On March 31st of 2025 a technician came out to my house around 4pm. I had called the company to have a diagnostic service due to A/C troubles. The technician diagnosed the issue as a cracked reversing valve and empty refrigerant. I was quoted I believe about $1800 to fix it. I think it was around $1200 for refrigerant and $600 to replace the cracked valve. With it being such an expensive repair I called another company to take a look at it. I should now preface that we have used byrum before and have had this upcoming issue previously. The technician with the other company arrived and found the issue (a ** **** valve, the same style valve used to inflate car tires). He showed me the leak with soapy water as well as showed me that the reversing valve that byrum claimed was cracked had no leaks. All in all I spent about $800 to repair the unit. And that was just refrigerant, I wasnt charged for the ** **** valve. Ive had this issue before with Byrum but thought maybe it was just a specific technician, but no this was a different technician that is misdiagnosing problems with something that cost much more money. Byrum has sent a $90 diagnostic invoice and Ive spoke with them over the phone about how their technician misdiagnosed the problem with something far more expensive and that this isnt the first time one of their technicians has done this at my house. I was hoping for the diagnostic invoice to be waived because of this but was told that even with that information the invoice stands.

Byrum stands behind their work 100% therefore we will refund the diagnostic fee of $90.95 as requested. Our technicians are experienced and well trained. However, they are human and if they made a mistake, then I humbly apologize.

We used Byrum AC to repair and ultimately replace one of our AC units. The process was long and difficult at times however we were finally pleased when the unit was installed and working. We experienced a few installation issues including an unlevel pan that caused the water sensor to trip and fail inspection. In addition, the installer placed a blue film floor protector on our wood stairs and wood entry flooring which pulled the stain/poly off of the floor. When I first notified the owner he was apologetic and offered to make it right. He even entertained doing additional work to our our unit as compensation, however when we decided that we wanted to pursue an insurance claim his tune changed quickly. He stated he had other claims recently and did not want to file and claim and did not provide his insurance information. He sent out his most trusted employee to inspect our floors and he also agreed with me on the damages and claimed that floor protection product should not have been used. We have been trying to resolve this issue for months and still do not have a resolution. The owner of the company brought his friend that does flooring to our home and treated us like our home was sub par because our floors were not brand new. He is now trying to force us to use his contractor which is not someone we want working in our home. We provided a comparable quote from a local reputable contractor and it was ignored. We would like a resolution as this has taken countless hours/days of our time. We paid the bill for our AC now we want the bill paid for the damages this company caused

We used a floor protector specifically for hardwood floors on the wood stair treads while replacing the **** unit. A product we have used on hundreds of homes before without issue. I requested a very reputable flooring contractor that has been in business almost four decades to go out and give an honest assessment of the stairs. Their conclusion was that the stair treads were not damaged by the floor protector. There are areas with the same issue that never had floor protector which also leads me to believe the contractors conclusion is accurate. I asked the contractor to quote refinishing the stairs anyway, which they did. I forwarded the quote to Mrs. ********* She obtained a quote from her contractor of choice that was almost three times the quote I received. Even though we do not believe the floor protector damaged the wood finish, I have agreed in a good faith effort to pay her contractors quote of $1,970.00 to refinish the stair treads, her contractors quote of $800.00 to paint the risers and five days of accommodations up to $1,000.00 as they say they cannot stay in the house while the work is being done.
