so here's what Duke Eneegy does, hires someone to go trim trees around the power lines, and by time they are done you got half a magnolia tree with a big bottom untouch, leaving it to look hideous and now too heavy and if it dies will probably land on my home, out they don't care, just cut cut cut and walk away...I'm so discussed this use to be an absolute beatiful tree...now right in front of my home, and no way to fix it...so now what??? all on me to take care of! I wish I could post pictures it is horrible!!!

Terrible. Never resolve anything. No true supervisors. Not professional. Tried to turn service on at a multi location for heat so pipes wouldnt freeze. Service in one unit never came on. Called first and had a very rude rep that continued to want to argue that had I given her all the info..which I did had she listened from the start..promised superviser call back that never happened. Repair ticket sent. Still no service. Did all they asked..3 times told a supervisor would call back and never happened. Every call they are extremely rude like your talking to teenagers.Checked all outlets and plugs. Nothing on. Now we are getting a bill that shows usage..impossible! Nothing is on or plugged in. Nothing is working and no one will even attempt to help . Worst company and employees ever. They need to clean house. Public utilities complaint is all you can do. No one at Duke is accountable . They are terrible

In 2022, Duke Energy underwent a network change. During that time, the company merged my account with another with a similar name. For the next 2 years, I contacted the company numerous times, as both my and the other person's financial and personal information was shared between the two of us by Duke Energy. Calls to their "Representatives", who are contracted, not employed, led to instances of verbal abuse and the demands for credit card numbers and social security numbers. Eventually, the confusion between the two accounts led to my power being turned off. In yet another attempt to rectify the situation and to get my power back on, yet another demand was made of ME, despite the issue lying on Duke's end. In order to fix the issue, my account had to be deleted and a new one created, with a demand for yet another deposit as well as activation fees. In other words "We screwed up, so you have to pay us to fix the issue". I was finally able to get some semblance of a solution, paid up the last account, and got a new account started. 2 months later, I received a notice that YET ANOTHER SET OF FEES needed paid on the CLOSED account, and if not, the account would be turned over to collections. I strongly suggest anyone having an issue with this company filing a complaint with the **** and to search out any current class action suits against the company. They are literally a criminal element.

All I can say- is a mess. Duke Energy sent myself to collections over a bill from October of 2021, with no notice I saw in Feb 2024 this was sent to collections. The part I have struggled with over the past month and half, is talking through several people discussing I did not live at this location, and was legally not binded to this house, someone else was living there which I have PROOF of them paying this EXACT bill, when calling duke they say "Hello ********, you are calling about the account located at ****" which is not me, nor the address I lived at. I have called over 6 times in the past month.1. Starting on Feb. 8th where I was notified my questions pertaining this bill will be brought to higher *** to dispute, wait until I recieve a call.2. Feb 14th I spoke to ****** where she said "I cannot help you, I told you they would call you when it is reviewed"3. Feb 14th I spoke to ******* where she said **** disputed the charge of Feb 12, and that **** has made the mistake, saying that someone had the wrong information. ******* said the *** of collections that would be WAIVED and was posted on my account of 2/12/24. To wait ***** hours for collections to be notified of the dispute of charge being taken off by ****.I gave them more than enough time, a week to be notified by collections they recieved NOTHING from Duke pertaining this bill would be waived. 4. On Feb 27th, I spoke to ***** who confirmed the COLLECTIONS DEBT will be WIPED, to call Bull City to further the process, everything has been sent that needs to be. After calling Bull City, they have said on 2/27 and 3/7 they have recieved nothing from Duke energy about this bill being waived, to call Duke regarding this. (Bull City has been so helpful)5. On March 7th, I spoke to ***** who said she saw my account but could not help and would forward me to someone else who could help.6. I spoke to ****, who said to wait. He could not see the "notes" from the last 5 people I have spoke to.

As I read other reviews and complaints, I understand that it is not only happening to me but to everyone here in the *********** and they must not blame it on inflation. At our house located in ********* **, ***** is the zip code . Since 2018 we have been paying close to $650 dollars per month and when we call them they always seen to have a reason to justify the charges, we understand inside that they are stealing, now in 2024 our bill is close to $986 dollars per month. It is got to a point were the electricity bill is as much as our mortgage payments. It is sad. Very sad. We do not make the money to pay for this high bills, at this point my dad and is going broke because of this ******************* bill. We demand for them to send us an engenier so they can come check the house or for a settlement were we can get our money back we been paying every month for all these years. We are also calling the ***************** and its officials to take a look at what is happening at duke energy because we understand that they are not doing math right. We are askimg Duke Energy to think not only on y'all share holders who look to profit more and more every month but to think of the American people they are serving to. It is a shame you guy have let us see this nasty side of y'all. I hope this is not part of the brand new green deal where billions or dallars were approved, how it is that we the comsummer ar paying more? When the money they just printed we have to now go ahead and pay back in taxes on topnof all these hight energy bill. We ask for Duke energy to make it right. We ask for the ***************** to monitor past, precent and future accouting/ consumer-consumption of electricity activities so we the people can see what is it they are doing at Duke energy. We are not happy.

I have been inundated with ads from Duke about buying a smart thermostat and getting a bill credit. I have received physical mail, emails, and the app has shown these messages to me after I logged in. I followed all instructions to ***, bought the thermostat I did not need with my own money up front, and received an email that the area I live in is ineligible for this discount. This is false advertisement. I called to ask for a credit as advertised, and have been "Transferred" over and over back to the beginning of the que. I even have been sent to a different region to get me to hang up. This is insane

Starting at the end of December, I had a bill reversed due to a system error by duke energy. My bank also did not process a electronic check due to a digit being off. Duke energy helped me figure out that part.I ended up not getting 2-3 of my bills. I tried to pay off my current installment plan in the process but was told I couldn't. Instead, I put the money as a credit on my account. I had called ********************** 8 times to try to get my bills and get my account resolved. I had NO idea how much i owed or at what rate. The last 2 people I talked to said that they could do a courtesy installment plan and that my account would just need to be reconfigured. I paid almost 700 dollars on some of the bills that finally released. I owe another $1006. I called to get the installment plan reworked and they said that they could not do it. They said that there was no such thing as an installment plan. I was lied to for all this time and this has put my family in jeopardy of having my utilities shut off. Not to mention that the rates I was charged for electric and gas was high. I kept my house at 66 degrees and nothing running except. My dryer and furnace with a light on when home.

Duke Energy in ********************** is a complete monopoly. This company is a textbook example of why antitrust legislation was made, yet nothing is happening. Without any competition in the free market, Duke Energy is allowed to raise costs on its customers at their discretion. This must be stopped.

If I could write this place, zero stars, I would. I called the last week of November to set up my power at my new townhouse and pay the 265 deposit which was based off of my credit which is already crazy. Then I find out they literally put in the incorrect house numbers. So I had to call back to get them to correct my address and that service rep ***** move my payment and their system to the correct address. Instead she put me on the installment plan further deposit amount I already paid. Then I get my bill for this month I see the monthly plan on there I called back to get it removed done. That was a lie Ill call back and now Im being told I have canceled your installment plan but you still have to pay the last payment of the installment plan because we use your 265 and applied it to your last months bill which is not what they were supposed to do, especially when I already paid that amount. So basically theyre asking me to at this point double pay my bill. So instead of my budget billing keeping my bill at $83 this month I am having to pay $200 something I was not prepared to do so thank you Duke energy for your terrible customer service and overall service in general. I cant wait to move out of their service area. I dont even want to stay in the same state anymore because theyre so horrible.

A terrible company. You can set up automatic payments and they will cancel them without notice, then proceed to turn off your power and charge you reconnection fees.Or they'll delete your account preventing you from paying your bill.Or they double your rates without notice. This is one of the absolute worst companies on the planet and they will do their utmost to ensure you pay more than what your supposed to.
