My son only attended class 2 days and had to withdraw for personal and health reasons. Their website says he would get a 100% refund and they will take special circumstances into consideration. The owner refused to return calls or communicate, they said they would only pay half of what I paid, and they never sent any funds. He is dealing with anxiety and the divorce of his parents and could not focus on school. His school provided *** had an attempted break in so he did not feel safe, he was not receiving proper instructions and inhaled noxiuos gas and there were other personal issues. His instructor in the 2 days he was in class after orientation spoke to him only a couple times. They showed zero care to the student and refused to even discuss his situation. The behavior of their finance person was totally unprofessional and rude. I want an additional $3000 returned and I need to know why I've received no money.

Missouri Welding Institutes refund policy is You may cancel your enrollment at any time prior to midnight of the third business day after signing the enrollment agreement and making initial payment or any time prior to the first day of class via a written notice and receive a full refund. If the school rejects an enrollment application, all money received by the school will be refunded. A student terminating their training after the cancellation period, but are still within their first week of training, will receive a 75% refund of the tuition and metal/supplies, less $100
The enrollment agreement mentioned is signed by the student on their first day stating the refund policy and that they agree to this policy. To clarify this student attended 5 days so would be in the category of a 75% refund of tuition and metal/supplies.
Based on our policy and the fact that the customer only paid half of the total amount due the refund they received is accurate, a refund issued as promised.
As to the special circumstances mentioned, the divorce of parents is unfortunate but this was finalized after 18 months, according to the students father. This was the end of the divorce process, not the beginning and the student is an adult. To address the attempted break in, this was only mentioned when students father was wanting an additional refund and the school was not notified that any police report was filed and still has not been. These issues would not be considered special circumstances for a full refund.
As to the objection of not receiving proper instructions and inhaling noxious gases, there are no noxious gases in the welding shop to inhale. Also, the student did not mention to his instructor that he was breathing any welding fumes or that the state-of-the-art ventilation system in his welding booth was not working properly.
For other personal issues they had not been brought to the attention of the students Instructor, Director of Training, Director of Admissions or Owner of *** (like the student is instructed to do during orientation if they have an issue), so they could be corrected.
To comment on the instructor care and attention, all *** students start as if they do not have any knowledge of welding. They begin by being shown how to weld overlapping beads and then are instructed to do the same so the instructor can gauge where they are in their training.
Regarding the claims made about the finance person, after dealing with the customers challenging and aggressive behavior due to not receiving what they wanted, when they wanted it, the interaction was proper and on point.
No additional refund will be given due to the reasons explained.
