CRI is charging my husband and I for damages done to the house that were prior to our arrival. They refuse to provide recipts for these charges or pictures and are instead stealing from us. We left our house in beautiful condition, patched the walls, and they are charging us for things that don't even exist.

    Business Response

    Date: 06/16/2023

We have been unsuccessful in our attempts to resolve this matter with the consumer, who was a tenant in one of the residential properties we manage for a landlord.  The consumer has alleged that they were improperly charged for damages at the conclusion of their tenancy and that monies were "stolen" from them.  CRI Properties represents the landlord of this property as the ********************* agent.  Any tenant monies withheld for damages are only paid to the Landlord, or repairmen hired by the Landlord, as compensation for their work to correct damages that occurred as a result of the tenants' occupancy.  These monies are not credited to CRI Properties.  As the landlord's management agent, we retain photographic documentation of all damages charged to the tenant.  I have attached two photos that reflect the more significant damage encountered during the tenant's move out inspection.  The photo that shows the wall patches in the bedroom is representative of other patches in every room of the home, which were slopped onto the walls, requiring extensive sanding and refinishing to return the home to the condition it was in when it was rented (note - the consumer was only charged to correct the sloppy patches so the unit could be painted.  The landlord did not charge the consumer the cost of the repainting).  The other photo is what was left of the bedroom door, which required replacement and repainting.  The consumer was also charged for cleaning the home.  All appliances and bathrooms were dirty and personal items needed to be removed from the home.  Other miscellaneous charges included replacing a smoke detector, four blinds and a missing screen.  The consumer was provided an itemized list of charges which the consumer continues to dispute.
