- Additional Info:The BBB has determined that Events Etc. was an event planning business which operated lawfully in Minnesota from 1992 to 2011. Sometime late last year, it appears an offshore entity appropriated that company name and address and created a website purporting to offer event planning services. However, the BBB has determined that the company in reality was a front for a business offering to assist timeshare owners in reselling their properties, often at very attractive prices. The BBB has received a number of complaints against this entity recently, with customers stating that the new - and fraudulent - Events Etc. collected thousands of dollars in escrow funds from them in advance of promised sales, only to be told there were unexpected delays or government red tape, and customers would have to wire additional funds to close their deals. Some customers have thousands of dollars tied up with this fraudulent entity and the BBB is unaware of anyone receiving any proceeds from promised sales. BBB recently visited the listed address for Events Etc. and determined the company is not operating from that location. The BBB has also determined the previous owners of Events Etc. are not involved with the entity which claims to offer timeshare reselling services and they are also victims of this scheme.
The 1789 Long Lake Road address listed on the website of the fictitious Events Etc. is not associated with the timeshare scam.
