Renewal by Anderson offers a high quality window- but a large part of their sales pitch is touting that all of their installers are employees, not contractors- and that if anything goes wrong with the installation- that they will take care of it. Not true.I had $60,000 worth of windows replaced in my 20 year old home. I had a wired alarm system (as wireless systems did not exist 20 years ago), and they were aware that the system would need to be reattached by my alarm company once the windows were in. The installers failed to keep my wires in a "plug"- which is standard with wired window and door replacement . This necessitated me having to switch my system to wireless for the areas replaced- costing me $2127- all because of their installers error. They agree to reimburse me only for the labor portion of this ($760.00). This is unreasonable as I would never have needed the rest if they had done their job. They do not stand by their installers as is their big claim, and I suspect, like many businesses post Covid- they are likely short of installers and the training is likely sub-par. The installers seemed completely overwhelmed by the scope of my job when they arrived at my home.

      Good Morning Ms. ******,
We are very sorry for your frustration and experience. We do our very best to be as clear as possible regarding things like alarm systems and what we can and cannot do. My apologies for any confusion regarding how we manage our installation teams. While we do have some employee teams we also have contractors. There is no difference in the way we train, manage, over-see or warranty the work done by an employee or contractor.

Renewal By Anderson is AWFUL!!! We ordered a patio door on August 10, 2021…. The door was promised in 6-8 weeks, however it didn’t come until January 2022…. AND IT WAS THE WRONG DOOR! We tried calling our sales rep but was ghosted. It was 10 months later before we finally received the door, however the installation was poorly done. The door doesn’t hang straight, you can hear the rubbing on the bottom and the installer cut the wires to the doorbell! The installers also left a lip in the doorway causing myself and guests to constantly trip….. after multiple calls, someone finally came…. The solution? Screwing a slab of wood into my hardwood floors!!!
We have called SO MANY TIMES!!!
We want compensation for the damage done to our threshold. RBA is ridiculous!!

Good Afternoon Mr. & Mrs. *********:
At Renewal by Andersen we strive to get it right the first time and when that doesn't happen to take swift action to correct. Your review does however not fully align with our records. Our records indicate, as was stated on the signed agreement, that the estimated start & completion dates would be between 8 and 20 weeks from signing the agreement. While we understand that there were additional service issues the initial installation did occur within the time frame provided. Our last notes also indicate that services needed were resolved with the exception of the height of the threshold - which is not a service issue, it is the way the door is manufactured and there is not anything that can be done to resolve that. Lastly, our agreement also states that upon substantial completion of the work final payment is to be made. Without a job being paid in full the warranty cannot be activated. Despite that we are willing to resolve any outstanding service issues that you believe remain prior to collecting final payment. If there is a service required please contact our office to set up a service visit. We can be reached at 336-299-5051.
      Sincerely,
      Ellen M********

I have purchased about 15 windows from them now and I have three great things to say first the salesman Harold A has always been there for everything, answers all my calls and helps with everything. Second every team that comes to install my windows have been very nice and professional. Third although I did need to have thing fixed like I said before all I did was reach out to Harold A and I had someone there to fix my small problems fast, nice and professional.

Our project started on 9/13/2021. The last missing part was installed 9/22/2023. We paid for the Anderson Experience but it has been anything but that. This project has taken way over the normal and expected time to complete. It’s been frustrating, emotionally and financially draining. There have been multiple mis- measurements, sloppy installation, wrong color, wrong size parts ordered and then reordered. Doors that were reordered now open in the opposite direction than we originally wanted so the screens we paid for can’t be installed to match the other set of doors. We have made multiple attempts to contact our sales rep Erik S******** to find a solution but he has ghosted us. He made his sale and appears to have moved on. We have sent multiple emails, pictures, text, and made calls to the customer service line, to the production managers of the local office (Chris L. and most recently, Nate) and now to the home resolution manager Tammy to just hear the same thing, “we will take care of you” , “we will give you compensation”, and the most common response, “I’ll check on that and get back to you”. We want an itemized quote for the last change order that was $4225.43, how did you get that total? I want to know how much we were charged for the Phantom screen that was not installed. We want it off the bill and we want to be compensated like were told we would be. Not 3% like you offered. That’s insulting and not acceptable for all that we have been through on this project.

      Good afternoon Ms. *****:
Our sincerest apologies for the challenges and delays with the completion of your project. We will certainly look into the issue regarding the screen and if a credit is due, we will gladly apply it.
We will also review the compensation offer and have someone follow up with you, however, there may not be much we can do beyond what was already offered.
Certainly, if there is still service work to be performed, we will gladly take care of anything needed.
      Sincerely,

*****, I appreciate your online response but as of today, 11/6/2023, I have not received any compensation that was offered verbally. I have sent you and your team emails with no response. Can you tell me when I can expect the adjusted invoice with the Phantom screen cost removed and the monetary compensation offered applied to it? My husband and I are eager to have this terrible RBA experience behind us so we can move forward.

We purchased two doors. Terrible quality. Doors stick and won’t close smoothly. Have to push door in hard to engage locks. First door, technician came out and fixed the lock shortly after the doors were installed. Repair technician said lock was installed improperly. Not long after he left it started sticking again. And then door handle fell off. I replaced the Allen screw. We now have the same problem with the second door. Door is sticking and won’t shut smoothly or lock without pushing hard on door. Appears the environmental seal around 2nd door is torn due to sticking and closing improperly. Handle on 2nd door fell off while we were out of town with house sitter staying here. I put in new Allen screw when we returned. We also have an ongoing safety issue from day of installation with a tripping hazard due to a two inch plus high threshold. They have tried different potential fixes but it comes down to the wrong size door was ordered/installed and they tried to make it work. Buyer’s remorse. Worst purchase we have ever made. I only left one star because it was default…it should be zero stars.

We are happy to service any weather stripping or operational issues you are having with your door. Unfortunately, the doors are set on the brick of your home so they can’t be lowered at all. We are very sorry for your frustrations and would like very much to resolve any issues we can. Please feel free to contact us and we will gladly set up a time convenient for you for our service technicians.

At the time of sale for two 53" x 23" standard double hung windows, my 92 year old mother was caring for her 93 year old husband who was also having hospice visits at the home. A Renewal by Andersen rep came to her home after she received a flyer in the mail. Original quote for the windows was approx. $7,800 for two third story windows that she had difficulty opening. At that price I hope they open and close by themselves! The third floor basically is used for storage. He discounted the price to $4,400. She asked if she could think about it but he stated the offer was good for a limited time. Something to that affect. She paid 50% down and we have since cancelled. Being I just found out about this, (mom didn't want to trouble me with all that we have been doing in light of my step-father's passing) she is passed the date to receive any money back. They didn't even offer a reduced price after I contacted them with my concerns. I have called the Andersen Company and they quoted me a price of $689 +tax each for the windows. Renewal by Andersen stated they have a superior product. What? Aren't they all associated? If not, that needs to be documented. For what she needed, just to have an easier time opening them, her age and her current situation, she didn't need to invest this kind of money in attic room windows! It's a scam, upscale the price of your product so it "appears" you're giving a customer a deal and say it's a limited time offer, when that deal is no deal at all. I'm not saying that their product might not be worth it, but to think a woman in my mom's situation really understood what she needed versus what she was sold. In his pitch and on the phone to me, the sales rep stated he would have treated his own grandmother the same way. I thought he must not like his grandmother very much. I wouldn't even give them a one star but it's the default.

It is hard to respond in detail without having a name, address etc.  However, we do not discriminate by age and we do have a 3-day right of rescission.  If it is past that date we are typically willing to discuss options with our customers based on many factors.

Andersen is our parent company but the product we offer is different and an exclusive Renewal by Andersen product – so pricing would definitely be different.

At the time of the consultation we typically offer a 1 year price a 30 day price and a same day offer for people who are comfortable making a decision during the consultation.

Unfortunately, I am not at liberty to discuss the finite details with someone who is not named on the agreement and that is for the customers safety and privacy.

      Thank you,

Three plans, best discounts if sale is for same day. This is a typical high pressure sales tactic. “If you don’t buy today it will cost you more later”. At the time of sale my mother asked if she could think about it and was told the discounts that were discussed were for that day only. She also asked if that was the best the sales person could do and the reply, I’d give my own grandmother this deal”. A big red flag is the different timeframe prices. Just a high pressure sales tactic - nothing more. The company has been contacted three times regarding the concerns (mother present on two of those contacts) and not once did any Andersen Renewal rep offer anything for what was already paid nor has any Andersen Renewal rep contacted the contract holder directly to offer anything. They just keep reminding us we won’t get our money back. The company states they don’t discriminate. Yeah - they’ll rip off anyone who doesn’t know any better.

I made an appointment for May 31,2023 and confirmed by their text message and no one shows up. I called in to find out what happened and I was told the estimate called off sick. No one called me to tell me that until I called in. I set up a new appointment for Jun 1, 2023 and again no one showed up. I called in again and the woman who answer (Gina) said it was her fault but again no one called me to let me know there was an issue. They expect to to just wait for someone who is not coming.

We purchased Renewal by Anderson Windows for our whole house for $46,396.80. Having new windows is supposed to add value to a home; instead, it decreased how they look in our Carolina room, with six windows installed so poorly.
Upon installation in that room, they did not fit at all! There was an inch and a half on each side of the window. So the installer had to call his supervisor to come over; the salesman that sold us the windows also came over.
They installed the one window as best as possible and called it a day. After that, I called Renewal by Anderson every day to see what could be done about the poor installation, and all I received was a voicemail. No one would call me back for three weeks! So finally, I called another Renewal by Anderson Windows in Fayetteville and asked for a manager. The manager advised me she would look into what was happening and get back to me.
Finely the installers were coming back. They removed the one window they had put in and started over. They used a hand saw and cut up the wood around the opening. It is not even straight, and big gouges are showing. I told them it looked awful and did not sign anything when they left, so my husband could look at it.
I have tried sanding the wood to make it even, but the gouges are too big to correct. I tried painting it up on a ladder, and the ground is not level. Then I asked myself why I was the one trying to fix their horrible mistakes when I was charged so much money for awful workmanship.
Renewal by Anderson is still not completed for my installation. I found bubbles inside the triple pane window in the kitchen and a scratch on our bedroom window.
If Renewal by Anderson is supposed to have the best windows to buy, why didn’t the manufacturer not see these flaws, or the installer, for that matter?
We request Renewal by Anderson Windows to replace the wood around the frames on all the Carolina room windows because it looks horrible.
      Sincerely, **

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ANDERSEN!! Atrocious experience!! Company is completely incompetent and not trustworthy. Problems every step of the way. Installed windows backwards, had missing parts, doors and windows were mismeasured and had to be reordered, doors did not open correctly, and it goes on. Our project is STILL NOT DONE and we started OVER TWO YEARS ago. In some cases, they attempted to install windows/doors four times because the "new" ones had large scratches and had to be reordered repeatedly. We wanted to withhold 10% (according to the contract) because the project was not complete, but the company threatened us and refused to work anymore until we paid in full and then they NEVER SHOWED UP AGAIN. I sincerely wish we had read these reviews first. Stay away from this inept and unprofessional company!!!!

We are very sorry for the frustration, delays and challenges in completing your project. However, despite the frustration and extensive delays the work was completed to meet the terms of the agreement including additional requests to change to a wider to trim to cover paint lines, which is typically something we do not cover. Lastly, you did receive and accept a customer service allowance for your frustrations and time. We apologize for not being able to meet your compensation request, however we have completed the work and your warranty remains in full effect.

Problems, problems, problems.....there were problems in EVERY area....delivery of windows, delay in scheduling installation, not being able to install all windows orders at one time. One positive was that the installers did a great job with the first six windows that came in, still waiting for the seventh and sliding glass door, both of which are still on backorder several months after they were measured. BIGGEST problem is that they finance through GreenSky which IS NO BBB accredited. I've been having problems for months now connecting with GreenSky; getting information from them and having payments reflected once I've made them... Google GreenSky on BBB and in general and it will blow your mind how sloppy and incompetent they are. IF YOU DO sign a contract with Renewal KEEP ALL emails, letters, etc. YOU WILL NEED THEM. The product is great --- the businesses involved are PATHETIC in terms doing what they say they will do; when they say they will do it and keeping accurate records of payments made......WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS with either entity again and WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW to run like hell if they every come knocking on your door.

Mr. ***** – we are sorry for the challenges you are having with Greensky. You can contact Portia at ###-###-#### as she is a direct representative for them and somebody we regularly work with to assist our customers. Unfortunately, given that they are an independent 3rd party lender we can’t interact with them on your behalf. The window that was on backorder has arrived and your door – which you only purchased on 3/10/23 is due to arrive In our warehouse on 4/28. We will contact you today to schedule a time to do both for you so there is as little inconvenience as possible moving forward.
