    D & D Outdoor (same owner-per KCPD has filed for bankruptcy and changed business names 8 times) was hired to trim 2 trees so that they were not over the roof of the house by the elderly resident. Pictures show trees did not have branches over the roof (research shows they were trimmed in May 2024 by a different company for $1800-elderly owner did not remember this). Multiple vehicles showed up, did not provide estimate, orally verified requested work with owner, who went back inside. Trimmed EVERY tree on the property, including over trimming one front tree and one back tree, and cutting everything under 5 feet off of small redbuds. Covered the front and back landscaping rock with mulch that wasn't requested or wanted, and now has to be removed. Threw down a sparse layer of grass seed around a few tree bases and along side of house, then a sparse layer of straw, none of which was requested or wanted. Claimed they filled in holes with dirt, but there weren't any holes to fill other than a softball sized one where a branch had fallen previously and lawn person was addressing already. Got homeowner to sign receipt and pay bill-had her sign twice (maybe so it looked like she had approved an estimate??). Bill was $17,000. Owner had her write 2 checks for less than $10,000 each (this amount happens to be the hold threshold at her bank) made out directly to him and not the business. Elderly owner had to go to the bank and empty one savings and part of the other to cover the checks. As she was leaving, *** ****** was entering her bank branch and cashed both checks. An attempt was made to contact him later and calls were not returned. Police Report Filed, Complaint filed with Missouri AG and Missouri Dept of Elder Abuse, all of whom are investigating Financial Exploitation of the Elderly.

    Business owner contacted us regarding the complaint (on a cell phone number that could only have come from BBB, said there was no chance of the desired refund, denied parts of our claim and did not respond to others.

    My elderly mother (******* *****) is the scammed party. I was away for the day and she called me saying that a company had stopped at her house and said that they would clean up her yard for $800 and she was going to have them do it. I pleaded with her to not pay the company (Dilday and Sons ************) any more money than that. When I arrived home (I live with her because of her having confusion issues, she is 75 years old and has survived cancer treatment but radiation to the brain has left her with confusion) the company was there and had cut down a few weeds in the fence row and shaped up her shrubs around the house and cleaned out some undergrowth . She said that the price had gone up and that they were going to top her trees but now the price was $7000. She had written a $3500 check and had gone into her safe and brought out cash for the remaining $3500. She didn"t even count out the money herself, she let the salesman do it and whatever the amount in her safe, she now has $1750 remaining. The salesman asked her when she said her daughter was gone and that I lived with her if I was going to be mad about the price and if he would have a confrontation with me. Their idea of topping the trees was to use a long saw and cut a few dead limbs out of the tree. There was no where near $7000 worth of work done. The work done was maybe the original $800 but I wouldnt even say that. Topping trees to me is cutting the tops down to the trunk. This was on Friday September 6, 2024. They were at her house for approximately 2 hours at the most. I had to ask them to cut down a dead shrub which was part of the original $800 deal. This company has been banned in Kansas and **** ******* has had issues with them prior. Please help as this was a true "preying on the elderly" case.

    We cleaned entire property including tree trimming, bush trimming and overgrown around entire home sheds and carport. Customer signed contract before work and after work was completed. I have even contacted customer after your complaint and customer has no complaints. Quality work is not cheap. No refund will be issued if any work is unsatisfactory I will fix it.

    My mother, **** *****  had this company trim some branches and lay down some dirt at her home and somehow she paid $9,500 for the service. This is way too much for this type of service. My mother is elderly and I believe she was tricked into paying this amount.

    ****** ***** called and said they have heard from the business and the business plans on refunding the money.

    Per that conversation, ****** said to close as resolved.
