On 12/20/2024 my daughter ******** ***** was transported by MMT Ambulance Medicine in Motion company (account # ******) from Mercy Main hospital to Mercy South hospital. Total bill was 1564.00. The MMT Ambulance billed **** insurance company.

We have only in-network benefits with **** insurance. While MMT ambulance is not in-network with **** insurance, they are participating providers with ****. Participating providers means (per our insurance) "They have agreed to accept a different negotiated amount than our Preferred providers as payment in full. They have agreed not to bill you for more than your applicable deductible, and coinsurance or copayments, for covered services. We pay them directly, but at our Non-preferred benefit levels. "

So **** paid MMT ambulance $555.94:I have explanation of benefits from Insurance company that shows payment and that we owe the provider $0.00. MMT ambulance accepted payment and wants us to may the difference in $1000.08. I called our insurance company and they confirmed that we do not owe any money to MMT. I called MMT few times (on 2/4/2025 and 3/10/2025) and explained them that while they are not in network, they are participating providers (if they wouldn't be, they would not be accepting the payment from insurance). Insurance representative called MMT as well at 2/4/2025 and explained that they shouldn't bill us since they are participating provider. However, MMT ambulance still refuses to honor participating provider agreement and wants us to pay the difference. Please, help us to resolve the matter.

Good Morning, I was admitted to Inova Hospital at their Fairfax , VA location on 05/24/2024, whereas, they transferred me to their another hospital branch on the same day, because certain services are not available where I was originally admitted. To transfer me they used a partnered private Non-Emergency ambulatory service called ‘Midwest Medical Transport company’. This company is not participating in my health insurance plan - **** ** ********. Whereas, when I was admitted initially at Inova Hospital, I was told that, I was protected by ******* ******* ****** ******** *******, in case, if any of the service providers through out my treatment are not participating in my health plan, I was protected by law. WHEREAS, I was billed by this Medical transport company for an additional amount of $1088.53. My health insurance provider already paid an amount of $526.47. I request Midwest Medical Transport company to look into the issue and to remove the additional charges from my account.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 08/19/2024

I contacted Inova Hospitals Customer Relations department, and they asked me to send the bill from Midwest Medical Transport Company.  They asked Midwest to add this invoice to Inova Hospitals, since, this is not the patient responsibility and the patient was transfered from one Inova Hopital location to another Inova location.  Midwest customer support send an apology email to me and mentioned it was taken care. We can close this case, since, I have email proof that the bill was taken care by Midwest.  I strngly believe that their 'intelligent' claim processing team looking for gaps and loopholes in the system to bill customers in unethical , immoral ways.

Anyhow, thanks a lot to BBB.   If we dont have organizations like BBB, I have no clue or no other way to approach the companies like Midwest which dont have any ethical or moral values.

    Thanks
