The business installed a new concrete driveway for us in 2022. Within 30 days of instillation one of the pads began to crack. ****** came out and put some type of caulk in it to stop the crack from spreading. Whatever he put on it made the appearance of the crack more noticeable and ruined the aesthetics of the driveway. At that time (within 30 days of instillation), he said the crack was because the installer made some of the pads too large with the way he chose to install the joints. He said concrete cracks and has a higher change of cracking with larger pads. At no point during instillation did anyone mention this risk to us or ask our opinion on the size of the pads at all. Our smaller concrete pads are fine.Over the last year we've noticed the original crack widening and now that crack has expanded into the adjoining large pads. So there is now a large crack running through 5 of our concrete pads. Bedsides it looking terrible, there are several spots where concrete is chipping away along the cracks. The state of our driveway is unacceptable. The cracks are going to continue to expand and chip away and we paid a lot of money for a new driveway. This is entirely the business' fault because of where the installer chose to make the joints and leaving these 5 pads too large and prone to cracking. And their salesman admitted that. We've contacted them and had ****** come back out and he basically said the same thing but he personally can't do anything about it and we need to talk to the owner. We've been trying to contact the owner for months and he is choosing to ignore us. We never get a call back or any contact acknowledging that we've been trying to contact them to resolve this issue. We would like them to replace the 5 pads that are damaged with new smaller pads that won't be prone to cracking.Customer Answer

We have called the business once a week for months at this point. They never return our calls. If I do get someone on the phone they pretend to be shocked we haven't been contacted and say they will pass the message on to the owner. I would never recommend this business to anyone.Initial Complaint

I contracted with Craig & Son Concrete to remove and replace my existing concrete driveway. Per the contract, this work was to be done in accordance with the city code and Craig & Son was responsible for pulling the permit, but it was my responsibility to put down the $1,000 escrow payment. The work was completed on June 28, 2023. Weeks after the work was completed, I contacted the city about the refund of the escrow payment and was told that the job failed the inspection because the concrete was poured prior to the inspector being able to approve the rock base and depth of the approach. Upon learning this, I contacted the estimator for Craig & Son who served as my sales/service representative and asked him to get in touch with the city inspector and find out what needs to be done to get this resolved. A week later, on August 17, I heard from the estimator, and he advised me that the city required that the approach be torn out and replaced, with the proper inspection, and approval, prior to the pour. He said that he would get with the owner and let me know their “game plan”. After a reasonable waiting period, I contacted the office on August 29 and asked that they have the owner call me to get this resolved. I followed up again on August 30, 31 and September 1, with no response. I sent another email to the estimator on Tuesday, September 5 and advised him that I needed hear from the owner by September 6. The company has acknowledged that it was their error for not waiting for the proper inspection by the city and that the solution is to replace the approach. However, they have not advised when they plan to do so, or even confirmed that they will do so. I am hoping that by filing the complaint, the BBB can help me to get the company to take responsibility for their error and make this right by promptly removing and replacing the approach in accordance with the requirements of the city’s code.Customer Answer

The day after filing the
complaint, I heard from the owner of Craig and Son Concrete advising me that
they would arrange to replace the approach per the city's requirements.
They scheduled the work for the following day. As promised, the two-man
crew arrived promptly at 7:00 AM and removed the recently poured approach on
the driveway. After putting down the proper rock base, the city inspector
arrived and approved the job. A while later, the cement truck arrived, and
the driveway approach was replaced to my satisfaction. Five days later, the inspector approved the
final inspection so I will be getting my escrow payment refunded. While the process was much more difficult
than I had expected, in the end, I am now satisfied with the result.Initial Complaint

*************************** laid a stamped concrete patio 4 (2018) years ago when we moved into our newly built home. They did a good job. We paid around $5000, and we paid on time when the job was completed. In spring, 2022, we used them to wash, seal and color the patio...they screwed it up (we paid $1200) they did try to fix it, but, got worse each time. Once we got close to winter, I asked them to stop, and they said they would fix it in the spring. This spring, they refuse to contact me now, the main office won't help, the owner won't help. I've been trying to contact the owner for three weeks now, he won't return calls, and his voice mail is full. The owner and I were playing phone tag, but, he has not answered or returned a call since April 28th. When I call the office, they simply say he has been trying to call you several times (which is a lie). They also won't help. The owners phone voicemail is full as well. I feel they ruined a section of my patio, which the only way to make it right is to replace it, which is most likely more than $5000 now. I feel they are washing their hands of this mistake and hope I go away. We've tried to be as cordial as possible, but, have now reached a point of frustration that leads to filing a complaint with the BBB. I'm hoping for resolution to the mistake they made last year, while saying all along they will make it right. The haven't.Initial Complaint

We had Craig and Sons come out and give us an estimate for our driveway and adding concrete so we could park a 3rd car on our driveway. Before we signed the contract we called and asked if they could also replace the pad in front of our steps to our front door. When they came out to do the project, they talked with my husband about the pad in front of our steps and then asked if we wanted it extended to the street. My husband said yes and but he would check with me to make sure. Craig and Sons then started their work and my husband and myself left for work after they asked us to open our garage doors. When my husband came back after they were finished we noticed that they counted that pad of 18'' into the extension that we wanted on the other side resulting in not being able to park a 3rd car in our driveway without blocking a garage door. I believe this is and was a miscommunication on both parties. I have tried to have them fix and add the 18'' to the left side of our driveway. I was told this would be an additional **** for the 18'' for them to fix. My husband reached out to a lawyer friend and she offered to call and see if we could come up with a compromised to resolve this as no other company will come out to fix an 18'' section as it is not a big enough project. I'm willing to pay 1/2 the cost of the concrete as it is a miscommunication but Craig and Sons is refusing to accept any part of this. They even said we approved a spray painted part of the driveway when we were never home to approve that. I'm attaching the bid and the permits Craig and sons pulled for the project showing the 3rd car pad on the left side of my driveway showing that is what was talked about through the bidding process and what we expected to be done, along with the before and after pictures of the project. I have been and am hoping to come to a resolution that both of us can accept but an additional **** is not it.Customer Answer
