurstel law Firm back in November ************************************ my name. I responded to them in writing that this account was open as fraudulent. They sent me packages to fill out and I was an identity theft complaint affidavit. I file a police report and send it to them. I sent it 2 different times because they never received the first one. I call them and a representative confirms they received the documents. 4 months later I call the law firm and they still investigating I call today 4-11-2025 and the representative said still investigating and he cant give me a time frame. I asked who is the original creditor he said he didnt know. I asked for the phone number of original creditor and he gives me a phone number that is for an insurance company. **********. I filled a complaint because they are not giving me any information and they are failing the law.Business Response

I am wanting to pay off my debt with this company who has chosen to take me to court instead of answering my calls and emails to settle this matter outside of court. They called me once and refused my offer, then told me I would owe them more money for court fees even though at the time we were settling out of court. I have since been trying to reach out to them again after they served my sister with court documents to settle but they will not answer their phones, return my calls or even answer my emails in regards to this. They want to just take me to court and take all the fees they would like out of my paycheck, which is completely unfair and should be illegal. I even attempted to pay them online a small amount to see if it would reflect on my credit report which has not been done. I am scared to pay them anything else and still be sued for the full amount owed. I have a debt through ******** that was charged off and bought by ****************. I was served and responded and set up a payment plan to where I pay $135 bi-weekly. I have never missed a payment. My neighbor brought my mail today as it went to their home and there was a letter from the courts, as well as a filing from Gurtsel stating they are suing me for the full amount of which I have already paid over $3000 on.When I go to the website and put in my file number it states no action is needed as I am in a current payment plan and includes all the details of the payment plan. Why are they suing me if I havent missed a payment and am continuing to pay even after the date in which they filed.Business Response

This company has never called me, emailed me, or sent me snail mail but they have now at the end of November just suddenly sent me a small claims court paperwork stamped with an official Ohio seal dated from the summer of 2024 when I live in **** which I don't think is legal to begin with but besides that they have never contacted me and have now sent small claims court paperwork saying I have 20 days to to the court but I don't even think the bill is mine in the first place.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
they have used false paperwork to file the court case with a letter dated way back in the summer of this year which they never actually sent to me. I had never heard of this company until some stranger knocked on our door in the darkness of night which is terrifying for someone to knock on your door especially after it's already dark outside when you are not expecting company and gave my father the official court paperwork right before Thanksgiving of this year. The court has now set a date for the trial in Jan. 2025.Business Response

Gurstel has no record of a mail return from the ****************************. Gurstel review of the matter found that the service of process was valid pursuant to **** Civil Procedure.
